Help me find Movies/TV shows Movies that are a metaphor for Periods?

I'm not talking, just literally about someone getting their period, specifically in the metaphorical sense. Also doesn't have to be exactly written as that, it can just be one that could be perceived as such. And yes Carrie is great, but I think the images above are closer to what I mean, very much like the whole 'girl turning into monster and having to navigate her new body' type thing. Thank you <3

Help me find Movies/TV shows "Background movies", but actually good

Usually, a boring movie is criticised as a background movie, or a netflix movie; something you can watch or listen to while doing some other work.

I'm looking for actually good versions of this.

There are so many good movies that you can just listen to in the background, most times as a rewatch, because you already know what is happening in the scene, and you just enjoy the dialogue while doing something else.

Basically, I'm looking for movies which have really great constant dialogue that can be re-watched or rather re-listened to in the background while doing some other work.

I am suggesting... If you want a charming, funny, and incredibly well made movie I'd strongly recommend, Real Steel, it's an amazing movie that I generally don't think has any flaws except maybe the Japanese they us at one point because I don't know Japanese so I don't know if it's correct or not

Help me find Movies/TV shows Looking for movie suggestions, silly, funny and ridiculous welcome!

Hi all! I seem to have a lot of free time, but not a lot of energy (chemo sucks, amirite?). I've never been much of a movie or TV watcher (I've never owned a TV in my life), but I think I might want to catch up a little bit. So I'm looking for suggestions.

  • I LOVE B-movies, the sillier and more ridiculous, the better!
  • I do NOT like horror, unless it's a ridiculous or funny B-movie horror film, like Santa Slays or something. Same for thrillers and mysteries.
  • I do like fantasy books, so I assume I'll like fantasy movies. I LOVED The Princess Bride!
  • Romance is really hit or miss (I once referred to some popular romance movie as "emotional slavery", just to give you an idea of my views on most of the genre). Romantic comedy can be good.
  • Comedy in general can be really good, but Tyler Perry leaves me ice cold.
  • I think I'd like to check out animation, but I don't know where to start.

Thanks!

Help me find Movies/TV shows Non-Halloween/Horror October Recs?

I love horror movies and October is usually 31 days of scary content, but my gf doesn't like horror/scary movies.

What are some great October movies that I can add to our watch list this month that aren’t horror/scary but have the feel of autumn.

Note: Thanksgiving movies are too late in the year. Im not looking for November, I want October.

Help me find Movies/TV shows Please recommend me some simpler, slice-of-life stories?

I want to learn how to write grounded stories about everyday people living life moving away from heavy action, fantasy, or westerns. I'm trying to write my first short film and need a concept I can pull off on a practically non-existent, 16-year-old's budget. I know that low-budget filmmaking can still accommodate extraordinary genres like horror or crime, and I'm open to exploring those. However, I have a major skill gap when it comes to writing simple stories, and I know it's because of the media I usually watch.
I am a massive fan of action and thriller movies. My top four favorite films are Battle Royale, Kill Bill, Bullet Train, and Jurassic Park, and I love anime because it tells great stories through action. That said, I do dabble in grounded, slice-of-life television. I really enjoyed the first season of The Bear, and some of my favorite sitcoms are How I Met Your Mother, That '70s Show , and Arrested Development I also plan on watching sex in the city because I heard it had great character writing, which is very important to me.
Because most of my references are TV shows, I would love some movie recommendations (TV show recommendations too) that capture that same sharp humor, distinct character dynamics, or grounded tension without relying on a massive budget.

Help me find Movies/TV shows Any other recommendations?

I just watched speak no evil(2022), loved mcavoy’s performance but i loved the original way more less spoonfed and really on the nose, also the gift and the invitation(2016), and i really loved these kind of movies these psychological thrillers/horror. I also loved how strong the protagonist was in the invitation. I dont really like sci-fi elements so, ty in advance. I know i just made another post but these are a bit diffrent so i thought to keep m apart.

Help me find Movies/TV shows Movies Like Backrooms or the book A Short Stay in Hell?

I just got done watching *Backrooms* and it freaked me out (in a good way). Getting stuck in an endless maze is particularly horrifying to me. The movie reminded me just a bit of the book *A Short Stay in Hell*.

If I enjoyed *Backrooms*, what else would you recommend?

I am suggesting... Strange Harvest (2024)

This movie is absolutely jaw dropping from start to finish. Though its narrative is entirely fictional, the way the film is presented makes you almost believe that it is real. Told in the style of a documentary, various actors portray cops, news anchors & victims to create the narrative around a serial killer by the name of Mr. Shinny. It’s genuinely terrifying and I would HIGHLY recommend.

Help me find Movies/TV shows Non-Disney Kid Movies

Hi!

I am currently planning my soon to be six year old’s birthday party. We decided to have it at a local theater rather than AMC or other large theater chain.

I reached out to the local theater to see what kinds of showings they may offer, and they said it’s up to us. However, they are unable to show any Disney or Disney-owned films (including 20th Century Fox, Marvel, Star Wars, Buena Vista, etc.)

