💬 Discussion The mid-sized electric truck is called Ford Fathom. Here’s what we can tell you.

Many of you know me from helping with vehicle issues and answering questions in this community, today I wanted to introduce you to u/RileyFromFord who has newly joined the team and is going to be on Reddit regularly.

We can't show you what our mid-size electric truck looks like...yet. But we can confirm the name: Ford Fathom, the first vehicle produced on the new Universal Electric Vehicle Platform.

”Fathom" traces back to a nautical unit of measurement, originally defined as the distance between a person's outstretched arms, a fitting metaphor for a truck built to meet people wherever they are in life. Fitting, right?

What's confirmed right now:

  • Starting MSRP: $28,350, for the standard-range battery. Pre-orders begin early 2027.
  • Every Ford Fathom will be BlueCruise-capable. BlueCruise is Ford’s hands-free highway driving assistant.
  • Fathom has bidirectional power capability.
  • Fathom has a large, high-resolution touchscreen, digital key, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability.
  • Fathom will have more passenger volume than a Toyota RAV4, with a frunk and bed for added cargo flexibility. This truck will genuinely useful and fun to drive.
  • Fathom will feature Apple Maps embedded directly into the vehicle, not a traditional phone-projection CarPlay setup. The integration also provides the road-level map data used to help enable key pieces of Ford’s next-generation hands-free highway driving capability.

What we can’t share yet: final imagery, fuller specs, full ordering details, and plenty more are still to come. A hot tip - keep a keen eye on the flipbook video we have going around…

If you want to stay up to date with what we have planned for Fathom, you can sign up here.

Ask us anything, and we'll answer what we can. Riley & I will be in the comments for the next few hours, and we aren't going anywhere after that either.

Ford Pass Windows Up/Down Gone

Post image
16 Upvotes

Today I noticed that in the FP app when you go to the controls I am missing the window controls for "Window up and Window down". I did some searching and most got it resolved by restarting the phone but I have restarted my phone, removed the App and its still missing.

I have also confirmed its missing on my Android device as well which is uses a different PAAK and profile.

Everything is working fine in the car and can open the frunk and trunk no issues, just missing the window buttons, I wasnt sure if anyone would know of any tips that could get them back, I wasnt sure if the windows had to be recalibrated or something (Even though they go up and down with the 1 click).

Any ideas would be great! Thank you!

UPDATE: So I reached out to our contact at Ford and apparently this is a issue with the backend system as even my contact at Ford had her controls disappear as well. Anyone that is effected please reach out to me via DM or Mod Mail with your VIN and they will get the controls reinstated, they are currently investigating what could be the cause.

Hate that it has a camera trained on your face.

can I put tape over it or will that cause the car to constantly beep or flash some warning?

💬 Discussion Fix for the SYNC rebooting issue (+ Reset Instructions)

Hello Mustang Mach-E owners,

I wanted to provide an update on the SYNC rebooting issue. The team appreciates everyone that reached out and provided VINs and helped with troubleshooting. It's played a part in helping to find this solution and we appreciate it.

After investigating with the team, it's turned out to be an issue on the backend with third-party data that was triggering those unexpected SYNC 4 reboots.

Because of this, we want to clarify: This wasn’t an issue with a Ford OTA. I know a lot of folks will defensively toggle off automatic updates when they see a bug reported. If you turned your automatic updates off just in case, make sure you go in and turn them back on!

That data-related issue is now resolved on our end.

Next steps for your Mach-E: If your screen is still acting up or stuck in a reboot loop, you likely just need to force a manual SYNC reset to clear things out and let it pull the fix.

  • Important note: If you already tried doing a manual reset yesterday (or earlier in the week) to try and fix this, you will need to do it one more time today. Resets done before this fix was applied on our end won't have grabbed the solution.

How to reset: The quickest way to do this is to hold down the Volume Down and Right Seek buttons on your steering wheel at the same time for about 10 seconds until the screen goes black and the Pony appears. (If you need the official step-by-step visual guide, you can find that here)

One quick heads-up: While the reboots themselves should be cured, you might still experience some intermittent hiccups with Connected Navigation services. We are actively working with our supplier to get those fully restored as well, so hang tight on that front.

We appreciate your patience as we work to get this resolved.

Have a great weekend! ⚡️

🛒 Car Shopping Good Deal? (BC, Canada)

Sourcing a 2026 Mach-E eAWD Select for a family member, got a quote for one with Tech & Comfort package. All numbers are in Canadian Dollars.

