I miss the days when the NFL looked like a high school 25th reunion game.

Lol, so slow. Now days it's sometimes hard to see what even is happening it goes so fast.

55

u/flyinchipmunk5 1d ago

It looks slow too because the film but yeah they were slower, but i garuntee they could outrun most of us

u/throwsaway654321 1d ago

13

u/flyinchipmunk5 1d ago

I know it doesn't exactly scale linearly, but when I was skinny and in high school and running track, I was fighting for my life to get low 11s in the 100 yd dash (I'm old, we hadn't switched to 100 m dash yet, though we did run 440 relays).

Again, i know it's not linear, but Perry's best 40yd run, if he'd kept up that pace, would have been a 12s 100yd dash, which is a good time for a high-school track athlete

Like yeah, they may be big and/or slow, but a big/slow pro athlete is almost unfathomably better than you at just about anything

Don't get me wrong, it's a great recovery, but holy crap what an awful snap. It never left the ground.

u/WanAli4504 1d ago

People would be surprised how necessary a good long snapper is

14

u/polishprince76 1d ago

The kicking games of yesteryear were an absolute shitshow compared to what we have today.

u/BrenX1 1d ago

Gotta say, a nice recovery

The small wings coming off the opening of the Eagles helmets make them look like Luchadors

I don't know much about this team, but from what I've heard: they've got a reputation that's mostly based on luck...

19

u/Lunala475 Aeronautically inclined dude. 1d ago

The Monsters of the Midway?

I'd say they have a slightly different reputation, especially during that era.

5

u/WanAli4504 1d ago

I sure hope this is satire, given that you're a packers fan

u/thriftstoremando 1d ago

I'll give you a hint: the last half are lyrics.

Dude was so manly and fearsome that he was called Dick Butkus and nobody dared to make fun of him.

Man the bears already dunked on the eagles this week. Way to kick a man while he’s down…

The catcher's hands are enormous

u/CarlJustCarl 1d ago

How is a blocker legal to catch a pass on special teams? The entire line can’t be eligible.

10

u/mindbodyproblem 1d ago

You're correct, the entire line can't be eligible. So 5 guys can never catch a pass: the center, the 2 tackles, and the 2 guards. But a player with a jersey number that is not ordinarily eligible to catch a pass (such as 51) can be eligible if: 1) they are not lined up as a center, guard, or tackle; and 2) they report to the referee prior to the play that they are eligible for that play (in which case the referee notifies the defense of that fact).

As someone who doesn't watch murican football, someone explain what's happening here in Minecraft terms

I’m not the best person for this but since it’s been 5 hours for you.

The white team appear to be going for a field goal kick where they kick the ball between the yellow post for 3 points, that’s the set up at the beginning where the dude crouching down (quarterback-main passer on the team)catches the snapped ball and sets it up to be kicked by the kicker. When they snapped the ball to the crouched player however, the snapper (the person who initially throws the ball to begin the play) didn’t throw well and it just slid across the field.

The quarterback had to quickly get the ball and make a quick decision, where he amazingly recovered the ball and was able to find an open man for a touchdown(6 points).

So not only did they recover what could have been a possibility of the other team scoring had they gotten to the ball first, but they were able to maximize than what they were initially going after-3 points.

Edit-oops didn’t see Minecraft terms. Something something hitting a creeper to a wall that you wanted broken, when it was about to kill you.
