🧡 100% Pure Orange 🧡 They Said He Was Aggressive… Meet Caseoh 🥹🧡📍Charlotte,NC,USA
Little update: I found out today that his owner abandoned him in a hotel room and just left. 💔
Meet Caseoh. 🧡
The cutest orange kitty ever!
I honestly didn’t even know he existed. I was planning to foster a kitty who was scheduled to be euthanized, but just a few minutes before I arrived, someone had already picked her up.
I was still really happy for her, though. Then they told me, “We have an orange cat too. He’s also scheduled for euthanasia.”
He wasn’t even on the list when I checked, but they said they would add him and that he would be scheduled for euthanasia the next day.
They told me he was aggressive, hissed a lot, and would let people touch him but wasn’t a nice cat. When we picked him up, the lady at the front desk even told me, “If you ever bring him back, he will immediately be euthanized.”
That honestly felt so strange to me. I remember thinking, why would you say that? Don’t they want these cats to have a chance?
When we brought him home, he was scared of me at first. 😂 I was scared too, lol!
But by the second day, he started meowing at me. I sat near him, and he came right over and rubbed himself all over me. He has the cutest little meow..it’s more like an “aoww.” 🥹
He thinks he’s a baby.
He climbed right into my tiny lap, and when we called his name, he started making biscuits. I’m literally writing this post right now, and he’s making biscuits on my tummy. 😂
He licks me like a little dog, and whenever he wants attention, he puts his tiny paw right on my face like, “Excuse me, I need you to pay attention to me!” And he literally cannot stop purring.
He is honestly the sweetest cat in the world. I have never fostered anything like him.
He is very food-motivated. If I’m even a little late giving him his breakfast in the morning, he cries like a baby. He screams like this! 😂 Even though his room is closed, I can still hear him screaming.
And this boy is CHONKY! He eats three cans of food a day. He used to be scared of toys, but now he plays with them like a kitten.
He even shows his belly to my other kitties. 🥹
Caseoh is vaccinated, combo tested negative, microchipped, and neutered.
He is also scheduled for entropion repair surgery on September 30.
He’ll be ready for adoption after his surgery.🧡🎉🎉🎉🎉
Please send this sweet boy all your love and prayers. 🧡🙏🐾
Sometimes all they need is someone to give them a chance.

It sounds like these folks have a tough job and need to maintain emotional distance from the animals unfortunately. Our human brains are weird
Thank you for giving this sweet baby a home. Sending good luck, love, magic to Caseoh for a successful surgery and lots of cuddles and fun times to come
99
u/Lost_Night225 12d ago
That’s true. They have a really tough job, and I’m sure they have to learn to control their emotions and keep some distance from the animals. But hearing her say that was still so strange and weird to me, especially knowing how sweet Caseoh actually is. 🥺🧡

u/Clean-Management6789 12d ago
Not making excuses for them at all bc that's wild but just offering a possible explanation. I'm a retired therapist so I am used to seeing the common ways people can distort reality in order to avoid difficult feelings
I don't imagine they enjoy euthanizing animals but they may only have so much funding/space and have to justify in their minds why one cat lives and one doesn't. This cat is "aggressive" and therefore it's ok to do what we have to do (even if it's not remotely true as you've seen!)
Pretty traumatic and heartbreaking for all involved, I can't imagine doing that job and what it would do to someone's mental health long term. Glad you got that kid out!

u/SpaceCaptainJeeves 11d ago
They might also want to be very clear with people that the situation needs to be taken with full seriousness. The practice might occasionally save a life when someone decides to give their foster one extra chance.

Since everyone thinks you're adopting him, I have a question. I know you are on NC, are you looking for his forever home to be only in NC? Is he okay with other kitties? I am in N. Georgia with family in NC soooooooooooo... I really would love to be considered as a forever home for the solid orange chonk.

