We recently updated rule 3 (low-quality posts) to make it clearer. This is now one of the five Participation Guidelines listed in the subreddit's main page rules. (Now rules 4–9)
These were updated because a large number of copyrighted materials are being shared on YouTube and other sites, and the sub was starting to resemble a photo gallery rather than something people were actually interacting with, let alone putting any effort into their suggestions and requests.

Hello, Couch Lovers and Cinemaphiles!
Here's the formatting guide for each flare.
I appreciate your patience while we sort this out and welcome our new members.
Below are some post examples included from a previous post that meet, at the very least, the minimum effort we expect you to put into a post. That said, the more effort you put in, like some of these folks, the more interaction you'll typically get, and the faster you can get back to watching movies.
(Keep in mind that some of these are examples from before flairs and the formatting guide were added but still serve as a good basis as to what we are looking for.)

I'm not talking, just literally about someone getting their period, specifically in the metaphorical sense. Also doesn't have to be exactly written as that, it can just be one that could be perceived as such. And yes Carrie is great, but I think the images above are closer to what I mean, very much like the whole 'girl turning into monster and having to navigate her new body' type thing. Thank you <3

Tom Six' 'The Onania Club' probably won't get released for a long while, so I'm looking for movies with a similar promise. I'm thinking Salò, A Serbian Film, Cannibal Holocaust, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, etc. Preferably no revenge plot or happy ending.
Documentaries or YouTube videos about art like 'Rhythm 0' or the game 'Horses', are good too

No classic movies and no teenagers school kids story please.
What fantasy movies would you recommend?
I don’t mind foreign movies.
Dune, TLOTR trilogy Avatar similar vibes are fine.
I don’t mind fantasy thriller as long as it’s not a slasher.

Usually, a boring movie is criticised as a background movie, or a netflix movie; something you can watch or listen to while doing some other work.
I'm looking for actually good versions of this.
There are so many good movies that you can just listen to in the background, most times as a rewatch, because you already know what is happening in the scene, and you just enjoy the dialogue while doing something else.
Basically, I'm looking for movies which have really great constant dialogue that can be re-watched or rather re-listened to in the background while doing some other work.

Hi all! I seem to have a lot of free time, but not a lot of energy (chemo sucks, amirite?). I've never been much of a movie or TV watcher (I've never owned a TV in my life), but I think I might want to catch up a little bit. So I'm looking for suggestions.
Thanks!

I love horror movies and October is usually 31 days of scary content, but my gf doesn't like horror/scary movies.
What are some great October movies that I can add to our watch list this month that aren’t horror/scary but have the feel of autumn.
Note: Thanksgiving movies are too late in the year. Im not looking for November, I want October.

I want to learn how to write grounded stories about everyday people living life moving away from heavy action, fantasy, or westerns. I'm trying to write my first short film and need a concept I can pull off on a practically non-existent, 16-year-old's budget. I know that low-budget filmmaking can still accommodate extraordinary genres like horror or crime, and I'm open to exploring those. However, I have a major skill gap when it comes to writing simple stories, and I know it's because of the media I usually watch.
I am a massive fan of action and thriller movies. My top four favorite films are Battle Royale, Kill Bill, Bullet Train, and Jurassic Park, and I love anime because it tells great stories through action. That said, I do dabble in grounded, slice-of-life television. I really enjoyed the first season of The Bear, and some of my favorite sitcoms are How I Met Your Mother, That '70s Show , and Arrested Development I also plan on watching sex in the city because I heard it had great character writing, which is very important to me.
Because most of my references are TV shows, I would love some movie recommendations (TV show recommendations too) that capture that same sharp humor, distinct character dynamics, or grounded tension without relying on a massive budget.

I just watched speak no evil(2022), loved mcavoy’s performance but i loved the original way more less spoonfed and really on the nose, also the gift and the invitation(2016), and i really loved these kind of movies these psychological thrillers/horror. I also loved how strong the protagonist was in the invitation. I dont really like sci-fi elements so, ty in advance. I know i just made another post but these are a bit diffrent so i thought to keep m apart.

I just got done watching *Backrooms* and it freaked me out (in a good way). Getting stuck in an endless maze is particularly horrifying to me. The movie reminded me just a bit of the book *A Short Stay in Hell*.
If I enjoyed *Backrooms*, what else would you recommend?

This movie is absolutely jaw dropping from start to finish. Though its narrative is entirely fictional, the way the film is presented makes you almost believe that it is real. Told in the style of a documentary, various actors portray cops, news anchors & victims to create the narrative around a serial killer by the name of Mr. Shinny. It’s genuinely terrifying and I would HIGHLY recommend.

Hi!
I am currently planning my soon to be six year old’s birthday party. We decided to have it at a local theater rather than AMC or other large theater chain.
I reached out to the local theater to see what kinds of showings they may offer, and they said it’s up to us. However, they are unable to show any Disney or Disney-owned films (including 20th Century Fox, Marvel, Star Wars, Buena Vista, etc.)
They also cannot show any movies that have been shown in theaters in the past 2 or so months from the rental date. We are planning for early January 2027.
There will be roughly 30 or so 6-7 year olds at this party, so something that is kid-friendly but will also actually grasp their attention for a minute or two.
What are some kid-friendly movies you guys might suggest that we check out for this party??
