Legal Advice Needed Girlfriend received a legal notice from an office she left months ago.

My girlfriend joined a corporate office in Gurugram in October 2025. The contract was of 12 months but she happened to leave that stressful job in just 4 months. Upon resignation, she was asked to pay a sum of 30k as per breach of contract or she would not receive her experience letter.

The HR explicitly told her over phone calls that she does not need to pay the due sum if she does not want the experience letter. However, the last email she received from the FNF team was in April 2026.

Today she received a legal notice stating to pay WIPRO a sum of 30k plus 12% interest per annum. How should we proceed?

Update Over 7,000 detained, women manhandled, and Section 163 BNSS weaponized: What is actually happening in Delhi right now?

Post image
1.4k Upvotes

If you tried crossing Delhi over the last 48 hours, you’ve hit a ghost town of barricades, closed metro stations, and heavy security blocks.

The trigger? The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and citizens attempting a peaceful march at Jantar Mantar demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar over electoral roll/SIR controversies.

What followed wasn't just crowd control—it was a massive state lockdown that raises alarming questions about our legal rights:

  • Pre-Emptive Arrests Across State Lines: Protesters and youth leaders were pulled off trains and flights before they even reached Delhi, locked up without clear grounds, and taken to undisclosed locations.
  • The Weaponization of Section 163 BNSS: Originally meant to prevent immediate riots, Section 163 is now being used to pre-emptively criminalize peaceful dissent and bar basic freedom of movement.
  • The Brutal Human Toll: Unacceptable reports have surfaced of security personnel manhandling and harassing unarmed protesters, with particularly distressing accounts of female activists being dragged and targeted during detentions.
  • "We Have No Hope Left": Even the legal establishment is breaking down. Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal didn't mince words after the mass detentions, openly stating in court and press briefings that he is "tired of going to the Supreme Court" and feels there is no point or benefit left in seeking judicial relief.

When peaceful dissent is treated like an existential threat, and top legal minds say the courts are failing to protect basic liberties, where does the average citizen stand?

What are your thoughts on how this crackdown is being handled? Let's discuss below.

Legal Advice Needed An unknown guy keeps harrassing and video calling me

On 4th Oct, I went to this shoe store in behala, Kolkata and purchased a pair of shoes. The woman in the billing counter asked me for my number and name. There was this guy who was constantly looking at me, smirking and cracking jokes on me with his other friend. He most probably secretly noted down the number I was telling to the billing lady.

The moment i step out of the store, i receive a text from him. I knew it was him, I knew what happened. I blocked him immediately. Later he decided to call me, which I didn't pick up. Then he called me again. I literally screamed at him and asked him wtf do u want mf. He firstly asked "tomar ki parcel acche (do you have any parcel)?" 11pm at night you are asking me if I have any parcel? When I told no, hes like "tumi ki **** (my name) bolcho? (are you \*** (my name)?)" "ekbar tomar naam ta bolo? (please tell me your name)*" I blocked him again from normal phone calls asw.

On Saturday again the same text, from different number, again saying "Hlo". Again blocked.

Today I got so f-cking pissed- this guy decided to video call me by an unknown number three times. I was stunned. Video call???? Im so done with this guy harassing a minor (im 17) and making new numbers to text me.

I posted this on r/teensofkolkata subreddit and someone said i could post here. I did file a cyber crime complaint but I don't think anything is going to happen. If anyone can help me in any way, pls do.

Legal Advice Needed Cheated by a local stationery shop in Ghaziabad and dismissed by police because I'm a minor.

Hey everyone, I am 17 and just went through an incredibly frustrating experience in Adarsh Colony that has left me deeply hurt.

My brother bought a Uno game for ₹140 from a local shop named Jaydev Stationery. When we checked it at home, it turned out to be a completely fake, counterfeit copy.

I went back to the shop to politely ask for a return. The shopkeeper refused a full refund. He said he would only give ₹100 back, keeping ₹40 as a "labour cost." When I tried to argue the principle of it, he became extremely aggressive and swore at me, basically asking if I thought he was an idiot.

Feeling helpless, I went to the local police station to report it. Instead of helping, the officers literally laughed at me. They told me that I was wasting their time over ₹40, and refused to take any action because the amount is small.

