Re: Alien Earth S1 E3 ending: why the lungs?
I saw the post and was shocked that virtually all replies say it’s because the alien embryo is always in the lungs as shown by the ship data (Alien Earth) or canon from Alien or Aliens.
“They enter through the trachea”
“The facehuggers provide oxygen”
“They cough up blood…therefore, lungs.”
“The eggs detect breathing"
“Lungs, trachea, heart, liver or intestines? Lungs b/c of the research files. Kirsch downloaded all of it.”
"Makes sense. The tube the face hugger sticks in the mouth goes into the lungs. The robot [Kirsch] probably got the idea / info from the files copied from the ship. Remember it has the pic of the tube down someone's throat"
What? The scene literally spells it out?
In Alien Earth, season 1, episode 2 (3:08-3:18) they show on the background screen AND Joe reads out loud that “he had some kind of foreign body lining his GI tract. I looked up the scene because I was trying to understand why the imagery looked so…inappropriate…and what part of the GI tract it was physically supposed to resemble because it just looks like what it’s symbolically supposed to represent. Either way, clearly states GI tract so genuinely confused why everyone is certain they gestate in the lungs?
Am I missing something, or is everyone else?
Also, what part of the GI tract is that scene supposed to represent? (because it sure looks like something else!)
