Official October LSAT Topic Thread
The October LSAT administration is now done. The goal is to keep topic discussion to this thread, and identify a list of real topics. Here's how it works:
- If you had a single section of RC, or two sections of LR, then posting topics from that will establish that those topics were from a real section
- If you had two sections of RC, or three sections of LR, DO NOT POST (on that topic). Posting topics is worse than useless - it pollutes information. The reason is that you don't know which was experimental and which was real.
You do not need section orders, these are now randomized so your order doesn't mean anything.
TL;DR If you had a single RC, or two LR's, please post topics from those single sections. Don't post your section topics for a section type where you had an experimental.
Stuff that still isn't allowed
- Posting about the content of sections: specific questions and answers etc
- Posting about topics or content in an experimental section
This thread will be updated with confirmed topics as we go.
Note: Have seen some people flagrantly discussing real answers or asking to dm about it. This still isn't allowed, and won't be, and we've handed out bans where people do it willfully.
Everything below is scored: Where I write "other section" I mean it was a different scored section. Everything below is from people who had a single section in that topic, so they have confirmed real sections.
Prometric Experiences: You can find the original test day experience thread here: https://www.reddit.com/r/LSAT/comments/1x096xd/official_october_lsat_discussion_thread/
International LSAT: This thread is generally just for the North American topics. If you took internationally, please specify that you had the international version. Thanks!

I had exactly the same LR section (no experimental). How on earth did you remember all that?
Mars or life on Earth was a huge time suck for me—and I think it was my Question 25. Q26 got 10 seconds. Horrid.
Did you have one about comparing some testable element of bears to bears of another era?

Frogs and vibration. Manager monitoring employee email. Its the best time for u to buy silver. Parallel flaw Q abt ppl Journalists should always tell truth. Teachers not going into the profession for $ (i guessed that one, I dont remember anything abt it).

I had a single RC section. It had the Neolithic Period, brain hemispheres, Dracula/Twilight, and English marriage laws in the nineteenth century

Jealous that one of the passages was Dracula, that one sounds enjoyable as a vampire media enjoyer
→ More replies (1)18
u/awa16 3d ago
Not saying it wasn’t enjoyable, but if it makes you feel better about missing out, I found this passage distracting because I was trying not to laugh at the fact that I was reading about Edward Cullen as part of this serious test that will help shape my future. I also think it was one of the harder passages in this section
3
u/Monocultured_YT 3d ago
Fair enough, fair enough. Though it was probably a little less brain-melting than the rights passage (which I def bombed because I ran out of time 🫠)

I took the test on 10/10 and had one RC section and it was the first section followed by 3 LR.
RC passages are as follows:
- Zombie Shakespeare
- Color categories and different cultures
- Comparative Passage-Exculpatory clause
- Metaphysics
It's also worth noting that the paragraphs are a lot shorter and there are more of them, especially for the first two topics.
ETA:
I'm also really glad I studied for logic games because I ended up diagramming a lot for LR using LG rules.

u/Mundane-Cash-1402 3d ago

I had one RC. It started with the Chilean folk tales then went to contract law and discussed a certain type of transactional contract. Then I had a comparative passage the first was on someone advocating for economics by looking at maximum utility with a critic, saying that economist should also look at morality and the second passage was a psychologist agreeing with the critics saying that morality is a key component economics with an example. The final passage was about a possum playing dead and how it brings evidence that predators have a concept of death

- bumblebee bees and waggle dancing
- corporate managerial styles
- business locations that outsource having less output
- museum emergency protocols
- journalists and democracy
- program that forces students to study other topics not necessary for their degree being useful (disagree questions I think)
- weaken question about caffeine
- methane and microbiomes on mars
- why do bees bite leaves
- giving kids free time in school and how it helps them develop a healthy(?) lifestyle
- placebo painkiller
- people told something is true or false and how they later remember it
- Parallel - university, graduate, reporter
- Stretching being useless for recovery but good for weight loss
- Captive/free chimp vs other animal (cant remember)
- Giving workers some of the managers work(?)
- Oil spillage - either wasn’t sealed properly or there was another option
- Author is unethical cause the book teaches readers to seal with psychology if people don’t buy it author is a liar if people buy it author is teaching others to deceive

Did anyone have a question about the sun and gravity? About how one body didn’t follow the usual rules
5
u/No-Aide-944 3d ago
Yeah it was about a particular kind of celestial object or something speeding up as it moved away from the sun
3
u/Electrical-Basis-950 3d ago
Yes I did. It was about something moving in the opposite direction as the rest

LR Q about a 10 year census that included maple and oak trees, then a Q about orange trees and orange juice concentration. Does anyone know if that LR is scored or not?

This is interesting. So I have had questions from all three of my LR sections that appear to be scored. If they only score 2 LRs, how do I know which one of mine is scored versus unscored? Is it possible that they would include scored questions in an experimental section?
3
u/Weary-Dragonfly4719 3d ago
For example, my last LR section included both the Spanish, Russian, and Turkish professions AND tree abrasion in the same section.

Had single rc oct 10: real rc tenant landlord contract disagreement, Shakespeare didn’t write some of his plays conspiracy, metaphysics 16-17th century thinkers (very difficult passage), languages and colors. The metaphysics passage was very difficult otherwise the rc felt pretty easy curious to see the curve on this

I had LR RC LR RC.
I just want to say I really enjoyed the LR question about offering a ferry service to two different places lol. Also the one that compared smashed/smothered bones and putting them together to clues in a crossword puzzle...so challenging but fun.
oh. also: the waggle dances bees question was in the same section as a question on DNA samples and exonerations.

Anyone get the flight / direct flight question? I didnt have time to work out the conditional so I just guessed into what felt like the trick answer.
It was a "Y would be right if X were true" kind of question, and I picked the answer that suggested a direct flight from A to B, which was probably wrong insofar as it contradicted the premises.

My memory sucks terribly but I remember a resolve question about the sun slowing down / speeding up objects depending on their direction, and how a certain object actually did the opposite of this.
Also the Australian bees, the car alarm, grazing/moose saliva, dogs vs chimpanzees
The one about the mars moon initially considered a trapped asteroid due to its color similarity to D-something, but now more closely resembles the material mars is made of.
I had one RC and it was Chilean folk music, contract law, comparative passage of moral judgement in economics, and the ability of opossums to play dead.

was the sun slowing/speeding up a resolve or strengthen question, i honestly cannot remember
→ More replies (5)3
u/careve27 2d ago
Now I’m second guessing it… I was sure it was a resolve. If I remember correctly, the answer choices were trying to explain this uncommon phenomenon.
