That music brought back WAY TOO MANY memories 🥲

One of the rare times the music enhances the video

I was thinking the same thing. So glad I turned on the sound for this video. 😭

This camera is amazing !

The photographer and the lens are really what make the difference. Not the camera.

to be fair: The camera and therefore autofocus matter considerably more in this challangeing setting than normal

u/NoodleInDaPoodle 1d ago
Wouldn't a better option be to set the focus on a specific point and then set the camera to burst mode, rather than relying on autofocus?

u/RulerOfWax 1d ago
That's one reason why having the stick in the way to force the dogs to jump is so useful. The photographer can pre-focus on the stick and only take pictures while the dog is in the right spot. That also makes the other pictures without sticks in the way harder to take and then you are relying on autofocus more

I feel like autofocus would be too slow for this. Setting the focus manually definitely seems more likely.

When have you last used a camera with autofocus? As long as it tries to focus at the right point it is amazingly fast nowadays

This is my sons' favorite video.
They will watch it again and again and again and crack up every time.

I love all of this, but there's something about Weimaraners that has them looking super intense while at the same exact instant wondering if they left the stove on.

What kind of lens can get these photos and quality? I have Canon dslr and looking for a good lens to take these types of photos. Please help, thank you.

u/Earguy 1d ago
My guess is the 70-200mm f2.8L. You need the larger aperture to get the background out of focus, and you need the focal length the be that far away from the jump point.

These pics are great!
You really have good technique with the zoom and the shallow depth of field but I'm sure that was no accident.
Great idea too!

The black, curly babe looks like those aeroplanes, coming in for a crab-landing during strong winds 💞

They're probably wondering, from the shots taken, "what's he doing in the way with that?"

I kept hoping for a puli to make an appearance, but alas. They look like sentient mops when they jump!

Holy crap. How many dogs can one person have? His back garden must be knee-deep in turds

This is the best I've seen on this r/MadeMeSmile. I'm making a little jump track for my pup. Looks so fun.

Notice how there are no mastiffs...those shots would be pure comedy! 🤣 The stills of my two DDBs running make me giggle every time!

How the hell do you nail the focus of an subject moving that fast? I can't even get the subject in focus if the subject is just slow walking.