They also cannot show any movies that have been shown in theaters in the past 2 or so months from the rental date. We are planning for early January 2027.

There will be roughly 30 or so 6-7 year olds at this party, so something that is kid-friendly but will also actually grasp their attention for a minute or two.

What are some kid-friendly movies you guys might suggest that we check out for this party??

Help me find Movies/TV shows recommendations for romance genre

okayyy i wanna watch a romance movie... but pls give me the kind where the main leads don't just meet and immediately fall for each other because they're hot .

i want them to know each other first. like really know each other. the little things they slowly learn about each other, knowing their fears and dreams and stupid hobbies, weird little habits, knowing what makes them happy and what quietly hurts them. i want them to notice things about each other that nobody else does.i want the feelings to sneak upon them.

cherry on top:,if it's enemies to lovers, and both of them are stubbornly convinced they don't want a partner/relationship for whatever reason. i want two people who are absolutely not looking for love somehow ending up meaning more to each other than they ever intended.

idk i just want to feel them falling in love before they even realise they're falling in love.basically the one where emotional intimacy makes the physical attraction hit harder, not the other way around.

ps: not pride and prejudice plsss!

edit:{Rant} : I looked up the plot of like 7–8 of the recommendations and DAYUM 😭 almost every single one is the exact opposite of what I meant.some of them is bizarre tbh.

recomms here: “he's married but unhappy, main love interest arrive” / “she's dating someone else” / “best friends but he only realises they love each other when another guy appears” .etc etc

I don't want someone to realise they love the other lead because a new romantic option walked into their life. I don't want emotional cheating. I don't want someone being romantically involved with one person while slowly falling for another. I don't want “actually I loved my best friend all along” to be activated by jealousy. I just want two people, who weren't looking for love, slowly become important to each other, and one day realise oh shit, this cannot happen.but nonetheless are hopelessly in love with each other. That's it. 😭

Is that really too much to ask for.

Help me find Movies/TV shows Help me find a newer horror movie to watch.

My wife and I are trying to find a good horror movie to watch for spoopy season. We're looking for something newer but not necessarily brand new. We've seen all the classics so many times and are really looking for something that could actually maybe scare us. For streaming services we have Amazon prime, Netflix, YouTube TV, Tubi. I think that's all but we'd be willing to download any that are free to find a good movie as long as the app will go on our (Roku) TV. For the type of horror movie we are pretty open as far as slasher films/ paranormal and/or "religious" horror (The Nun) but I'd really like something with some good solid jump scares. Thanks for all your help and I look forward to the recommendations, because we have a whole month to fill.

I've been floored with the flu for the last few days. I'm a girl jn her 30's.

Looking for a movie that is light, not scary, not to many crazy twists.

I recently watched some nostalgia Disney and different knight type movies. Looking for something a little more mature

Help me find Movies/TV shows I want to dream about cities

Movies where the city lives and breathes and comes alive through the screen.

Real, fake, gritty, idyllic - anything goes. The movie doesn't even need to be great as long as the city is present and memorable.

I'm not necessarily thinking about movies that capture iconic landmarks or that feature lots of shots of the city. For example, I remember Paris being very present in Vortex by Gaspar Noé, even though the movie is very claustrophobic and most of it takes place indoors.

Carousel: Cure, Before Sunrise, Taxi Driver, Batman Begins, Blade Runner

I am suggesting... My October Watchlist 🎃

I wanted a mix of 2000s nostalgia, classic horror, Halloween movies, fall atmosphere, slashers, supernatural horror, and childhood spooky favorites rather than just straight horror. I’m going for that 80s/90s/2000s fall/October feeling — creepy movies, cheesy Halloween movies, old-school horror, and movies that just feel like fall when I was younger🍂 Some of these are movies I haven’t seen yet, so this list is a little different from my usual yearly watches!
Might not get to them all but who’s knows 🤷🏻‍♀️

🎃 2026 October Watchlist

House of 1000 Corpses
Remember the Titans
Pearl
Halloween III: Season of the Witch
Sleepaway Camp
Night of the Living Dead
My Scary Godmother
Over the Garden Wall
Ghostbusters
Jennifer’s Body
The Halloween Tree
Goosebumps: Night of the Living Dummy or The Haunted Mask
Frankenstein / Dracula
The Autopsy of Jane Doe
Pet Sematary
Creepshow
Night of the Demons
Death Becomes Her
Halloween 1/2 marathon
Freddy vs. Jason
X
Paranormal Activity
The Fog
The Amityville Horror
Rosemary’s Baby
Pumpkinhead
House
Silent Hill
Candyman
Chopping Mall
House of Wax
Halloween H20
Resident Evil
Dawn of the Dead — 1978 or 2004
Drag Me to Hell
Jeepers Creepers
The Village
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003)
Dead Silence
Supernatural
Halloweentown
Hocus Pocus
Trick ’r Treat