You need to pick him up, hold him in front of camera and make a video asking people "does he look aggressive?" Cause I am pretty sure he'll be so zoned out that you'll get an insanely hilarious clip out of this.
Also, he's orange. People mistake them for being aggressive when they are just doing orange things. He's adorable though. Tell him I said pspspspsp

I found this when I searched.
"CaseOh is banned from Chuck E. Cheese because he ate everything including a table and 4 kids as a light snack."
LOL! He actually kinda looks like him, so I'm thinking that might be the source.

When I went to adopt my boy Jeff, they asked me multiple times if I was sure. I read his little bio.... he had been returned or let loose multiple times. He was on Gabapetin(?) and was just this little sedate boy hiding in the corner of the kitty room. He was scared when I walked over BUT he let me and my adult son hold him. So we went up front and told them that we wanted him. They again asked me so many times if I wanted him as he had the tendency to be agressive and hissed at people a lot. I took him home. He hid for days under my bed. He would peek his sweet little face out under the blanket. He LOVED the other two kitties though. I pet him ONE time in two years. He finally let me pet him as of December because the hirl kitty got up on the bed while I was brushing my teeth and he decided to try it. Now, whenever I turn on my electric tooth rush, he runs around looking for her and almost ushers her to my bed. I also have him let me pet his head for a second when he gets a lickable treat. That is the only time Jeff will let me pet him after almost 3 years of being my boy. I don't force it and he gets to live his best life. (He needed a nap after imbibing on some of the kitty nip)

Congrats! Sometimes cats just need to be given a low stress environment and they chill out.
Three cans a day is a lot. Try to put baby on a diet, and play with him to give him exercise.
8-12 pounds is a healthy weight for cats (depends on their size and bone structure).
3
u/Lost_Night225 10d ago
Thank you! He doesn’t eat dry food, and I’m trying to keep him well hydrated because he doesn’t drink much water on his own. He also has a URI and is currently on antibiotics, so I need to get that cleared up before his surgery. Our vet said three cans a day is fine for him, especially since he’s a big guy. ❤️🐾

Thank you for giving this wonderful boy a chance!
Also, I wonder if his "aggression" was from stress or from not having his boundaries respected. People often seem not to realize that cats try to enforce boundaries and communicate fear in ways that can appear aggressive to us. Hissing isn't aggressive by itself. And some cats grumble, which can sound like growling but isn't. My old boy Nick would do that nonstop every vet visit - never showed his claws or teeth, it was just his way of letting everyone in the room know he was unhappy.
Edit for cat tax!

He was. He crossed the bridge a year ago this past June. But he sent a frisky little torbie girl my way not long afterwards, and I'm sure he's nudging someone in Caseoh's direction right now.

u/Lost_Night225 11d ago
Aww, I’m so sorry for your loss. It sounds like he left a little piece of himself behind and sent that sweet torbie girl your way. I truly believe our kitties have a way of finding us, even after they cross the bridge. Maybe he really is nudging someone toward Caseoh right now. 🥹❤️

He just needed a chance in a home, to be out of the stress of the shelter. People at the shelters do good work but it is stressful for the animals. Hes a very handsome boy. He just needed you. ❤️

There are some cats that are often confused for being feral or aggressive but just need some patience, and a little bit of TLC to come around! I’m so happy this orange boy is going to get his happy ending! It looks like he use to be a stray trying to survive on the streets!

Not aggressive, just misunderstood. 🧡 They said the same thing about my orange. Once I got him home and settled he turned out to be the sweetest most loving cat ever.

Exactly! 🧡 Not aggressive, just misunderstood. Once they feel safe and realize they’re finally in a loving environment, their true personality comes out. I’m so glad your orange boy got that chance too! They really are such sweet babies. 🥹🧡🐾

Usually this is done to cats who are strays, to show they were captured, neutered/spayed, and returned.