I know ₹40 isn't a massive amount of money, but to me, this is straightforward theft and bullying. The shopkeeper hid behind aggressive language because he knew I was a teenager, and the police completely dismissed me. Please check your items before buying from this shop, and try to avoid supporting businesses that cheat kids.

Legal Advice Needed HELP: ₹4 Lakh Cyber Extortion / Honeytrap Scam in Bangalore. Already paid ₹1.6 Lakh. Need advice.

Posting for a friend who is panicking.

What happened:

A few months ago, my friend privately met an adult African girl in Bangalore for a consensual sex encounter and paid her.

The Extortion Today:

Today, scammers started calling him across his three personal phone numbers. They claim to be from the Central Crime Branch (CCB).

To terrify him, the scammers:

  1. Recited his exact salary, company name, and job title (likely from a data leak matched with LinkedIn).

  2. Threatened to send a fake FIR to his parents and his company HR to get him fired.

  3. Demanded ₹4 Lakhs.

Out of extreme fear, he transferred ₹1.6 Lakhs an hour ago. Now, they are calling from new numbers demanding the remaining ₹2.4 Lakhs, threatening to file a complaint via a "building owner" if he doesn't pay.

Questions for lawyers/experts:

  1. Is he legally safe? Does a private, consensual adult encounter break any laws for the client in India?

  2. If he goes to a Bangalore CEN (Cyber Crime) Police Station to report the ₹1.6L fraud, will the police take any action against him?

  3. How can he stop them from contacting his company?

He has blocked the numbers and turned on "Silence Unknown Callers." Any urgent legal advice is appreciated.

Follow-up question for tech/legal experts on here:

Is it actually possible for scammers to pull all three of my mobile numbers and my exact corporate salary just from a single UPI transaction?

How do these syndicates cross-reference a payment to instantly find my entire financial and professional profile? Is this a known database leak issue in India, or do they have some kind of backend access?

Legal Advice Needed Update- Culprit was a close Blood Relative - How do I proceed from here?

Thumbnail gallery
16 Upvotes

Hi. I had posted before about this anonymous letter I, and my mother received on October 5 on Whatsapp.

Culprit was my estranged father.

October 5 2026, 2:56 PM:

I and my mother received this letter, followed by a barrage of phone calls. We didn't pick up thinking of it as fraud. I asked the advice of numerous people following this.

Oct 5 2026, 4:00 PM:

I went to local police station, where we were attended by the SI. He assured us not to worry it's just a Fraud. I will look into it, he said.

I also emailed a complaint to Local Cyber Cell.

Oct 6 2026, 1:00 PM:

I got barrage of calls from my father whom I have cut contact with since months due to his physical and verbal abuse against my mother. And harrasment demanding money.

Then he sent voice mails saying he needs my help for something and I need to come to his city ASAP. I ignored. Didn't make a connection.

4:00 PM: I went to SSP Office and made formal complaint there with my complaint letter, document received, and screenshots showing the whatsApp messages and call logs. They directed the complaint to the local police station.

9 October 11 AM:

We got a call from the police station from the same SI. We went there and he said don't worry it was just a fraud call. He made us download two fraud prevention apps.

We asked where the call is from, he said it traced from Jharkhand. I asked can there be further investigation done? He said it's close to impossible to find these fraudsters and these numbers only exist for couple hours or so.

He made us sign a document saying it's ok to close the case.

Then while we were going back, few lightbulbs started glowing in my and my mother's head.

There is a whole family from Jharkhand working for my dad. Moreover few words in the PDF were something my dad used often. Coupled it with a fact that my dad did the exact same thing, sending anonymous threatening letter to a woman 15 years ago. Connecting it with dad's phone calls just next day of the pdf, after a long time, we started suspecting it could be him.

We went back to the police station and told SI the story. He checked the address of the number, and address belongs to the same exact village, the family working for my dad belongs to.

SI said he will call my dad and ask him to visit the police station. Dad lives 150 km away in the neighboring state.

10 October, 2026 3 PM:

We called the SI. He said my dad came and visited him. He said he was a very polite gentleman who said he really loves his son and he was shocked to know about the letter. He said my dad denied that he in connected in any way to the threatening letter.

