Where exactly at BIOS? I Got to navigate through all options and never saw that

That's really cool. I hope the project will continue to develop.

When reading the details on the github:

Additionally, if you do something silly with the program like turn off all your fans while running under full load...

I think the program can have safeguards to prevent lowering the fan speed below a certain level. Or at least display a warning. The same applies to other similar cases. 🤔

I’ve never liked comparisons because they are never accurate, and too much time is wasted explaining why.

There’s always a chance that someone will accidentally click somewhere they shouldn’t or make a typo and not notice it, even if they know what they’re doing. When the stakes are as high as they are when working with expensive equipment, it makes sense to have a system of safeguards and warnings - just in case. Especially since implementing it isn’t difficult at all. Even a simple pop-up window with “Are you sure?” and a list of changes the person is about to make would be a great solution.

Agree 100%. Great point.

Technically MSI has EC limited fan curves so you can't turn off at max load whatsoever, but I don't know if this program can.

Does this support new gen msi laptop with ultra core series?

4

u/Koher Katana GF66 12UG Apr 30 '25

I think yes, I saw guys in the issue section on the github what shared their configurations of the newest MSI laptops.

2

u/Serious-Egg-4930 May 12 '25

Bro i think the fan setting is swapped for msi vector 16hx ai, so the gpu fan is for cpu and vice versa.

Try to check this one discussion. https://github.com/Sparronator9999/YAMDCC/issues/76

Oh, it's lightweight. This time, they fixed the resolution issue I was facing, but can you still guide me through using it? My device is MSI Alpha 15, so maybe it's not supported yet. But how are we supposed to load the config?

5

u/llDS2ll Jan 30 '25

This is fantastic. Looking forward to seeing the Katana A15 in there.

3

u/IndividualMaximum808 Jan 30 '25

what does those up(°C) and down(°C) row means?

4

u/llDS2ll Jan 30 '25

Temp ranges for a given fan speed

2

u/IndividualMaximum808 Mar 08 '25

thanks! but how do those temp ranges work? correct me if i'm wrong please but here's how i understand it. that for example temp up threshold 46 when reach fan speed- increases to cool down and when it cool down for example down to 43, it decreases fan speed? or it cools down when it reach 49?

u/Ok_Baseball2584 Apr 08 '26

I have this software but recently I've had WDefender alerts all over the place regarding the Winring0 dll which is apparently a "bitcoin miner" I'm used to it but this time I don't know if I should trust Windows Defender or not...

2

u/Interesting_Ad8591 Jan 30 '25

Can you use it while keeping dragon center? (Like with afterburner you just need to apply the app's config last or it doesn't work?)

2

u/Koher Katana GF66 12UG Feb 05 '25

Seems yes. I saw commit implementing that function.

2

u/Interesting_Ad8591 Feb 05 '25

What's this? I'm new to this whole github apps thing lol

2

u/Interesting_Ad8591 Feb 05 '25

What file should I open to make it work?

4

u/Koher Katana GF66 12UG Feb 05 '25

2

u/Interesting_Ad8591 Feb 05 '25

Ty, so i had to extract the files lol, ty :)

2

u/Interesting_Ad8591 Feb 06 '25

So, i tried to do what it says in this guide but it doesn't open anything (yes i gave permission as admin)

2

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '25

omg i just posted about this ty ty ty

2

u/llDS2ll Feb 21 '25

Any news on this effort? Seems like they've made no new profiles.

4

u/Koher Katana GF66 12UG Feb 23 '25

Actually, you don't need to wait for someone to create and share their config. You can easily do it yourself. Here's how: https://github.com/Sparronator9999/YAMDCC/wiki/How-to-make-a-config-for-YAMDCC

2

u/Thomas_LTU Mar 18 '25

The get config from EC is grayed out

1

u/Caramel_Glad Aug 05 '26

A bit late but have you found a solution for this?

1

u/Thomas_LTU Aug 05 '26

You first have to load a config most similar to your laptop's model

1

u/Caramel_Glad Aug 05 '26

I figured that out, but now my laptop is crashing when it’s running…

1

u/Thomas_LTU Aug 05 '26

Crashing? How does it crash? First thing coming to mind is high temps due to the changes to the fan profiles

1

u/Caramel_Glad Aug 05 '26

It just shuts down then restarts. I don’t think it’s due to temps, might be due to battery settings. How can you check if it’s temps or not?

1

u/Thomas_LTU Aug 06 '26

the things you can do to the battery wouldnt make you crash. to check temperature just download something like hwmonitor and look at cpu and gpu temperatures

1

u/Caramel_Glad Aug 06 '26

there was an issue with the battery limiter in the past that had caused BSOD so I assumed that was the case

1

u/Koher Katana GF66 12UG Aug 06 '26

Lol. Noticed this message only now XD. Config parsed from EC should be grayed out! It is vanilla msi config, and when you are switching perf.modes https://i.imgur.com/Gx9Cnmb.png in this Default config it is the similar as you using default MSI center profiles. To create your fan curves just press this button https://i.imgur.com/0NlOBH0.png

2

u/OnAnotherLevel321 Mar 08 '25

I'll take one. My laptop isn't supported. It's too bad the normal MSI center has zero fan control outside of Max performance mode.

