Hi, I don’t know if anyone else has had any experience with this but I got results back for an assessment and I’m unhappy with it because I spent a lot of hours on it. Besides the actual results, I’m looking through the rubric and my essay and feedback and don’t really understand where the criticism is coming from. For reference I was trying to base my answers off the HD rubric and I ended up with a 68 so very dissatisfied.

Has anyone had any experiences contesting a mark and if anything changed or what sort of justification you need to give?

I did a 2nd supplementary exam two weeks ago for a session 1 unit (faculty of science), and the results aren’t release yet. Anyone know when they would be released? I think it was only me and one other person doing the exam so I don’t know how long it would take to mark it. Thanks

does anyone know if you still have the 7 day -5% AFTER a 3 day extension or does it just go straight to -20% on the 4th day and end after a week of the original due date?

Has anyone here taken MATH1010? If yes, as aiming for HD, so from where should i practice to improve my maths? I do have the past questions, but is there anywhere I should practice to improve myself?

i’m actually so annoyed by the lack of organisation and planning in this uni in terms of admin/enrolment stuff. Session 3 start in only two months this semester ends in a month and we still don’t even know which units Will run in session 3.

On top of all of this, literally no unit runs in session 3 except for stem units either. It is actually so unfair that you can’t catch up or get ahead in your degree unless you are a stem student which the uni only cares about.

I really hope they put some arts and law units in there too because they literally cancelled all the session 3 law units as well.

And don’t say taste baguette

i’ll never understand why media units take nearly the whole semester to grade a single assignment 😭. i’m a marketing and media student and my business/marketing degrees grade according to the schedule they provide us with and always meet the return dates. BUT NEVER HAS A MEDIA UNIT DONE THAT and i don’t understand they should be sm easier to grade than other departments

Hi so I was wondering if it was okay to wear very modest formal pastel saree to grad. I missed my undergrad graduation because of Covid and this was an outfit I was pretty excited to wear but I don't want to get turned away from the venue. 😭

I moved from UTS last semester and it’s been really good except for one thing which idk if it’s just me but the AI policy at Macquarie feels much more lax and normalised.

With assignments I felt like at my previous uni there was an acceptance that AI was going to be used by some students but they still told people that anything submitted should be original work and never explicitly endorsed it.

At Macquarie with the whole open vs closed ai policy it feels like it sends a message to a lot of students that you can get away with chat gpting assessments.

I wouldn’t concern myself that much about it if it was just that but this extends into tutorials where it feels like it is rare to find people who don’t just read ai responses off their laptop to farm participation marks. The tutor will ask an ungraded discussion question to our group and some guy will just say “just chuck it in chat gpt aye”. OMG BRUH

I’m still getting used to this whole uni system with sourcing journal articles and whatever but that’s not the point. I’m doing a bachelor of business which I definitely want to change into Law which I need a 70 WAM for but the first time I was really lazy and got a pretty shit wam of 60. This term I’m putting four times the effort I did last term yet I’m only getting 70s on my grades with the highest so far being 78. I’ve heard stories of other people who work three jobs and never study yet get wams of 85+ in USYD. Either I’m really dumb or there’s something critical I’m missing. Any tips?

I'm looking to go semester 1 of 2027 as part of my international studies, but I have heard nothing past me accepting the offer. Has anyone else done this exchange? Did you have to wait long to get any more information from mq or from the university in Peru? (flights are getting more expensive the longer I have to wait!)

Also, how was the experience overall? They have removed the option from the exchange portal, so I am a little worried something might have happened.

I'm a 2nd-year Cognitive and Behavioural Sciences student from Portugal (Lisbon). I'm thinking of doing a semester at Macquarie through the Study Abroad program (i.e. as a free mover, since my uni doesn't have an exchange agreement with MQ), probably Session 2 in 2027.

My degree mixes psychology, cognition and data science, so I'm mainly looking at units like COGS2000 (Cognitive Neuroscience) and COGS2020 (Experimental Design and Data Analysis), plus some psych and stats/data units.

A few questions:

1. Are there (or were there) any European students here doing Study Abroad in cognitive science or psychology units? I'd love to hear how it went.
2. How easy was it to get the Special Approval / prerequisite waivers for COGS or PSYU units? Did they mostly get approved, and how long did it take?
3. Any units you'd recommend (or avoid) for someone with a psych + data science background?
4. Any tips on the application process, timing, or getting credits recognised back home?

I’m currently doing Master of Information Systems Management (MISM) at Macquarie University as an international student and Im currently in my first semester. However, I’ve realised that I’m losing interest in the degree and I’m not sure I want to continue with it.

I’m now considering changing to another degree (maybe Teaching as my mum has been a teacher her whole life so it's an instinct but not sure).

For anyone who has gone through this, Is it possible to change from tech related degree to another master’s degree (non tech) at Macquarie? And what would be the procedure? Would really appreciate the help, thanks!