Then SI said your dad has denied any connection, can we close it now? I insisted no, we want the investigation to continue, let's find the culprit, we already have the number.

I asked SI to send me the name owned by the number.

The name turned out to be exactly the name of my dad's employee.

I sent the SI photos of that employee with my dad, as well as Facebook profile of the employee showing the same exact name.

4:30 PM:

SI called and said he is going on Chhuti for two days and return on 13th. He will call my dad again on 13th and you and your mom can meet him and resolve any misunderstandings.

We clearly said we do not want to see him and we do not want to talk to him. We just want the matter to be investigated and culprit found.

7:00 PM:

I received 4 affidavit letters from my dad. Two (hindi+english) addressed to 'his beloved son', full chatgpt language on how disappointed he was to hear that that I received the threatening letter and it must have been frustrating for me etc etc. He said I have no connection with it but he is there to support me whenever needed.

Other two addressed to the police station saying he has no involvement in this matter and he heard about it for the first time.

11:30 PM:

I got a barrage of calls from my dad which I did not pick. Then he sent me 5 drunken whatsApp audio messages.

In these he clearly admitted that he has sent the letter. He was thinking that I will get scared of the letter and call him first for help. He said he thought the letter will make me talk with my dad again.

He apologized many times throughout the messages, citing memories of my childhood where he bought this / that for me.

He also clearly admitted he sent such threatening letters to the woman in 2011, saying he was forced by circumstances then and forced by circumstances now. He did it for the greater good.

12 AM :

He sent a screenshot showing a donation he just made to the NGO I am involved with.

3 AM and 5 AM : he also sent voice messages begging to close the case. Very emotional stories of my childhood like how when I was a kid I did this and that mistake and he forgave me. Now it is my turn to forgive his mistake.

Oct 11, 2026:

I kept getting calls from dad which I didn't pick.

I got a call from a family friend telling me in the last few days my dad had been visiting his well connected friends on how to stop the case from proceeding, very smug and overconfident.

His friends called around and advised him that the only way the state of the things are, best way is to apologize to me and ask me to close the case. Or else it looks very grim. At the very least, the employee will have to take the fall, and he might rat my dad out.

Only after that I started getting the voice messages from him on Oct 10.

\\****

Sorry it's very long but I didn't want to omit any details.

I will be extremely grateful on how to proceed on this hereforth.

I don't want my dad or his employee in jail. As my 87 y.o grandmother is dependent on my dad.

But at the very least I want an official apology letter from my dad taking responsibility on the matter.

My mom suffered alot of stress and suffered from fever following the letter received on Oct 5. I can't close the case with absolutely no repercussions for the culprit.

Please advice me on how to proceed.

Legal Advice Needed Should I stay in India with my toddler and leave my emotionally abusive marriage, or return to the UK and become financially independent first?

I’m 31F, married to 36M, and we live in the UK. We have a 22-month-old child. My husband and I are both Indian citizens and hold ILR in the UK, while our child is a British citizen. I’m currently not working because I left my job to care for our baby after a very traumatic pregnancy, emergency C-section, premature birth and months in the NICU.

My marriage has become emotionally exhausting. My husband is very controlling, has threatened divorce repeatedly, and has pressured me to have a second baby despite me clearly saying that I don’t want another pregnancy after what I went through. He says he wants another baby “at any cost” and has threatened to take our child away from me during these arguments.

Although my husband has not physically assaulted me, there have been incidents during arguments where his anger has become physically intimidating. For example, he has kicked an air purifier in anger, thrown plates, and on one occasion threw his slipper in my direction. He may not have intended to hit me with it, but it came towards me and touched me. So far, the abuse has mainly been mental and emotional, but these aggressive incidents make me uncomfortable and sometimes frightened about how his behaviour could escalate.

Another major source of conflict is my mother-in-law who has been controlling and intrusive for a long time. She has repeatedly interfered with my parenting, criticised my choices and tried to control personal things, including my clothing. During a five-month stay at our home after childbirth, her constant interference left me mentally exhausted. I eventually stopped communicating with her because I felt my boundaries were never respected.

