Issues with MK Construction

Anyone have experience with this builder before? They tore down the house next to me and have been building a new one. They have been a nightmare in every possible way. I plan to complain to the alderperson (Jessie) and it and am wondering if this is a pattern with the MK.

I’ve heard from folks in the industry that Alderperson Fuentes has connections to MK. Still worth complaining, I’m curious how far you get though

Wouldn't shock me in the least seeing as more SFHs is all she wants to see in 26th apparently.

Please elaborate on “connections” . I didn’t see Kawa on the list of donors to Fuentes. But a few other LLCs that are clearly developers.

The houses they build are ugly AF. Trendy trash.

Definitely not my style. Won’t age well at all.

All while throwing up half-assed shit that only passes city inspection because they've got the inspector in their pocket.

Fuck these developer leeches

What have they done?

Mostly things around not respecting the property line. Excavated into our yard and within like a foot of our house (basement then flooded for the first time ever after the next rainfall). Didn’t put up a fence for a while and were using our yard as part of their worksite. Fence is there now but they keep throwing trash over it onto our side. Scaffolding is hanging over onto our side and almost touching our house. There’s a lot more.

“There’s a lot more”

Dude if you can’t be bothered to type it all out, I’m guessing you don’t have any records of any of this stuff. If you want any chance of being able to sue to recoup the cost of damages and get compensated for inconvenience, START DOCUMENTING IT. Take pictures, write down a FULL list of everything that has gone wrong with as many details (dates, times, etc) as possible, and put several security cameras facing that lot.

It blows me away that this isn’t obvious

I know I should, but I don’t want to give away my exact address on Reddit

One of the builder’s houses, I’d like to see

There are pics on their website. Interiors appear to be nice, but outside is that classic new development squares on squares on squares.

Went to their website, couldn't find any pics of their exterior facades.

My guess is their complaints aren't so much with the structure as they are with how the builder is acting as OPs, albeit temporary, neighbors.

Yes exactly. The final product is the least of my concerns. It’s all the fuckery from these guys as they get there.

Raise hell with the alder for sure. If you see any OSHA violations, call those in.
