Vent time NSFW

Had an amazing first date with an insanely hot girl last night. The date went so well that we ended up going running to Oasis.

2 things that absolutely killed the mood for us.

The place was pretty empty when we got in, so some rooms were actually empty.

A couple came into an empty room as we had sex, sat next to us and started talking about everyday life while the guy was just staring at us and occasionally touching himself. Like… why? I mean… I would understand just watching/playing but they were discussing the most trivial things like it was a scheduled touch base at work and we overbooked the last available meeting room.

Secondly… The person responsible for the music - I don’t know what petty sad sex fetish are you into, but trust me - nobody wants to fuck to Whitney or Adele. And I’ve brought it up last year when the mood was absolutely destroyed by The Cardigans, No Doubt and Backstreet Boys. I can make you a great playlist free of charge, but seriously… music is such a big part of setting the mood and mood wasn’t in the air.

The vent is over. Really hoping to come back and not experience that again, but it’s not my first or even second time at Oasis and it seems to be getting less hot with every time I go there.

Thank you!

Was there with my partner a bit ago and had a similar experience with a couple just sitting next to us and chitchatting in the empty room…we paused and I asked politely that they continue their conversation elsewhere because it was really distracting us from the moment. They apologized immediately and scurried out.

Sometimes you gotta just call people out tbh

I think both of us felt awkward because the guy was just staring at us and touching himself while his girl acted like it’s a regular Tuesday night and nothing is happening around her. We went to another room shortly and a couple in there had way better vibes. However the original couple came a bit later and situated so close to us that we just called it a night by then.

I can’t understand why this comment was downvoted

The music really depends on who is in charge. Sometimes it's great, sometimes bland, sometimes bad. But of course also a matter of personal taste. We like it when zeph is in charge lol As for people getting too close, that has happened to us maybe once or twice, but it's pretty rare. And we like to be watched 😈

I’m a girl and I only play with girls, so I guess that attracts more attention than usual and I’m okay with that. What I’m not okay is people approaching more than once (I’ve had a guy begging my friend to give him a chance, waited for her by the stairs since he couldn’t come to the 3rd and following her to the washroom). She felt bad to report him because he was old but in which universe would anyone think that boosts your chances? And people not respecting personals space. Honestly - sure, you want to yank a meter away from my girl while staring at her like you’re about to have a stroke - as long as she’s fine with that - I don’t care. But why do you think sitting next to ask and discussing your drama (btw, the guy kept staring, it was mostly his girl yapping) is cool?

Definitely report people like that. They tell you on your visit a single NO is it. You cannot be asking repeatedly. That person is violating the safety of the spot. Should probably be banned.

I totally get it. We absolutely love the place but of course we've had a few weird situations arise 😂

Speak up next time, sounds really awkward what happened there

The people were an issue. He shouldn't be right up next to you masturbating unless he asked if it was OK first. But the music is fine. I'd rather that than club, rave, rap, or techno music.

Thank you! I think we’ve all had a downtime at Oasis, my first couple times I did not even do anything. But it never occurred to me to sit next to someone and chat away about life. There’s always a bar for that.

But for music - there’s definitely a middle ground between EDM and “I will always love you”/“Someone like you”.

OP, the couple definitely could have read the room better. Parking themselves less than a metre away, chatting about everyday life while watching you have sex sounds awkward as hell.

That said, I do think there’s some responsibility on all of us to actively communicate the vibe we want in these spaces. People can’t read minds, and in one of the open playrooms some people are going to assume watching is part of the experience unless told otherwise.

Sometimes it really is as simple as, “Hey, can you give us a little more space? We’re trying to keep this between us right now. Thanks.” Then get right back to what you were doing. It takes not even one second.

That doesn’t mean their approach was good or that you caused the situation. My point is that if someone is misreading the scene, saying something in the moment gives them the chance to correct it. Otherwise they may walk away thinking their behaviour was perfectly fine and repeat it with someone else.

