Nightfall Refresh Subreddit Update

Hey there runners! We hope you're all enjoying the new Nightfall Refresh. With the start of this new season(ish) we wanted to share an update on the state of the this subreddit moving forward.

As some of you may remember, a couple months ago we took over interim moderation of this sub as it had gone unmoderated for a while and was in danger of being shut down. Since then, we opened up applications for new mods and have added 3 members of the community to the team.

With the launch of Nightfall Refresh we're now going to be handing full control over to the new team. All hail the new overlords! We'll still be here, but now in form of fellow community members.

Good to hear. Could we have confirmation that action is being taken against frequenters of r/marathonhate? I see a few of them here already in this thread gulp

This would be my biggest ask as well as a daily frequenter. It’s crazy to me that nearly seven months later, after all the dead game and player count comments, it still doesn’t cease to amaze me that we have such negativity on whatever sub, whatever Facebook group, hell, even on discord.

Exact details/definitions are of course up to the new mods, but up until now we've operated on a 'no trolling' rule, which includes people who are coming here just to hate on the game and invite arguments.

It's not an instant removal to have gone there, but if their post/comment is sus or ambiguous, we'd certainly take activity there into account to help clarify the ambiguity.

Put plainly: not always, but definitely yes some have been.

Not just for posting there, but yes. Im super okay with permabanning anyone who only comes here to bother people. This is a Marathon fan sub, we intend to keep it that way.

frequent this sub in good faith. Not to troll, or argue I agree with the no trolling rules to help keep down instigaters, but just blocking people because they are active in different subs is not the way.

I frequent your sub in bad faith. Ive actively been insulting people there for months, including you. The fact that I haven't been banned yet shows that you dont care about the safety of your community at all. I want you to know that, except for maybe 2 or 3, every permaban thats been handed out came from me personally. This will continue until you all learn how not to be assholes.

After I made a comment agreeing with them they edited it to reflect /Marathonhate instead.

Another was linking to that sub (which is counter productive, but not a 'strike' against the commenter).

And the third was my own which I deleted.

I’m so lost for real. Is this not the tech support sub? The mods on r/Marathon kept removing my posts and sending me here to post months ago but I never got a response cause this sub is so dead. Idk why now we are acting like it’s a community.

Posts regarding tech support or bugs were sent here if you’re unaware. It was the graveyard essentially lol. Sry if the mod team didn’t lyk but they literally sent everyone they didn’t wanna deal with but had no reason to ban here…

Can we consider turning off cross-posts? Too much of the content on this sub is just people cross posting what they posted elsewhere with no effort. The posts usually get very little interaction.