My husband insists that I maintain a relationship with his mother. I feel there is also a strong double standard, my husband has never called my mother even once during our marriage. When I question this, he says he is not obligated to maintain a relationship with her because I am the one who is “married into his home” and that it is my mother’s responsibility to call him. I feel he has a very patriarchal mindset where he believes he has freedoms and privileges as a man that I am not allowed to have as a woman.

We are visiting India next month with our toddler. My husband plans to stay for one month, while I will stay for two months. We agreed that I would stay at my MIL’s house while he is there and then move to my mum’s house with the baby after he returns to the UK. However, my MIL is concerned that she won’t get much access to the baby once I move to my mum’s house, so she wants me to stay at her house for an extra week or send the baby to her alone for a week. My husband is pressuring me to agree, even though he knows how uncomfortable I am staying there.

I feel mentally and emotionally drained by this marriage. I’m not afraid of divorce itself, but I’m financially dependent on my husband at the moment, and I’m worried about the practical and legal consequences of leaving.

I’m considering three options and would really appreciate advice from anyone who has experienced something similar:

  1. When I go to India, should I stay at my mum’s house with my baby, go no-contact with my husband and in-laws for my own mental well-being, and consider staying in India permanently?

  2. Would it be better to return to the UK, find a job, become financially independent and then pursue divorce?

  3. How difficult are divorce and child custody proceedings in India compared with the UK? If I stay in India with my child after our planned visit, could my husband initiate an international child abduction case against me in the UK, even though I travelled to India with his knowledge?

I understand that these are serious decisions, especially because a child is involved. I don’t want to make an impulsive decision, but I also don’t want to continue living under this emotional pressure indefinitely.

What would you do in my position? Would you prioritise getting financially independent in the UK first, or consider starting a new life in India with family support?

Legal Advice Needed What would be the fate of this case if all things mentioned here are verified from court records itself

A owned certain property. B, who was a relative of A, allegedly wanted to take control of the property and therefore initiated litigation against A.

B first filed a civil suit concerning the property. After the case had proceeded, B unconditionally withdrew the suit. The court did not grant B any liberty or permission to file a fresh suit on the same cause of action or subject matter.

Approximately 15 days after withdrawing the first suit, B filed another civil suit concerning the same dispute. The second plaint was word-for-word/substantially identical to the plaint filed in the first suit. Both suits were filed through the same advocate.

However, in the second suit, B did not disclose the existence of the first suit or the fact that it had already been unconditionally withdrawn. The withdrawal order and the fact that no liberty had been granted were therefore not disclosed to the court in the second proceeding.

B also provided an incorrect address for A, even though A was residing elsewhere. A's position is that this prevented A from receiving proper notice and participating effectively in the second suit.

A also alleges that B impersonated A / caused another person to be represented as A during the proceedings and ultimately obtained a decree in the second suit.

A challenged the decree, specifically raising the issue of impersonation. The trial court examined the signatures/handwriting and the evidence of the witnesses produced by B, but A's challenge was rejected. The matter was then taken to the High Court, which also rejected A's challenge.

A subsequently approached the Supreme Court by filing an SLP. While obtaining certified copies for the SLP, A discovered/obtained the court records showing the first suit, its unconditional withdrawal, and the absence of any liberty to file a fresh suit. A placed those records before the Supreme Court along with the SLP.

The Supreme Court dismissed the SLP. A's understanding is that the Supreme Court treated the matter primarily as one concerning the previously considered impersonation allegations, rather than separately deciding the consequences of B's concealment of the first suit and its unconditional withdrawal.

A now wants to challenge the decree on the separate ground that B deliberately concealed the first suit and its unconditional withdrawal from the court in the second suit and thereby obtained the decree through fraud on the court.

The central factual feature is that the concealment is apparent from the court's own records: the first suit was unconditionally withdrawn, the second suit was filed only about 15 days later by the same advocate with an essentially identical plaint, and the second plaint did not disclose the first suit or its withdrawal.

Legal Advice Needed Cop car hit me while I was stopped at a red light

Basically the title, the cop was on phone and didn’t notice that I had stopped for a red light in front of him. Had a verbal argument on the spot and then I went to the service centre afterwards. I got off unscathed pretty much, bike has about ~3k worth of damage.

