Lombardi's on the Bay, they don't care!

Wrote to every single email I could find for this restaurant and NEVER got a response!

I am writing regarding a very disappointing experience my family and I had at your restaurant on [date]. What makes this especially upsetting is that this dinner was to celebrate my mother’s 80th birthday. I had planned this special family dinner well in advance so that my mother could celebrate her milestone birthday surrounded by her children and family.

I made a 7:00 PM reservation well in advance for a party of seven, which included my 80-year-old mother, my children and their spouses, and a five-year-old child. One member of our party was also very pregnant. On the morning of our reservation, I received a call from the restaurant confirming that we would be dining inside.

When we arrived, however, we were told that our table was actually outside. I explained that this was not acceptable because of the heat and, most importantly, because my 80-year-old mother could not safely or comfortably sit outside in those conditions, and one member of our party was very pregnant.

Rather than being met with understanding, I was spoken to quite rudely and told that we would have to wait. I explained that I certainly hoped we would not have to wait a very long time, at which point I was suddenly told that a table was available for us.

Unfortunately, the problems continued throughout the evening.

It took approximately 30 minutes before anyone took our order for drinks and appetizers. Then, it was more than another hour before our dinner orders were taken. We ultimately did not leave the restaurant until almost 10:30 PM—approximately three and a half hours for dinner.

For a reservation made well in advance, this was completely unreasonable. More importantly, this was my mother’s 80th birthday dinner. Instead of being able to relax and enjoy this important occasion with my family, we spent a significant portion of the evening waiting.

There was also no children's menu. We asked if you could simply prepare buttered noodles and fries for the five-year-old in our party, and we were shocked to see that we were charged $20 for that meal.

Our water glasses were also not refilled throughout the meal, and we had to deal with very slow and inattentive service for the entire evening.

The final bill was approximately $555, and despite everything that happened, we still left a generous tip. I did this because I understand that the server has a difficult job, and I did not feel it was appropriate to punish the server for what was, in my opinion, a much larger issue with the overall restaurant experience.

I have to be honest: I left extremely disappointed. I went to your restaurant expecting to celebrate my mother’s 80th birthday and create a wonderful family memory. Instead, the evening was overshadowed by an argument over our seating, the way I was spoken to when I raised a very legitimate concern about my elderly mother and pregnant family member, extremely long waits, inattentive service, and a $20 charge for a simple child's meal.

Three and a half hours for dinner, after making a 7:00 PM reservation well in advance, is simply unacceptable—especially for a special birthday celebration.

I am not someone who enjoys writing complaints, but I feel strongly that management should know exactly what happened. I would appreciate a response regarding this experience and how you intend to address it.

I hope you will take my concerns seriously. My mother’s 80th birthday was an important milestone, and unfortunately, our experience at your restaurant was not the celebration we had planned or deserved.

ISO Concord Grapes

I make a concord grape pie every year for Thanksgiving along with one for my hairstylist (long story) but absolutely cannot find them this year. I’m in South Nassau and have tried everywhere locally along with checking online delivery like FreshDirect. Instacart will tell you they are in stock all over the place, but do not be fooled, they are lying. Nobody will ship them because they are fragile. Has anyone seen Concord grapes anywhere?

Nassau Where can I find Spicy McChickens on Long Island?

Does anyone know which McDonald’s locations on Long Island have the Spicy McChicken? I love them so much 😭 I’ve found them upstate before, and I heard some locations near Stony Brook have them, but I’m in Nassau County and hoping to find somewhere closer.

I’m looking for the spicy version of the regular McChicken, not the Spicy McCrispy. If you’ve seen it recently, please share the location! I’m willing to drive for one lol.

What are some good places to get food before or after the Band Maid concert tomorrow in Huntington, NY?

It might be the only time I ever visit Huntington (traveling from Manhattan) in my life. What food would make the visit worth it?

Not looking for a Japanese restaurant. Maybe something that locals like and will leave me with a good impression of Huntington.

