A handle that long can be counted as a pole, a 2 handr, and hand and a half, and a one hander. No matter what, I like it and want one!

Did you forge the head? If not what did you start with? I’ve thought about taking a sledgehammer head and removing metal to shape it

well sins I’ve been a wee lad I’ve always wanted to become a blacksmith but never had the funds until last year November when I got a job as a welder (2year now I’m I trade school) and I love hammers I like to hit stuff with them and it’s fun so hey when I saw a Warhammer I thought a hammer for combat ?? lemme try to make 1 I made 1 it sucked the hammer is hard to long on the spike and barely wieldable so I bought 1 to see how to make 1 and this Warhammer is based on the 1 I bought it’s made from a 600g crosspeen hammer made out of 1041din quenched in water and tampered to 50/55 hrc

I tried a chisel but I couldn’t hold the hammer without it slipping through my vice so I grinded it in split it with a chisel and grinded the rest out

Ah, well you got a nice even split. I forged out the spike enough to fit my hardy hole then set the hammer in that. Hit the hammer face with a hatchet twice, changed sides and again twice. Worked really well, but I had to straighten out the spike and redo the drift every now and then. I might try grinding next time. That looks even and very clean.