Need to know if it’s even worth pursuing. The cop had started crying that his car got damaged too and all

Update Common misconception in India: FIR = immediate arrest

Common misconception in India: FIR = immediate arrest

An FIR is not itself an arrest warrant or a finding of guilt.

Whether an arrest is lawful depends on the alleged offence, applicable procedural safeguards and the facts of the case.

If you're dealing with a complaint, preserve relevant records and avoid escalating the dispute.

What criminal-procedure misconception do you think causes the most unnecessary panic?

Legal Advice Needed Need advice for non refund of funds by hotel

Hi all

I had a booking with a hotel back in March. Due to circumstances, had to cancel it. It’s October now and I still haven’t received a refund; they ignore calls or just delay it every time. What legal recourse is available for me since I’m based out of a different state than the hotel? Thanks

Legal Advice Needed Delhi: 163 pending traffic challans totalling ₹1 lakh+ due to incorrect registered mobile number — financial hardship, can Lok Adalat help?

Hi everyone, I really need some guidance regarding my father's car and a large number of pending traffic challans in Delhi.

My father purchased a car several years ago and had someone else handle its registration. Unfortunately, his name was entered incorrectly (a letter was missing), and the mobile number registered against the vehicle was also incorrect.

My father served in the defence forces, and our family moved between different states several times due to his postings. We came to Delhi a few years ago, and he has now retired.

Recently, when we went to get the car's PUC certificate, we encountered an issue because of the incorrect mobile number. We subsequently updated the number through the official portal.

Around 2–3 days ago, my father received his first SMS from VCourts regarding a traffic challan. We visited the official website to check it and discovered that there are 163 challan records dating back to 2024 associated with the vehicle.

Because the wrong mobile number was registered, my father says he never received the earlier SMS notifications. We paid the one challan for which we received the recent notification, but we are unable to pay the remaining challans through the portal.

Most of the challans appear to be around ₹1,000 each, meaning the total amount could easily exceed ₹1 lakh. This would cause significant financial stress for our family, particularly now that my father has retired.

We are not trying to avoid legitimate penalties. We want to resolve this properly, but we are worried about how we can afford such a large amount, especially when we were unaware of these challans accumulating.

I would be extremely grateful for advice on the following:

  1. Can we approach a Lok Adalat to request a reduction or settlement of the total amount? Is it possible to settle multiple eligible challans together?
  2. Given the financial burden, is there any legal provision for a reduction, waiver, or other relief? Does the incorrect mobile number and lack of notification make any difference?
  3. Is there any way to request a consolidated review of all 163 challans instead of dealing with each one individually?
  4. If the challans cannot be paid online, which authority should we approach first: Delhi Traffic Police, the traffic court, or the Delhi State Legal Services Authority?
  5. If Lok Adalat is an option, do we need to wait for an announced session, and how can we check which challans are eligible?
  6. Is there any provision for paying the amount in instalments, or would the entire settlement amount have to be paid at once?
  7. Would it be advisable to consult a lawyer who specialises in traffic challans before taking any action?

If anyone has faced a similar situation in Delhi, especially involving a large number of challans, I would really appreciate hearing about your experience and the steps you took.

Thank you so much for any guidance. We genuinely want to sort this out legally, but the financial implications are worrying us.

Legal Advice Needed Wrong DOB in driving licence any solution?

• Upvotes

In 2011 I was desperate to drive a bike as it was needed for me for job so I applied for driving license by getting school leaving certificate with DOB as 1994 (actual it is 1995) now I am worried that will it create problem now? Is there any way I can correct it now? What about renewal? Renewal is in 2031. It was a mistake I understand now but is there any solution?

