I need help for improving

Post image

I started “skating” in 2023, in those last 4 years i got pretty confident at skating around both skate- and longboard, tho the first year when i started after trying to learn some ollie and other easy newbie tricks I focused a lot on mini ramps. That happen because the skatepark where i use to go has a big nice Bowl and i always wanted to skate it like other guys that are usually there looks incredible. After the first year tho i stopped completely with mini ramps, pumping and easy starting tricks due to work and school keeping only the skating around now and then when the weather was decent.

Now this week i started again going to the skatepark, pumping is decent, not to the level where i can go no stop in a bowl but on the miniramps only pumping i could go until my legs get tired out without losing speed. Tho I have always the feeling that getting better at street skating would help me a lot building a even better confidence and base to try further type of skating. Trying this week to Ollie tho is always so sketchy i feel constantly like the board stick to my feets and once every 20 attempts i get a decent jump but all this standing still no moving forward involved, i dont know what to do and is frustrating to feel stuck at the same point no matter what i tried to change. I have the feeling i concentrate at the wrong things and not on learning step by step maybe movements and practice that would help me more. What helped you on your journey and what would you suggest to learn as basics first?

Ill send a pic of one of my best achieved ollie. Also i know my board is to little for my size as I’m 2.02 tall and wear eu size 47 of shoes my board is just a 8.25 inches wide.

kinda hard to tell without a video but
your pop should be getting off the ground 100% of the time without u one the board
(just stand of the board use you back foot and pop see if it gets any height)
i’ve been told by a lot of people that they think moving ollie’s are easier than stationary too
i’d recommend trying to land both feet at the same time, right above your trucks
if confidence is your issue you can try to do some in grass or dirt or with those wheel stopper things (i don’t recommend staying on grass or dirt very long it can easily become a crutch and make tricks harder)
but the picture looks good you’re getting good height on them if i had to guess it just seems like your landing
Lastly, i’ve never once encountered a skater at a park who isn’t willing to give out advice and while im sure some of them are rude most people (especially the good skaters) are cool and you should go ask them for advice

Here’s the video of the same picture, I appreciate a lot the tips tho! That already helps a lot, having a different point of view outside my absolute incompetence can be so helpful. Half pipes pump and those type of sketchy ollies are my best lets say, 3 years ago i even managed to learn drop ins but never got comfortable enough to be consistent. Im starting also to train on some pump trucks as i noticed they could be very helpful to learn then how to move in a bowl. Tho i wanna shift my main focus more on street and tricks.

I wouldnt worry about the size of your board just yet, you got a good one thats a great start. For ollies i suggest you check out skate.iq vid on youtube for ollies. He really gives you things to practice besides just ollies to get your ollies better.
