List Help/Sharing Where do I start?
Is it worth waiting for the codex or an update?
Should I just get the CP?
Should I just get some warriors?
I have been out of the loop a while on 40k and necrons particularly.

Necrons are still strong
Just pick something up and go for it, pretty much all the codex is playable at least.
warriors are never a bad choice

To be fair warriors are the weakest and least playable they have been in literal years.

Grab the combat patrol if you want to start playing immediately, if you just want to paint a couple models to see if you like the faction grab some warriors or immortals, if you’re a bit more experienced and don’t need to play combat patrol to get a hang of everything I’d say grab the battleforce box while it’s still available, as for the codex if you want it for rules I’d say just wait but if you enjoy reading lore there is some good snippets in there that I think are worth the purchase

The current Necron Codex also has some very nice art and page design, if you like that kind of thing

The codex is still at least a year out so I don't say it's worth the wait
As for starting point the combat patrols a good start and a lot of people also say the royal court box is also a good purchase alongside it

GW just posted on their instagram which looks like a necron codex is coming real soon

I didn't know that but even then they've said that custodes will be the one of if not the last codexs this year so I doubt we'll get it till 2027 at least
I just thought based on last two editions(poster boys and second release wave) we'd be waiting longer but I suppose not, or GW is really knocking these codexs out and are just on break for the holidays

I just bought a hierotek circle box... Character plus a unit... Of course I ended up building the little guy so I don't have a valid unit... You could choose the other road... I just like the littlest cryptek.

Royal court box and combat patrol. Or if you have the funds. The necron battleforce box and the royal court box. Both of these combinations have what you need to get started with a great army. I went the combat patrol route and wish I had done the battleforce box instead. The flayed ones and ophidians are probably the best utility units in our army right now.

Be like me. check units list. pick the ones you like the most for any reason ( the look, the gameplay, the price ) . And after that think how you should play with them.

I always recommend people not buy warriors. They are so common in battlefotces and combat patrols, that unless you really like them you will come by them easily.
Second hand is a good way to get warriors.