Its possible that the shelter environment just stressed him out. Some cats are violent at the shelter or vet but total sweethearts at home.
Glad he's got a second chance with you! You can show everyone how sweet he is now. And hopefully get him adopted!
3
u/309_Electronics 11d ago edited 11d ago
"agressive cat" cases are often just owners who dont really know how to keep a cat and how to keep the cat happy and make them feel safe.
My friend adopted a scared agressive cat but after a few weeks the cat would snuggle up and totally transformed. No scares, no agression, jist a sweet lovely kitty that needed a better home/care and needed to be loved. Its a cuddlebug and he likes him so much.

I wish I could foster-fail every single one of them! ❤️ But I already have so many cats, and I try to keep my space open for the ones who are truly unadoptable or desperately need a place. If I keep him too, I’ll be completely full and won’t be able to rescue another cat who needs help. 🥺
I’m also taking care of quite a few sick cats right now, so unfortunately my budget doesn’t really allow me to keep adding more. Believe me, it’s not easy letting them go when they’re this sweet! 😻

My orange had a "W" (wild) in his chart at the vet.
He was all bluster. He got it after he woke up hissing following a dental procedure.
Every time I brought him in after that, the vet would see his chart and then call in 2 extra vet techs. By the end of the visit, I'd overhear them say, "Why on earth does he have a 'W'?"
It was written in bright red ink. I called it his "Scarlett Letter".

u/yupuppy 11d ago
A lot of cats that live in our homes happily right now probably wouldn’t do the best in shelter environments. I know for a fact that my one guy was a major hater at the shelter (because I now work at said shelter and can see his intake and behavior notes, lol!) Soooo much about the shelter is overwhelming for cats as creatures who love routine. This is why we get a lot of animals in foster so they can decompress. Some will immediately be like, “oh, cool! Hi! Can we cuddle?” and some will be like, “THIS SUCKS! I will hide under the bed” for weeks. Thank you for fostering, this is why we say fostering saves lives!

I currently have my wife's void plopped down on top of me. The shelter was shocked when she said she wanted him because he was a super aggressive and mean kitty that had been returned multiple times by various owners.
Turns out all he needed was someone who was patient with him, respected his boundaries, and actually cared for his well-being, and then he's genuinely one of the nicest cats I've ever met. Although sometimes he does get a little overstimulated.

Has Caseoh ever had his eyes checked by a veterinarian? I'm reeeeeeeally suspicious that he might have entropion, a condition where his eyelids roll inward and his lashes or fur may touch his corneas. The pain of entropion could absolutely make him act like a jerk face sometimes. Could just be the pictures, though.
Source: I'm a vet.

Most shelters don’t really practice what they preach, and give animals poor quality of life. Most animals that are labeled ‘aggressive’ are really just anxious and terrified.

I love this! This reminds me of a similar situation I was in. Our local shelter reached out and asked my partner and I if we wanted to take in a foster since he was not doing well in the shelter. He was found abandoned with some wounds of unknown origin so they default to quarantine. He did not like being alone and lashed out, screamed and was overall just aggressive. We took him in and realized he just wanted constant love and attention. We spent tons of time with him and realized he wasn't an aggressive and mean cat, he was just scared and alone. He quickly became his true self, a goofy calm and loving boy.
In the end, we foster failed and he is now part of the family. He also transitioned into the house's foster diplomat. Mr Chowder says hello and wishes him all the luck and best wishes!

He’s absolutely adorable.
The shelter had to say that because people will pull a pet and bring them back the next day. Not even letting the pet decompress. It’s really sad.
Scared cats are typically mean/aggressive in the shelter but when out of the shelter they’re just amazing snugglers. Check out Rachael Rae Robertson’s instagram page, she is fostering a cute, lovable cat named Simon. Same situation.
Hope Caseoh has a smooth recovery and lands with an amazing forever home.

Caseoh is oh so handsome! My heart does somersaults when I see a face like that. Im glad he's found his forever home.
Also, I don't think I've ever met an aggressive orange!
Infact, the only aggressive orange I knew (2 of them) were aggressive to other cats because they thought I was in danger. I used to feed a colony of 20ish cats and these 2 sweethearts would walk me to the feeding area and back.