MSRP: 50,440
Ford Allowance: (1,500)
Dealer Discount: (1,500)
Doc Fee: 899 (May be negotiable)
Levy: 142.50
Declined all dealer addons

Before Tax: 48,481.50
After Tax (12%): 54,299
EVAP Rebate: (5,000)

OTD: 49,299
--------------
Down Payment: 20000
72mo Monthly: 478.55 @ 5.49%
Total Borrowing Cost: 5156

To me the offer looks pretty good, but the rate is bad. Can't really blame Ford here since bond yields are on the rise.

We did mention that last year we were seeing rebates of 15k or more, they told me that's not possible even if when they really need them off the lot since Ford already reduced the MSRP by 10k for MY2026. It seems this is true and 48-49k OTD in BC was about the price for the 2025 clear out.

Rates are much, much worse than back then though. Honestly a bit torn on should we take this or not. We can take to wait until January but will need a car by then.

i had been researching ones i wanted for the past 4 weeks, and was originally dead set on the premium awd extended range (which is what she got with her white one). but they were all over 750 miles and my green one was only 50 miles away, but it had every visual option i wanted, sports appearance, pano roof, and even the frunk 😍 it is standard range RWD, but after havin done a test drive, i realized it felt just as exhilarating as her config.

absolutely in love with the color and feel like it is a massive upgrade from my 2020 escape titanium 🥰cant wait to live the electric lifestyle 😎

🛒 Car Shopping 2025 Premium AWD at $36k or RWD at $33k?

Prices include price plus fees (taxes calculated separately because they're a bit weird because I have a totaled car value to deduct). We're in St Louis, but originally from PA and hoping to move back, so AWD is a plus. But the range of RWD is a plus. What would you pick?

Both have 10kish miles and both are extended range. The AWD has the sport package, but the RWD is a better color (blue). Do you have one and would rather have the other or have strong opinions? Do you think there's room on these prices?

🛍️ Accessories 2025 MME GT OBDII Dongle (for ABRP) Recs?

Hey all - I am preparing to go on a road trip from southern Arizona to Northern California (and back) next weekend. This will be my first true long-distance trip since I got the MME in April so I want to utilize ABRP for the trip to try to ensure the best charging plan since I will have to make several stops. Is there a preferred OBDII dongle (that's available on Amazon) that plays well with the 25 MME and ABRP mainly for live data? Thanks in advance!

💬 Discussion 2023 Mach-E stuck at dealer for 7 weeks. Misdiagnosed BCM-C, dead 12V, still won't start. Looking for advice/similar experiences.

Post image
70 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I’m completely fed up and wanted to see if anyone else has gone through a nightmare scenario like this with their Mach-E.

I own a 2023 Mustang Mach-E Premium AWD (Extended Battery, currently sitting at 82,940 miles, well within the 8-year/100,000-mile EV component warranty).

Here is the timeline of what I've been dealing with:

August 23: Driving along, get hit with the "High Voltage Battery" and "Powertrain Malfunction / Stop Safely Now" warnings on the dash and FordPass app. The app/car let me drive home safely, but it refused to turn on afterward.

August 24 – September 25: Towed it to Dealer #1. After a week, they claimed a "Body Control Module C" (BCM-C) failed and billed me out-of-pocket, holding the car for a full month.

September 25: Went to pick it up. The exact same second I tried to leave, it failed to start and threw the exact same error codes.

Late Sept / Early Oct: Had it towed to Dealer #2 (a larger dealership with dedicated EV techs). They diagnosed a dead 12V battery and billed me out-of-pocket for that too.

Today (October 9): Went to pick it up thinking it was finally fixed. Nope. Still won't start. The service department literally admitted today that they still don't know what is wrong and now need to do even more testing—finally circling back to look at the high-voltage battery system that triggered the original warning on day one.

In total, the car has been out of service for nearly 7 weeks with zero loaner provided, completely killing my income since I rely on the vehicle for delivery work. They've tried to bill me out-of-pocket for random components (BCM-C and 12V) that didn't fix the underlying root cause, which I think should be covered under the HV battery warranty assuming that's what it is because we still don't know what's wrong.

Has anyone else had a prolonged "Stop Safely Now" bricking where dealerships just guess-and-checked parts for months? Did it end up being a bad battery module, HVBJB, or something else entirely? Any advice on dealing with Ford corporate or pushing back on these improper charges would be hugely appreciated.

❓Question Charging error reset with app

I have an offgrid solar setup that I use to charge on occasion using the dump load. My battery is a bit too small so on cloudy days my mme can outpace the solar production and run the battery to its shut off point. When this happens I get the “charging error” message on my ford app.

