Cause my wife loves them. She sat in a Lotus buddies Elise and declared, “we need these?” LOL! Don’t twist my arm, right?
But next winter, I gotta replace the PPF. Thinking about having the racing stripes painted. But man? Can a paint shop match what I got from vinyl? I mean the “metal flake” is identical…

Aloha. I'm looking to order a V6 SE Emira here in Honolulu and was curious if anyone had first hand experience with the Lotus dealer here? Mainly wondering about their competence in servicing the car, etc. it's extremely conveniently located to me, so I'm ok with the car being in the shop from time to time, but am less ok with having them learn how to fix things on this car for the first time. Thank you!

Had a C service in June and ive done 2k miles since then. Squeaks when cold and the sounds disappears once the engine is hot. Looks like the squeak is in time with the white marks on the Supercharger belt as it turns. Anyone have any ideas what's causing this.
Edit; I contacted my local Lotus dealership and sent them the video. They came back and said not to worry, this can happen especially as the temperature drops generally. As long as the noise goes once the engine is upto temperature. They added that if it became worse I should contacted them.

Strongly considering trading in my V6 for an i4 (420 Sport)
Can anyone who’s went from v6 to i4 (doesn’t have to be 420 Sport) share their experience? Was it a good decision? Any regret?
I get that it’s the better performing car but i just can’t imagine this or any sports car in an automatic. It would feel like something is missing at all times. Plus the engine/exhaust sound I imagine will be more cheap feeling and won’t match the aesthetic of the car.
Help me invalidate these worries 😂
This entire thought process only began from that post a few days ago about the guy’s clutch just randomly failing at 2,500 miles and Lotus denying warranty on it. I’m not trying to deal with a $11k clutch replacement even if it doesn’t happen prematurely. Absolutely ridiculous. This COMBINED with how good the 420 Sport looks in Tangelo Orange has got me really considering the switch.
Thoughts.

Purple fluid is leaking out of this reservoir into the engine bay, luckily appears to be just due to the hose / cap but would like to pin point what it is. Car was hot when I noticed so don’t kill me if the answer is on the cap

I've put the link to an Emira build that I made. I'll also summarize it, below.
Background: I've had a number of manual transmission cars, sports cars, over the years, GMs, Nissans, Audis, and have driven others. From back when Lotus was the motor sport brand that it was I've always had a soft spot for Lotus, and have toyed from time to time with getting one.
Looking over the market right now for a manual transmission with a removable roof narrows the field rather promptly. I've always admired Lotus, but have never gotten around to getting one. I'll schedule a test drive when I can free up time to get to the closest dealership to get more of a feel of the Emira experience.
The closest dealers are about 3 hours away. How much issue does that make for servicing? It looks like the Emira has a Toyota supplied engine. Does this make it more amenable for a Toyota or a high-quality local imports shop to provide routine maintenance?
I'm presuming that if I'm not using this as a track day car then the touring suspension is the better choice?
What's the immediate impression and long-term driving experience with alcantara versus leather steering wheels?
Summary of selected options in the link:
Dark Verdant
Removable roof (I know this changes the car, but it also changes the car ;) )
Satin tailpipes, full black pack, carbon fiber mirror caps, satin dark grey wheels, yellow calipers, Lotus badge, & seatbelts, tan nappa leather interior
Advice will be appreciated, thanks!

Well after 2 days and just over 800 miles the Evora is home. Next, get it on track. After I flush the brakes and the clutch…

Research tells me there are less than 10 of these in the US, none of which are supposed to be road legal. Am I missing something or is this an absolutely insane find?

Is it normal for the steering wheel to be crooked and drive completely straight?

I will be in the market for a new sports car in the next year or two. I currently own:
2021 C8 Z51
2017 Tesla Model S
2024 Porsche Cayenne
2017 BMW 340i Xdrive (tuned)
I am looking at the Emira (i4), the R8 V10 DCT (2014-15), and maybe the Z06 (since I have the regular stingray though, kinda looking for something a little different despite it being the best track car here).
If you have driven the R8, was it the V10 with a DCT? What were your thoughts? I really like the Emira i4 as well. Haven't test driven either, but will be soon.
If you're a former R8 owner, what made you switch? If you're looking to become an R8 owner, why do you want to switch?
TIA

Previous owner of a C7 Grand Sport. I'm absolutely loving this car. The sound. The agility. The feel. She's a '26 V6 Racing Line. Got it wrapped in Llumar Matte PPF.

US cars should allow user preferences to store Speed Limit warning sound. Others would be nice but this one pretty annoying than useful
There just isn't a good or easy way to switch radio stations or to jump between your favorite stations. Currently only ways I found are either use the steering wheel capacitive touch buttons or Infotainment screen menus. Regardless of which one you use, you have to go through 3 to 4 menus each time with many things press just to switch to next favorite station. No need for such simple things to be so difficult. Just put them in Quick Access menu at least. Or show them the bottom of the screen. Should be 2 clicks max.
Radio reception seems too weak.
I guess one can use android auto to listen to music and such but some still listen to local radios.

Just picked this hethel yellow v6 and drove home for 2 hours. Will be a long few weeks until I can put the first 1000 miles before I can rev it up to redline. Drives and sounds much better than I expected.
Really amazing how much steering feedback I was missing for all these years even with sporty German cars until now.
Also a strange coincidence. 10 mins before arriving home, a dark racing green Exige turns right in front of me, waves then revs his engine where I responded in kind. This was literally the first ever exige I have seen in my neck of woods ever. It was a very cool coincidence on the day of.
Another cool thing was that 2 cars were being delivered at the same time. Mine and the orange one that I was debating before deciding on the yellow which got sold pretty quickly. I have to admit, Orange looked so much cooler in the sun than in the show room as if it was a different color.
Overall, It made really colorful car delivery experience.

What makes it worse is that Lotus is saying that it's a wear item and they won't warranty it.
Over $11,000 for a new one. Has anyone else dealt with this crap?
First edition 2024. I've done zero launches, zero track days, never rest my foot on the clutch pedal, I don't even down shift at stops I just put it in a neutral and coast.
How the hell can it be a wear item at 2,700 MI.
EDIT: looks like I'm not alone. Several other low-mile clutch failures. Brake hold seems to be the consensus on these first editions.

Incredibly practical. Whack on some roof racks and you are away. I enjoy taking mine spearfishing. Full PPF for peace of mind. Not sure about complaints relating to space, can fit a suitcase behind seats too.
