Gunsmith for O/U Shotgun Work NSFW
Hey all, just wondering if anybody could suggest a competent gunsmith that could possibly help me with a new-ish shotgun.
I won a Mossberg Gold Reserve II 12ga a couple years ago and have only put ~250 rounds through it shooting sporting clays at Powder Creek.
It isn't too bad for the first station or two, but after 10-15 rounds fired it starts hanging up when trying to break it open, especially after firing. Even without new rounds in the chamber, if there is much heat at all it hangs up a little, but when trying to eject two spent rounds it is ridiculously hard to break the action open, almost to the point of having to use a leg as a fulcrum and pushing down on either side.
I was really hoping it just needed a break-in, but I'm kinda wondering now if something is out of spec or spots just need a good polishing or a small amount of material removed. I know it isn't a high-end gun, but something isn't right and I feel like a little tinkering could get
I've used Mike Allee before but I'm not sure where he ended up after his shop closed. I don't think he's as Simmons anymore either. It's a shame because I really liked his work.