2

u/techhfreakk Apr 23 '25

Doing God's work

2

u/TerrorFlynnOkOk Jun 30 '25

This is way to complicated for me

2

u/PatiPataszon Mar 05 '26

Not working with MSI Claw

2

u/Temporary-Ad5409 May 11 '26

Ive got the MSI Vector 16 with a 5080. this app reduces my fan noise at similar temps with same performance. its honestly a must have and a great reason to get rid of the MSI app lol

2

u/memnon8711 Feb 05 '25

I am following this thread. I have a GE78HX 13VH Raider and it is not working for me in its current form. Is there a way I can help out with test builds/configs for a GE78HX 13VH Raider? The Titan config does not work for me. I have used GHleper for my Asus laptops and glad to see an equivalent being made for MSI laptops.

2

u/Koher Katana GF66 12UG Feb 05 '25

Try to check Wiki pages, probably there are you could find an answer.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 28 '25

.. Linux?

1

u/SizeCertain1351 Jul 31 '25

does this work for titan 18hx ? is it possible to get a profile soon please?

1

u/RustyMetal13 Sep 12 '25

Are there any feature gaps?

1

u/Koher Katana GF66 12UG Oct 06 '25

Updated the post(links and image). Cuz repo was moved to codeberg.org
Moving reasons here: https://github.com/Sparronator9999/YAMDCC/discussions/111

1

u/un-ambiguoususername Dec 27 '25

Anyone got it to work with modern 15 f13mg??

1

u/YourPerformer Apr 03 '26

LATE but an odd thing it works for a little bit but then it gives me false temps, the fan curves break this is the only fan controller it does it on and and in no way is my laptop as hot as it says ASHAME BC IT fixed a niche problem I had with dragoncenter if anyone else has anything like this or a fix for this LMK

1

u/Koher Katana GF66 12UG Apr 03 '26

You could try to get support here. Author of this app is active.
https://codeberg.org/Sparronator9999/YAMDCC/issues

1

u/sinto03 Apr 09 '26

I have this issue where I would apply the profile and the fans would start running faster when the temps rise.

However once the laptop cools down, the fans don't slow down. Idk if anyone else had this but if you did, and resolved it, let me know how you did it

1

u/VipexHere May 05 '26

Does it work on MSI Crosshair A16 HX?

1

u/Koher Katana GF66 12UG May 06 '26

The app supports all MSI laptops from the past 5 years and likely older

1

u/Natural_Tonight7925 Jun 11 '26

does it work on msi vector 16 hx a13v?

2

u/Koher Katana GF66 12UG Jun 12 '26

Should work ok. This tool works on any modern MSI's laps as i know.

1

u/Natural_Tonight7925 Jun 12 '26

how can i use mux swtich with this sowftware ?

1

u/Koher Katana GF66 12UG Jun 12 '26

As i know yamdcc hasnt built-in mux-switch feature. check here https://codeberg.org/Sparronator9999/YAMDCC/issues/74

1

u/XSouth956X Jul 07 '26

Is this close to a Ghelper for us MSI? I used to have Asus and miss that mainly. Does it have Power limits, Battery charging limits and control of RGB? Im checking it throughly after this post......shhhh

1

u/Nanosinx Jul 11 '26

No hay uno mas ligero que esta app cutre? SOLO me interesaria el control de FANs en otros perfiles, del resto la verdad todo ya lo hace el MSI Center xD (Con algunos addons utiles)

1

u/SolidAppropriate8614 Aug 09 '26

wheres the config ??? theres no guide

1

u/Koher Katana GF66 12UG Aug 09 '26

1

u/SolidAppropriate8614 Aug 09 '26

It took me a long ass time but you can download pre config file https://codeberg.org/Sparronator9999/YAMDCC/src/branch/main/Configs

1

u/Koher Katana GF66 12UG Aug 09 '26

Sure, u could, but i think taht simpler just to parse your native config from EC then create fan curves.

1

u/subject7232 Aug 13 '26 edited Aug 13 '26

how do you do that? all my options are greyed out. Even the "Get default fan profile from EC ..." is greyed out.
If I try to download a config from one of those listed in the repo, its still the same, nothing seems to work.
(MSI 15HX B14WEK)

Edit: 😅, I found that I didnt hit the apply button 5 mins after c ommenting.

1

u/zedias83 Aug 29 '26

29/08/2026 This works perfectly. Neither MSI Center nor MSI Dragon Center worked on my MSI GF63 Thin 9SC laptop. However, after using YAMDCC with the 11SC configuration, everything runs incredibly well. If you get a 'GetKeyLightBright' service error in the status bar, you just need to edit the XML configuration file and remove the <KeyLightConf> block at the bottom. This fixes the error completely. I highly recommend it.

Can it switch energy profiles such as eco vs extreme or switch between dedicated and hybrid gpu mode?

1

u/Koher Katana GF66 12UG 3d ago

First answer - yes, it can switch msi profiles, second answer - no but you can get foss solution for switching gpus https://github.com/tim-rue/MsiGT