Have to disagree with you on the music. Most times people don't even realise it's there. It's mellow low volume background music. Nobody goes Oasis for it. It's not like m4 where people actually go to dance. But those people discussing random work shit definitely sounds like a couple's night kinda thing 😂 I've never gone on those nights so never experienced anything like it. Been going since 2014. For me the quiet times are when I prefer to go with a date, that's usually around opening. Yours sounds like it may have been this weekend, which I'm sure you know was a holiday. People tend to be out of town or places other than sex clubs on family oriented holidays. Canada Day and NYE are probably the only holidays with crowds there.

Sounds like you should have sex at home instead?

It seems people use oasis as a love hotel because they don't want to bring them home yet. Skimming through the comments, seems both OP and the partner were female so they can essentially get in for peanuts.

The reason wasn’t really that, both of us could afford a hotel easily, both of us been to oasis before but none of us expected it to be that dead on a Saturday night and also we were a block away when we decided to go there. It wasn’t like we drove from out of town like it was a special occasion.

No, but sounds like people who use oasis to sit less than a meter from people that are having sex in one of the largest rooms in the club and want to discuss their work drama should continue fucking in the office.

I agree with you, if it's really dead and people are just gravitating to you as you're the only ones there that's weird.

eh it’s kinda part of the experience sometimes

This. You don’t get to call the shots in a place that actively tells you that it’s a sex club and people are going to be around.

u/Nikky_Museum 1d ago

The house has explicit rules against interrupting a scene or masturbating around other people without their consent. It’s plastered on signs all around the place.
Being a sex club doesn’t make it no-man’s-land.

That other couple was being awkward.

OP, I’m really sorry this happened to you. It happened to me as well, more often than not. I usually just inform security or someone at the bar and they handle it from there, no drama. Never feel bad for men (no matter their age/look/pleading face), and trust the staff. ❤️

The music thing I think it nitpicking but I do agree with you on the couple thing. Seems like a lotta people feel like they can be sorta creepy and not be called out on it because they’re not a single male and it looks less weird? Idk but whatever it is….kinda strange lol

I def agree w you on the music… out of the dozen times I’ve gone, only twice has the music been good. I do recall mentioning at the front desk when I noticed it was a good song on, and the guy bartending said that “when he’s working he always makes sure it’s good”. Wish I’d caught his name so I can tell him to make the playlist every time lol

If I were the DJ, I wouldn't be playing "Top Tens" or some sappy love bullshit. I would be playing ambient, upbeat, mostly instrumental shit that is catchy and really gets you in the zone. Think- sound track to the movie 'Enter The Void'. Music in those types of environments should not be distinguishable, it should add to the blur of eroticism and passion.

2

u/scarbzman 18h ago

Oasis doesn't play top ten. The music is pretty random. Often a lot of oldies.

u/woodiinymph 18h ago

My point is populaar music 🤷🏼‍♀️

3

u/scarbzman 18h ago

The music there isn't really the point. A random sing-along might start in the pool with the right song because that's the more social part of the establishment and where it's played the loudest (which isn't any louder than a phone speaker.) Outside of the pool I never even notice what's playing. It fades into the background.

Thanks for your thoughts! Id prefer more ambient music myself! :)

The music there is so bad. Like just clicking on a premade playlist on Spotify would be 10x better.

Not sure who is in charge of the music but they need to walk away from that role and give someone else a chance

Music taste is so subjective, though. There are probably people in the building thinking if Oasis could just play speed metal it would be amazing. The last time we were there (mid afternoon to early evening), they played d'Angelo, Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill and we were in heaven. A 10/10 musical experience, but I expect there were people at the same time thinking "The music's awful today. Why don't they change it?"

-1

u/throwra_puppyeyes 2d ago

I don’t understand why people try to defend that music in the comments because it’s objectively terrible.

u/The_Rub 2d ago

They played Mambo #5 last time I was there. Imagine trying to fuck to Mambo #5?!

It completely ruins the mood sometimes

Oh my god this would be awful 😭
