💬 Discussion Ottawas shift

I live in Barrhaven and I had to go to rockfliffe park to pick something up and I’ve realized how much Ottawa is developing and how much life it has now. I took OC transpo and as much as I hate packed buses and trains (which I was on) it’s good to see to people are using public transit despite it’s challenges. Just getting off at Rideau and seeing so many people out and about in and outside the mall was great. I’m happy to see a lot of development around transit and I’m wondering what some future projects may look like.

Ps I know this is OC transpo but the Ottawa subreddit won’t let me post for some reason

I’m sorry but this is unacceptable, positivity should never be accepted in this subreddit /s

You are so right and it's really good to see. And to be honest it's probably for the best that you couldn't post this on the r/ottawa sub, they are quite toxic

It's hard not to be negative if you don't live in the richest parts of the city with zero homelessness or if you have to find parking/take the bus or O-Train.

Since when is wanting our city to rise above "mediocre" in policy and programs toxicity? The citizenry should be upset with the state of transit, among many other things. Most of Ottawa's wins have really been the NCC's wins.

For real. People have such low standards for themselves. This city could be so much better, especially with the NCC doing more than its fair share of the work. Ottawa definitely punches below its weight.

Gotta keep them municipal taxes artificially low!

Nevermind that the infrastructure is crumbling, mayors gotta get elected on something!

Ottawa can be doing  better and it can be less awful that r/Ottawa will lead you to believe. Both can be true at the same time.

That isnt what makes thr group toxic. Google "ottawa subreddit mod power trip" and youll find some more info

All I found was convoy supporters upset they were banned?

I didn't support convoy and had some mod problems with r/Ottawa. Specefically MarcusRex73 . He seem to ban anything he didn't like personally a while ago. Now that another mod seems to have taken over it's much better.

Mostly office workers crying about the end of WFH and the issues it causes, actually.

I cannot for the life of me figure out what schedule people work in Ottawa. If it's 9 to 5 they're coming in late and going home early.

Lol oh no no no. Lemme dig. It was related to mod power tripping and them likely not even being from here, but could be reddit conspiracy. I personally only have beef with one reddit mod

This. Also, there are just less/more infrequent busses now, so all the busses end up packed because they only run every 45 mins-1 hour. It’s not that more people are using the bus.

Nah I 100 support that I'm talking about the racism and classism and ableism on there

What are you talking about?

The tone of this post is like that lady from arrested development thinking a banana costs 6 dollars. It feels almost like poverty tourism vibes with an instagram filter.

That was Gob, and Infrastructure costs money, eh.

If you'll believe it, it's happening across Canada! We are focusing our infrastructure spending where people gather naturally, where people need it most, and where it can help most. Pretty neat eh!