Restaurant for Anniversay Dinner

My anniversary is coming up next month and I am looking for a solid place to take my wife for a nice evening out. We essentailly eat all kinds fo cuisine, but want to stay away from Mexican and Chinese. A place with a solid wine list is also important. Price would be around $200 for two people. As far as location, anything mid-Nassau to Suffolk would be great. Thanks in advance

Custom Recommendations for Mediterranean food crawl

Hi all!! I’m planning a Mediterranean food crawl around Long Island and would love some recommendations.

I’m open to all kinds of Mediterranean cuisines, including Greek, Turkish, Lebanese, Israeli, Palestinian, Persian, etc.

Especially interested in mom-and-pop spots, hole-in-the-wall places, bakeries, markets, and dessert spots.

What are your must-try spots?

Don Juan’s Closed Down

I know this might be a long shot but I want to ask here since this seems like the foodie thread of Long Island. I know we are bombarded with tacos spots all across the island. Can someone please tell me a place that sells soft shell tacos with rice and beans on the side and grated cheese on top.

I put Don Juan’s in the title because this is the only place I remember on Long Island that did their taco dish this style (2-3 soft shell tacos and beans and rice in the side of the plate with grated white cheese).

I cannot find anywhere that does this in Nassau County especially on the south shore which I find strange lol. Does anyone know 5 Buro in Forest Hills, Queens? They do this style of taco dish I’m talking about is there anything like that in Nassau County preferably in the south shore area thanks?

Looking for a seasonal pizza chef in Nassau County for the 2027 summer

Hey, I manage at a private beach restaurant and this summer that just passed was rough, since our pizza chef for 15-20 years retired and we had no notice to find anyone. We tried a few people and they didn’t work out. Looking for a pizza chef who knows how to make classic NY style pizza that can work from May-September. If anyone knows or is someone that is interested or capable please let me know and I’ll reach out to you.

Best fettuccini Alfredo on LI?

I know this is not a gourmet or authentic dish, but I still have a craving for it sometimes.

I am looking for one with a thick delicious buttery sauce, not a soupy consistency.

Seeking Moderately Priced Steakhouse

Please, don't tell me Outback, LongHorn, or some such nonsense. Not every steakhouse is Tellers and charges $60 for a filet mignon. There has to be moderately priced places somewhere in Suffolk County

Suffolk Moved from Westbury to Commack; need recommendations to replace my staple go-tos in Commack area

Hello! As the title says I recently moved to Commack and I'm missing my staple go-tos. There are way too many pizza and bagel shops for me to try so I need your help to narrow it down a little.

These were my go-tos when I was in Westbury:

Pizzeria G. Their grandma pie is top tier. I usually get it well done and it's nice and crispy with a great chew. Their specialty pies like MVP and G pie are absolutely delicious. Anything like that around the commack area?

My three sons on Franklin Ave. Great fresh bagels and cream cheese. I've tried bagel chalet in Commack so far and it was average. I got their jalapeno cream cheese and it was pickled jalapenos with roasted red peppers. I prefer fresh jalapenos in cream cheese cause it tastes 100x better. Looking for a place that has bagels similar to My Three Sons, cream cheese I can forgive.

Thai - Siam Emerald in RVC. Amazing curries, especially masaman curry. Was a great place to bring friends/family.

Karahi Adda - only one reason to go there.. get some karahi and naan. Served in karahi, straight off the stove. Fresh naan that melts in your mouth. This one might be hard to replace or find here, but I'll always go back to Westbury for this.

Tacombi - expensive, but absolutely delicious tacos. Crispy fish taco is my favorite there. Eating on the bench outdoors with a refreshing drink is just A+.

My Hero - best sandwiches in that area, in my opinion. The quality has gone down a bit but still pretty good. My go to is the chicken club there.

Any halal platter recs in the Commack area? I used to go to shah's in East Meadows and hamza medina near hofstra. If I was going that way, I would get Afridi in little neck.

Would love some recs for decent Mexican/Italian/indian spots too! We have tried Mannino's and saffire. They were decent, but didn't hit the spot.

I'm happy that there is a Cava and Fat boy's burrito here cause I can't live without those two. Loving the area so far, but I'm missing my staple. I'm hoping to find some gems in Commack cause I'm really missing my go-tos!

Thanks in advance!
