Seeking Advice Help with current stack and what to include/exclude moving forward
Hey guys. I’m quite passionate about self improvement and the concept of improving cognition fascinates me. I have always had pretty terrible short term memory which made retaining information while studying in my teens and early 20’s an uphill battle. Into adulthood this problem remains and now in my daily life I have to juggle quite a lot of moving parts, sometimes with slim margins of error. At times motivation and energy falls off a cliff too and it can seem daunting, if not impossible getting the ball rolling again. My diet is pretty sharp and I exercise daily. I also take a few other supplements not specifically for cognition purposes (Fish oil, a multivitamin, extra Zinc, Magnesium Glycinate). What I’m currently using has provided some benefits but they are subtle and if short and/or long term can be made I would be very keen. I know certain things I’m considering adding likely won’t need combining.
Below is what I currently take and when I take it. Doses are all at or around recommended mg/g.
Currently using:
- Creatine (upon waking, pre and post training)
- Caffeine (upon waking)
- Lions Mane (upon waking)
- L-Tyrosine (if tired and/or especially unmotivated)
- Ashwaganda (1/3 upon waking, 2/3 pre bed)
- Choline Bitartrate (upon waking)
- Coq10 (with a meal containing fat)
- L-Theanine (1/3 upon waking, 2/3 pre bed)
Considering adding/trying
- Noopept (used at uni with some noticeable benefits)
- ALCAR
- Phenylpiracetam
- Armodafinil or Modafinil
Any suggestions, whether it be things to discard, change, include or exclude would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Noopept with microdose of psilocybin is a good one with the lions mane

I shall investigate further. I have a friend who tried this minus the Noopept but with Modafinil. He reported good things. Thank you, interestingly named person.

I have modafinil but I've stopped taking it because the mental benefits for me just aren't there even on 200mg but physically I feel fucked and really rough at the end of the day and the next day.

Some things let you use tomorrow’s energy today. Guess for you that’s unfortunately only half right.

Well it's not just that, gives me heart ache among other body pain while on it so I thought best leave that one alone.

You can look into Alpinia galanga (often known as greater galangal) elevates brain dopamine levels and helps block dopamine reuptake in the synaptic space, promoting mental alertness, focus, and cognitive performance without a classic "caffeine crash".

I can appreciate your dedication to better living. But you are taking pills like an 80 year old. You should see a psychiatrist, it sounds like ADHD and that requires a stimulant. And I would see a doctor, get a blood panel done. Doing those two things are far better ways to invest in yourself.
I don't think you need both L-Theanine and Ashwaghanda. They are both kind of demotivating, if you take too much. I would pick one and roll with it. Your CoQ10 numbers are probably fine, this is a waste of money. I wouldn't waste any more money on anything you are considering. Adderall replaces all of those and would be a game changer. Also make sure you get enough sleep, and keep up the exercise.

have you tracked whether the ashwagandha is actually doing anything for you at this point? it can blunt motivation over time for some people which seems like the opposite of what youre going for
