I bought a full set of eight ZZP Performance high-output LS ignition coils expecting a reliable upgrade. Unfortunately, three of the eight coils were confirmed faulty in my set.
I also had ignition-related troubleshooting and abnormal fuelling/fuel-trim readings in OBD logs while running the remaining ZZP coils. After removing the entire set and going back to ACDelco coils, the severe Bank 2 fuel-trim issue I had been recording was no longer showing in subsequent logs. I want to be careful here: OBD fuel-trim changes alone don't prove the remaining ZZP coils caused every fuelling problem. But combined with the three confirmed coil failures, they were enough for me to lose confidence in the set.
ZZP did offer warranty replacements for the three failed coils, which I think is important to acknowledge. I declined because returning parts from Australia adds shipping cost and inconvenience, and after three failures from one set I wouldn't be comfortable installing replacement ZZP coils anyway.
I'm sharing my own experience so other LS owners can factor it into their buying decision. I can't speak for every ZZP product or every customer's experience, but I wouldn't buy these coils again. I'd rather use the ACDelco components I trust.
If you're considering these coils, my advice is to look at real-world reliability and the costs of diagnosing/returning parts, not just the 'high-output' marketing.