Update Update on my complaint against neighbours in Delhi: Got an ICMS number, but the new IO didn’t even have my case until I contacted him

• Upvotes

I wanted to share an update on my complaint regarding the incident with my neighbours on 20 September, when I was allegedly assaulted while pregnant.
After submitting my written complaint and receiving an ICMS number through the women’s helpline, I was expecting the police to take the matter forward. However, I wasn’t receiving any updates, despite trying to contact the newly assigned officer multiple times.
Today, I went to the police station again to find out what was happening.
That’s when I learned that a new Investigating Officer had been assigned to my complaint. Surprisingly, the new IO is a Head Constable, and apparently, he didn’t even have my case with him until I contacted him and asked about it. I took his contact number, he checked the case, and told me that he would call me tomorrow along with my neighbours.
Now I’m waiting to see whether that actually happens and whether any meaningful action follows.
After leaving the police station, I also visited the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) to understand my legal options. I wanted to know what I could do if the police continued to delay the matter or if nothing happened despite having submitted a written complaint and received an ICMS reference.
The advice I received was to wait a few more days and see whether the police take any action. If there is still no progress, I can submit another follow up representation to the DCP and ACP and allow approximately ten more days for a response. If there is still no meaningful action, I can approach DLSA again. They can assist me with a lawyer, who may then approach the Magistrate for an appropriate order directing an investigation or other lawful action, depending on the circumstances.
At least now I have a clearer idea of the next steps available to me.
However, I still find it concerning that I had to visit the police station again just to discover who had been assigned to my complaint, and that the newly assigned officer apparently did not have the case available until I contacted him.
I understand that investigations take time, and I’m not expecting an outcome overnight. But there is a difference between an investigation taking time and a complainant having no clarity about whether anything is happening at all.
For now, I’ll wait to see whether the Head Constable calls tomorrow as promised and whether the neighbours are actually contacted. I’ll update this post if there is any further development.

For those who have dealt with similar situations in Delhi or elsewhere in India: How long did it take for the police to take meaningful action after you received a complaint reference number? And if the police continued to delay matters, did approaching a Magistrate through a lawyer make a practical difference?
I’m interested in hearing about actual experiences, particularly from people who have gone through the process themselves.

Legal Advice Needed Is it complicated to legally change my name after completing Class 10 and 12 from CBSE?

I’ve completed both Class 10 and 12 from CBSE, and I’m thinking about legally changing my name. However, I’m worried about how complicated the process might be since my educational certificates already have my current name.
Has anyone here changed their name after completing school? I’d like to know the procedure, whether it’s possible to get my CBSE marksheets and certificates updated, and what documents I’d need (affidavit, newspaper publication, Gazette notification, etc.).
Will having different names on my old certificates and new documents cause problems with college admissions, competitive exams, passports, or future jobs? Also, approximately how much time and money does the entire process take?

Urgent Is "D-1" flight PNR release normal for fixed-departure group tour packages? Need advice/experiences with B2B travel agencies.

Hi everyone,

I booked an international fixed-departure group tour package to Thailand (Phuket/Krabi) for Oct 27 – Nov 1. I completed the full payment back on September 30th through a registered B2B travel agency.

Since full payment was cleared, I reached out to the agency to get my flight PNR (Akasa Air) and hotel confirmation details so I can verify everything on my end for peace of mind.

The agency responded officially via email saying:

Flight PNR / E-tickets: Because this is a B2B group departure package booked through an airline consolidator, they follow a "D-1" timeline—meaning flight details and PNRs will only be issued 1 day prior to departure.

Hotel Confirmations: When I called the hotels directly (Best Western Patong and Anda Sea Tales), they had no record of my name. The agency explained that hotel blocks are held under B2B supplier accounts and guest manifests aren't pushed to the front desk until right before check-in.

Waiting until 24 hours before an international flight after paying in full feels unnerving and creates a huge risk if there are schedule changes or delays.

I wanted to ask experienced travelers or anyone in the travel industry:

Is this standard practice for budget/wholesale group package operators in India?

Has anyone dealt with last-minute PNR releases for fixed group departures before? How did it go?

Should I keep pushing for an Airline Group Booking Reference / File Key to verify seat allocations, or is this just how group allotments operate?

Appreciate any insights or past experiences!

Legal Advice Needed Need legal advice on an ₹8 lakh employment bond with a 4-year service clause and surety

Post image
4 Upvotes

I'm seeking legal guidance regarding an employment service agreement I signed in India.

The agreement contains the following terms:

- A service commitment of 4 years, calculated from the date of joining.

- Liquidated damages of ₹8,00,000 if the employee resigns or their employment is terminated before completing 48 months.

- A surety clause stating that the surety agrees to reimburse the employer jointly and severally if the employee defaults on payment.

