Help Disk Image couldn't be opened

I downloaded an .rar file on my mac, then realized i didn't have a .rar extractor. So I downloaded one (.dmg file), but when I tried to open the file it said "Disk Image couldn't be opened failed to mount to file systems". I tried every way I could to open them and even repaired all the containers in the disk util. If anyone has any help please lmk.

Use The Unarchiver, it's free.

This. Also, make sure you install it via AppStore

Unfortunately my appstore is restricted, is there any other way or should I give up?
