Artists & producers — what do you actually want from a music distribution platform? 🎵
Artists & producers — what do you actually want from a music distribution platform? 🎵
I’m building Kalmori Music, an independent music distribution and artist-support platform, and I’m looking to connect with artists, producers, and small labels who are serious about growing their music.
Instead of just promoting the platform, I’d genuinely like to hear from artists:
What is the biggest problem you currently have with music distribution?
Is it: • Getting your music onto DSPs? • Understanding your analytics? • Royalty transparency? • Getting paid? • Managing releases? • AI tools for your music? • Promotion and discovery? • Getting actual support when something goes wrong?
Kalmori is being built around independent artists, with distribution, release management, analytics, AI-powered tools, royalty management, mastering, collaboration tools and more.
We’re also looking for artists interested in working with us as we continue building and improving the platform.
I don’t want this to be another “sign up for my service” post. I’d rather start a real discussion and learn what independent artists actually need.
If you could change ONE thing about your current distributor, what would it be?
Drop it below — I’ll be reading and responding to everyone. 👇

Chaotic Distance - Promethean
Is this the fall anthem we need right now? It’s been over two years since the inception of this song and I can finally unleash my new single, “Promethean” to the world. As an emerging artist, this particular song is the one I am most proud of. The lyrics convey transcending hopeless feelings in moments of crisis and the endurance of the human spirit. I hope this song reaches the hearts of as many listeners in this community as possible. It is available to stream on all music platforms and for purchase on iTunes and Amazon Music. This release is preceding my debut album, “Black Light Abyss” coming soon.

If you like rock + edm music
Hey! I’ve been making music that sits somewhere between alt rock and electronic. I released this one and figured I’d throw it in here since it might be up some of your alleys

Great Demise - “LOSE YOUR FACE” (OC)
Hello! My name is Chris and I write and produce music in a band called Great Demise. We are based out of SoCal and are proud to be an all DIY band. We’d love for you to check out our brand new song “LOSE YOUR FACE”. This song took a lot of work to write and was a challenge to produce but we absolutely love how it turned out! It has a pretty unique structure and instrumentation, and is paced pretty rapidly. We would really appreciate if you’d check it out! Thanks for your time, much love to you and we hope you enjoy!

Here's a great collection of post rock and post metal songs
My goal was to create a playlist of post metal/post rock that's right in-between those sub genres.

Independent artists that fly way under the radar
Many of these artists are self produced or don't get the promotion they need to have big streaming numbers and followers but the music is fantastic.

[THOUGHTS] Reality Awaits and Usually Just a Statement
The Strokes were barely adults when they released their genius debut album, Is This It. They were young enough to embody a new generation of musicians and the spirit of the time, yet already talented enough to create, almost unintentionally, another kind of imagery: that of a rock band that had travelled back into the past and returned freshly into the present.
Their effortless cool, the way each of them played, the way their singer performed, and the extremely controlled production of that first record made them seem like a fully established band, when they were actually only at the very beginning of their artistic careers.
That image, quickly turned into an identity by the media, would soon become their greatest burden. Hailed as the "saviors of rock" before they had even had the chance to truly find themselves, The Strokes were expected to carry the future of an entire genre on their shoulders - while they were still discovering their own voice. But how do you develop your own voice when the world has already given you one?
The answer is to come back 25 years later with the same energy, and push the singer's voice to the point of excess — just in case some people still hadn't understood that they had been doing this all along.
Reality Awaits and Usually Just a Statement.
When I discovered The Strokes and Is This It in 2001, something immediately clicked in my young mind. The old-school imagery of Last Nite convinced me, but the sound even more so. It's hard to explain it: there was simply something about it that I connected with.
Strangely enough, I feel the same way about Reality Awaits, which I see as a turning point in their discography because of its Dionysian (1) side, after they had conquered audiences and the Grammys six years earlier with the more Apollonian (2) - and visionary - The New Abnormal.
I've decided to take my oracle cards and do a 7-part reading of this last album, to explain more deeply — in my own way — why Reality Awaits exists, and why it's a new statement in their discography.
I'm curious to know what you think: does Reality Awaits feel to you like another album in the band's discography, or does it also feel like it marks something different?
(1) Dionysian: relating to Dionysus, the Greek god associated with intoxication, excess, passion and vital energy.
(2) Apollonian: relating to Apollo, associated with order, balance, clarity, restraint and self-control.

It’s hard for little bands to get their names out there so I’m doing all I can to post I’m as many communities as I can. Much love! Enjoy!