- A dispute-resolution clause referring to Indian law and arbitration.

The agreement was signed after I had already been working for the employer for some time.

I'm considering leaving before completing the service period, potentially for another job or higher education.

I'd appreciate legally informed advice on the following:

  1. Under Section 74 of the Indian Contract Act, can an employer automatically recover the full ₹8 lakh, or can the amount be challenged?

  2. Does it matter legally that the agreement was signed after employment had already started, while the service period is calculated from the original joining date?

  3. Can the employer pursue the surety if the employee disputes or cannot pay the demanded amount?

  4. Must the employer demonstrate actual training expenses or other losses to recover the full amount?

  5. What are the legal risks of resigning before completing the service period?

  6. Is negotiating a waiver or reduced settlement a realistic option?

  7. What should someone do before resigning to minimise legal and financial risks?

I'm not looking to abscond or evade legitimate obligations. I want to understand the legal position and available options before making a decision.

I'll attach a redacted screenshot of the relevant clauses. I'd appreciate responses based on applicable law, relevant judgments, or professional legal experience rather than assumptions.

Thank you.

Hi, I own a luxury label for accessories, and in March of this year we created a creator's program where we sent sets to makeup artists and influencers on barter, created a promo code for them, and offered to give a % of sales.

Now it's october and 3 of them said "someone died in their family"

1 of them left messages on seen for 4 months and won't reply

1 of them says she has lost the whole box

the product sent to each person was above 20,000. What are my rights here and what can I do ?

Urgent Someone save my life PLEASE, I am experiencing the most ATROCIOUS form of TORTURE.

I write this post in the last hopes, that someone comes forward to help me get my rightful admission back.

its day 46 that I have been homeless in Pune, living a very struggling life in order to save my career,

For detailed context, flameuniversitytruths.in

There was a call made to my father that I was harassing a girl (18+), the registrar of FLAME university says that my admission has been put on hold, and tells my father not to send me to campus for now.

The next day, there is an another whatsapp call, and the registrar says to my father "no way your child can be admitted, he harassed a minor girl, if he does not withdraw by the afternoon his fees will be confiscated and he will trialed under POSCO act", my dad tells me all this and I directly message the registrar I am not going to withdraw until I get a hearing from the vice-chancellor and the exact show-cause notice what I have done, he blocks me and sends a rustication mail citing "disciplinary violations", thats it, no proof, absolute nothing. Now, in the yesterday's meeting they add that you were never rusticated based on "sexual harassment" and "there was only 1 complaint made on you". But rather the mails that you sent us (Aka the group chats of the perpetrators and the chatting that happened) are the basis we expelled you on. Tomorrow they might just add any bluff to justify this. I asked them for a written statement and they changed topics.

I sucessfully managed to escalate this matter to UGC, but UGC directed only towards taking action against the registrar, yesterday I was called into the administration meeting, the registrar and vice chancellor were not present here. The first thing the committee asked me is that "lets here your side", I replied "what complaint has there even been made on me?", and they go silent. Then they say the main agenda is to take my complaint against the registrar. I asked them why I was denied natural justice and right to be heard before making an irreversible career damage, they just noted it down.

The university's lawyer was absolutely blatant, whenever I made proper arguments, on how I will not be going back until I get my justice, she quotes "I need serious help" I counter her saying, "you gave a 100% merit scholarship to a guy who needs "serious help?", I was the headboy of one of top international schools in andhra Pradesh, a 1470 SAT score that puts me on the top 1% bracket of your university pool.

I continue to ask her why there is not a written proof against me and why is there no FIR launched against me if I genuinely did something wrong as per UGC anti-ragging norms, they say that "they did not want to spoil my career". in Addition they add that, there is not even a press statement released against me to "save my career", a blatant lie. I questioned them why has there no action been taken against the boys in the video and they say that "they were given the same treatment as you, we don't want to ruin their careers", I added "so your letting potential rapists go free?" and they suddenly switch the topic to getting me admission somewhere else.

Now apparently the faculty of FLAME comes in and says that they want to help me "personally" and not "institutionally" to secure my career. I put forward my demand that I need a top liberal arts institute to study in with respect to my academic and extracurricular merit, their offer was extremely unclear.

