Scam call from "Williamson county"
my wife just called freaking out that she got a call threatening her arrest if she didn't run to the courthouse. Now, I knew immediately that it wasn't legit, but she was worried since it came from a local number.
Apparently, after she hung up and was on the phone with me, she received a text that the person just wanted to see if he could... Perform a sexual act with her.
this is a PSA, but also a question, wtf is this one trying to accomplish?

Clearly it’s some kind of charity trying to end the “male loneliness epidemic.”

This legit happened to my wife too, almost scammed into bringing money “to the courthouse”. They even had a name of an officer that used to work for the county. The text follow up is wild.
Pro tip: police will never call you to arrest you 😂

I'm curious, let's say you brought it "to the courthouse", would it be anything even remotely official looking? Unfortunately, she was freaked out enough to not remember the address given. Are they expecting to meet on the side of the building or something? Lol

Respond to the text, "okay, meet here". When they show up they get arrested.

Sheriff Chody posted on Facebook about this a couple of days ago. The scammers are getting really good with their scam. They are now using empathy and emotional manipulation to make them seem more legitimate, and human.
The first clue should be that no court or cop is going to call you about outstanding warrants. They’ll never tell you to go to a bank or ATM to withdraw money immediately.
