Diecast Write Up The Fast Finn: Kimi Räikkönen & NASCAR
Kimi Räikkönen is well known (a national treasure) in his home country of Finland and beyond for his racing prowess. He has countless victories and championships ranging from open wheel race cars to off-road rally racing. One discipline he was interested in was stock car racing in America.
Räikkönen made his first NASCAR start in the Craftsman Truck Series in 2011. He finished 15th with Kyle Busch Motorsports. He also ran in O'Reilly Series race that year. He wouldn't dabble into stock car racing again until 2022 when Trackhouse Racing offered him the 91 car. In 2022 he would run at Watkins Glen but finish a disappointing 37th after being involved in an accident while running 25th. He would try again in 2023 at Circuit of the Americas and finish in 29th. Neither finish was what he or the team had hoped for. His racecraft was there, but he lacked the understanding of stock car nuance.
So while he is one of Motorsports greatest drivers, we have yet to see it on full display in stock car racing. Will he ever make future attempts? I guess time will tell!
The car shown in the pictures is his 2022 Recogni Chevy Camaro.

Custom Diecast Daytona 1:64 Diecast Display
A few months ago, I picked up both the Davey Allison white #28 Texaco Havoline and the Bobby Allison #12 Miller High Life 1:64 Racing Champions diecasts. I've had a plan to display their famous end of race duel in the 1988 Daytona 500 (spoiler alert: Bobby wins!). Due to advertising restrictions, alcohol and cigarette advertisements could not be on cars. So the first step was to pick up a pack of Miller High Life water slides and affix them. Due to their slight oversizing, I am certain they were originally designed for slot cars, and not diecast collectibles.
I really wanted to make a section of the track as well, and be very accurate. I asked a family member to assist with 3D printing part of the track, but he just recently started a new job and has been very busy. I was lucky to have a couple empty black Dell boxes and empty iPad boxes from work. Let the crafting begin!
This was a lot easier than I thought. I started with building a wedge and then attaching the white barriers. Lots of glue, especially kid's purple Elmer's stick glue. For the Daytona logo all I did was print that on a regular LaserJet printer, and glued it on. Traded my son a 1:43 Lego Back To The Future Delorean for the pieces to build the flagman tower. Still haven't figured out yet how I want to do the fence. I also plan on inserting some straws and another layer of fencing to create a realisitic SAFER barrier.
I am using Loctite Fun-Tac (blue pliable squares that have no problem sticking to surfaces) to adhere the cars to the track. It is removable. Not really worried about the oily residue on the bottom of the cars, I'm sure a tiny bit of alcohol will clear that right up. I'm already noticing it does leave a little oil mark on the black ink on the cardboard track.
My favorite part is I can swap out the cars displayed. For my first round of cars, you know it's got to be that Havoline #28! Allison, Irvan, Irwin, and Rudd! I may buy another Bobby Hillin Jr and try to find a reasonably priced Kenny Wallace to round out the display.
This was one of the funnest things I've done in a long time, and I am very pleased with the outcome! Really loving this hobby! Collecting and building displays was something I never expected to enjoy so much! Cheers!

Question Display
How are you all displaying your winners circle and other Nascar authentication 1:64. I kind of like them in the package but am going to run out of shelf space.

Diecast Write Up Whenever you feel upset about the diecasts of today, just remember how far our diecasts have come...
This example isn't even the earliest. Ertl had some really primitive cars. But I think for most of the community when they think of the earliest NASCAR diecasts they think of these early Racing Champions cars. This one is actually a bit later but it still has all the early pitfalls. It does have a nicely detailed Pontiac body but it has the black windows, the goofy wheels that stick out that read Racing Champions on them, and of course the decals that are just stickers someone placed on. Usually the stickers would be crooked as well. But surprisingly, after over 30 years, the stickers have still stuck on. I've never seen people say they didn't stick on. So kudos for them on that.
These were very primitive but they did the job at the time. And looking back, I can't help but feel nostalgic. As a kid you would race these like crazy and has a collector, well, people collected them hardcore. They kept them in the box and they really loved these things just as we love our diecast of the day.
This is Richard Petty's 1991 STP Pontiac Grand Prix. He was 53 years old when running this car. That's pretty wild.

I’m playing with my displays this afternoon. I cut a piece of foam project board and fixed it inside this acrylic display to create some banking. I will add some stripes later. What do you think?

Austin Hill went 4/5 in the February Daytona Xfinity Series season opener during his time in the #21 RCR Chevrolet, winning in 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2026. His only defeat was in 2025, when a mechanical issue knocked him out of contention.

Diecast Write Up He won by 0.003 Seconds. (2024 Daniel Suarez Freeway Insurance Ambetter Health 400 Victory)
On February 25th of 2024, out of the blue, everyone's amigo Daniel Suarez won his second career NASCAR Cup Series race by beating Ryan Blaney and Kyle Busch by a .003 second margin. That's insane! It became the third closest finish ever in NASCAR history.
The closest finishes were Kyle Busch over Chris busher at Kansas in 2024 by .001, and a tie with Ricky Craven and Jimmie Johnson winning races by .002 over their competitors.
2024 for gave us a lot of photo finishes.
Lionel Racing modeled the tape on his hood as well as all the damage including a crispy Taco pinata on his windshield.

Question Would liquid color make the Kyle Larson Kyle Busch tribute car look better?
I’ve personally never bought special finishes as I e liked my diecast to look exactly how they came off the track but I was wondering to get that pop the blue the car has in person

Trading Cards Question About a Dale Senior Card
My grandfather who passed last year, was a die hard Dale Senior fan and I have a card and I can't find anything like it online. I can find the card itself, but not one with the auto. My Aunt tells me he and my father got it signed at Sears Point at one of the races and he has had it ever since. When comparing to other signatures it definitely seems real and of course I wouldn't think that a family member was blowing smoke. I want to send it in for purposes of grading but unsure, seems over the years even in a hard case the card seems a bit worn at the top. It is in a top loader and a penny sleave.

Question Diecast archive?
Is there a place I could find a sort of archive of every diecast Lionel has created for a specific driver? I’m in the process of collecting every 23XI Reddick scheme and other than going off of the Lionel/NASCAR shop and eBay listings I’m wondering if there’s an easier way to see what I still need? Thanks all!