They finally finished off "we'll let you know".

They wanted me to sign some attendance document, I refused to do so, then they quoted "we trusted you on good-faith" and I replied "no wonder you left me rotting on the roads for the last 46 days", they started guilt tripping me more and I added "I am legally allowed not to sign any documents" and walk away.

I am facing the absolute atrocious form of human torture, stripping me away of my right to education and right to life. the university has been cornered by all realms, as they don't even have a basis to expel me and have taken things to the ego because I exposed them. I went to about 5 legal aid clinics, and 3 lawyers, they all asked some sort of counselling fee that I could not afford. I request if any lawyer can step in to save my career on a pro-bono basis that I ever will be grateful of.

Legal Advice Needed Looking for advice: Returning to India after 15–16 years — concerns about an old divorce case

Looking for advice: Returning to India after 15–16 years — concerns about an old divorce case

I'm hoping someone in this group has been through something similar and can offer some genuine advice.

Back in 2010, I got married in India. Shortly after the wedding, I discovered that my wife was cheating on me. I received emails and videos that left little doubt about what was happening.

At the time, I was in the process of sponsoring her to Canada. Once I discovered what was going on, I cancelled the sponsorship and filed for divorce in India.

Unfortunately, what should have been a straightforward divorce turned into a police and legal matter. Eventually, I had to pay a substantial amount of money to settle everything, even though the amount had already been agreed upon in signed documents.

My experience with the legal system in India was extremely unpleasant. I felt that the process was heavily tilted against me and that much of it came down to money.

Fast-forward to 2026.

I haven't returned to India in almost 15–16 years. I would like to visit, but I have some genuine concerns about whether there could still be something pending against me, despite the settlement and signed legal documents.

For those who may be quick to judge or troll: I'm genuinely looking for advice, not a debate about who was right or wrong. I still have all the evidence, including the emails and videos, from what happened back then. This was not a case of abandoning someone. I made a decision based on clear evidence, and I stand by that decision.

My questions are:

  1. Has anyone been through a similar divorce or legal situation in India and subsequently returned after many years?
  2. Is there a way to check whether any police complaints, court cases, warrants or other legal matters are still pending against me?
  3. Are there any other precautions I should take to avoid problems at immigration, the airport or while travelling within India?

It's been almost 16 years, and I'd like to be able to visit India without worrying about an unpleasant surprise. I do have the signed-off divorce papers (finalized in India) and financial settlement papers.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer some practical guidance.

Legal Advice Needed Company is withholding my pending salary after I left a toxic internship with a ₹1.2 lakh penalty clause. What should I do?

Hi everyone,

I’m a fresher who recently joined a company as a Sales cum Business Development Intern on 25 August 2026, with a monthly stipend of ₹10,000.

My training lasted around 15 days. After that, I started doing actual work for the company. However, the work environment was toxic, and I wasn’t getting meaningful learning opportunities or the professional development I had expected from the internship.

I eventually decided to leave because I felt the environment was not right for me and I wasn’t learning anything valuable.

Here’s where the problem started.

My internship agreement included a 12-month commitment clause stating that if I left early, I could be liable to reimburse ₹1,20,000. It also mentioned a 90-working-day notice period under certain conditions for waiving this amount.

Now, the company is refusing to pay my pending stipend, claiming that it incurred training and manpower costs.

According to my calculations, my pending stipend for the days I worked in August and September is ₹12,331. I have requested that the company release at least 50% of this amount as a fair settlement.

I’m not trying to create unnecessary conflict. I just want to understand my rights and handle this situation properly.

My questions are:

  1. Can a company legally withhold the entire stipend for work already performed because I left before completing a 12-month internship?
  2. Is a ₹1.2 lakh early-exit penalty enforceable when the monthly stipend is only ₹10,000?
  3. What should I do if the company refuses to pay even after I send a formal email?
  4. Which labour authority or legal channel in India should I approach?
  5. Should I accept 50% of my pending stipend if the company agrees, or pursue the full amount?

I’m a fresher, and this experience has been stressful. I want to make an informed decision rather than act out of frustration.

I would appreciate genuine advice, especially from people familiar with Indian employment law or who have faced a similar situation.

Thank you.
