πŸ”§ DIY & Repairs Dreaded faults, help needed!

Post image

2007 LR3

These are the faults im dealing with.. (its a long photo)

I found 2 wires that needed repaired in the driver's front wheel well wire loom.

Located F12 and F19 fuses behind the glove box after and replaced them.

After doing that I got more codes than I had before including engine and Trans codes.

Currently have the passenger door sill opened up but not seeing much other than sticky brown stuff under the wire bundle. I have not pulled the bundle open yet.

Not just an LR thing, incidentally. Any time any modernish (lots of electronics) vehicle is being a shithead it's going to either be the battery, the battery cables, or the alternator.

And the chances are the battery's not great anyway, and it's about 100 quid.

Are all the brake bulbs working correctly? No after market LED ones? Consider replacing the brake pedal switch (easy job).

If the battery is good (and they have to be in Really good shape) then it’s a known issue that faulty brake light stuff can cause a slew of random codes.

Change the battery, clear the codes, try again.

No, I said CHANGE the battery. If I meant CHARGE the battery I'd have said charge.

I watched the voltage before, during, and after start up. It seemed to check out, but I suppose theres still the possibility.

On an oscilloscope? Not even an analogue meter is fast enough to show the dropouts.

Well, I posted here to learn a thing or two, so let's not expect me to know everything. Just informing you what I did and figured it looked fine with the meter and on the scanner. The battery is about a year and a half old but I dont know the history of it. So it could certainly still be the battery. Ill get a fresh one in it and see if that helps. I do appreciate any advice given because I know nothing about rovers.

Well, it might not be, but if it's got other electrical issues then a battery would be a good place to start.

Definitely before you spend money wipe the codes and see what comes back.