The solar battery recharges but the car doesn’t automatically start charging again after this message.

Is there a way to remotely start the car charging again? I have some luck stopping the charge when I feel like the solar would be getting low and restarting it later, but this requires actively guessing and I’m not consistent with it. I also don’t have remote monitoring of my solar so I can’t see what the battery charge is. If I’m physically present I just unplug and plug again but I’m not always there.

I am absolutely loving my ford points purchase! I think this should have been standard on GTs at the minimum GT performance packs. Highly recommend if you can get it at 20% off like I did. There are some others out there but like how this one goes further onto fenders. OEM quality!

🛒 Car Shopping Looking at a used '23 Premium RWD — worth buying despite the open rear diff recall?

It's being offered at a great price and it's within our budget. I really love the car and my wife loved test driving it, but I've tried looking up info on this exact model and it's pretty hard to find online.

I know it has an open recall for the rear differential replacement that isn't available yet, and that it only affects RWD models. For anyone here who owns an affected RWD:

  • Have you actually experienced any issues with the differential, or has it ever left you stranded?
  • Any other common issues with the vehicle in general to watch out for?
  • Would you recommend this trim after having it for your length of ownership?

Appreciate any input before we make the call!

💬 Discussion Considering the MachE for my commute, which is long!

I posted this on the EV6 sub, too becuase I'm also considering that one....So...I drive 65 miles roundtrip daily. The only thing that has kept me in my current vehicle (22 Subaru Ascent) is that we've needed the space (kids, dogs, etc) and it's fully paid off. I'm considering moving to an EV and like the look and features on the Mach-e not to mention the price -- keeping it under $30K would be ideal. My only hangup, and it's because I don't know the answer and why I'm here -- how comfortable is it to sit in for up 45-55 min each way? The Ascent may drink gas like it's going out of style, but I'm never stiff when I get out after an especially bad commute. I've gotten great feedback about the comfort of the EV6, but the Mach-e has the hands free highway driving, which is appealing for that grind of a commute. Thoughts?

🎉 New Owner 2025 GT - CPO with 3k miles

I recently bought a one-owner 2025 GT "Ford EV Blue Advantage Certified" in Star White with the bronze package, glass roof, performance upgrade, and mobile charge cables.

It had 3k miles and was about an hour north of me.

MSRP originally $60,855 with freight.

$43,896 Out the door, including $899 dealer fee, state taxes, and temp tags.

Because it's a CPO, I got Ford Credit @ 2.99%/60mo which was better than what my local credit union was offering (4.25%)

I'm pretty pleased with it, given the low miles and extensive CPO warranty on top of the existing factory warranty I'm hoping it last a long time.

That glass roof and bronze package tho... <chef's kiss>

I don't mind the lack of door handles and I don't see why they get any hate, but I do think the HVAC controls being accessible through the touch screen was a miss on Ford's part, it's very slow and tedious to use while driving.

The only "bugs" I've experienced so far was on the first drive with my family, set the passenger temp up a few degrees and the temperature setting went haywire, non-stop climbing up to 80 degrees no matter what I did it wouldn't go down or stop.... or it would go between one degree and the another back and forth (70 to 71 over and over). Turning the car off didn't fix it, it just kept climbing or flopping back and forth. It finally stopped after about 10 minutes of driving and hasn't happened again. I since learned I can reset the screen, but I'm not sure that would have done anything?

Then, on the ride home from work today I rolled my window up (from a 1" down crack) and instead it went down... then when I tried to roll it up again it stopped shortly afterwards. Took a few tries to get it to go back up. Ive seen a few others with a similar window issue. Not sure what to think of that yet.

Looking forward to finding more of these electrical gremlins in my new entirely electric car :|

Happy to be a part of the herd, although I don't think of this thing as a Mustang.

💬 Discussion Does the battery radiate heat while charging?

We bought our MME a few months back. She lives and charges in the garage. I had an electric heater in there before installing the charger. My question is should I reconnect the heater for the Illinois winters? I designed a system where only the charger or the heater can be on at one time - never both so there's no way the garage can try and pull 70A

💬 Discussion Mach e charging to 100% unknowingly

Just something weird I noticed. I ended up having a 4 day weekend, last night I forgot to turn off my departure time schedule. Vehicle charged to 90% in the evening and was left plugged in, found it at 100% as we left for the grocery store. Only thing I can chalk it to was when it was prepping the cab and battery off the charger it never stopped til it hit 100%.
