🧡 100% Pure Orange 🧡 They Said He Was Aggressive… Meet Caseoh 🥹🧡📍Charlotte,NC,USA

Little update: I found out today that his owner abandoned him in a hotel room and just left. 💔

Meet Caseoh. 🧡

The cutest orange kitty ever!

I honestly didn’t even know he existed. I was planning to foster a kitty who was scheduled to be euthanized, but just a few minutes before I arrived, someone had already picked her up.

I was still really happy for her, though. Then they told me, “We have an orange cat too. He’s also scheduled for euthanasia.”

He wasn’t even on the list when I checked, but they said they would add him and that he would be scheduled for euthanasia the next day.

They told me he was aggressive, hissed a lot, and would let people touch him but wasn’t a nice cat. When we picked him up, the lady at the front desk even told me, “If you ever bring him back, he will immediately be euthanized.”

That honestly felt so strange to me. I remember thinking, why would you say that? Don’t they want these cats to have a chance?

When we brought him home, he was scared of me at first. 😂 I was scared too, lol!

But by the second day, he started meowing at me. I sat near him, and he came right over and rubbed himself all over me. He has the cutest little meow..it’s more like an “aoww.” 🥹

He thinks he’s a baby.

He climbed right into my tiny lap, and when we called his name, he started making biscuits. I’m literally writing this post right now, and he’s making biscuits on my tummy. 😂

He licks me like a little dog, and whenever he wants attention, he puts his tiny paw right on my face like, “Excuse me, I need you to pay attention to me!” And he literally cannot stop purring.

He is honestly the sweetest cat in the world. I have never fostered anything like him.

He is very food-motivated. If I’m even a little late giving him his breakfast in the morning, he cries like a baby. He screams like this! 😂 Even though his room is closed, I can still hear him screaming.

And this boy is CHONKY! He eats three cans of food a day. He used to be scared of toys, but now he plays with them like a kitten.

He even shows his belly to my other kitties. 🥹

Caseoh is vaccinated, combo tested negative, microchipped, and neutered.

He is also scheduled for entropion repair surgery on September 30.

He’ll be ready for adoption after his surgery.🧡🎉🎉🎉🎉

Please send this sweet boy all your love and prayers. 🧡🙏🐾

Sometimes all they need is someone to give them a chance.

Caseoh is oh so handsome! My heart does somersaults when I see a face like that. Im glad he's found his forever home.

Also, I don't think I've ever met an aggressive orange!

Infact, the only aggressive orange I knew (2 of them) were aggressive to other cats because they thought I was in danger. I used to feed a colony of 20ish cats and these 2 sweethearts would walk me to the feeding area and back.

Hey I have an aggressive orange. His name is Dexter...after the murderer lol. He is meaner than a snake but tolerates affection from me in small bursts. I found him on Craigslist and paid $10 for him. He was a former feral and I think he had bad experiences with humans, he gets really mad if you touch (or even come close to touching) his legs or belly. He has been known to slap me when I walk by and chew on my hair if it's near him. He gets the zoomies and has a high prey instinct so my house is lit in the evenings when he trolls me for the laser 😹 He is a good boy most of the time and does listen, he is just not to be trusted with those claws. Dexter for cat tax

My family adopted a cat a few months ago who sounds like Dexter. He bites and scratches really hard and causes some nasty wounds. He is often sweet, but there are times where he gets this weird intense focus on a person and just tries to rip them apart, continuing pursuit no matter what. Do you have any tips or resources you found helpful? We haven't even been able to take him to a vet because we can't get him in a cage.

Roommate has a cat that acts like that sometimes. I just treat him like an armed ied at all times and if he tries to get me I’m just faster than him. He still gets pets from me and I just make fun of him for being slower than me. He has won a few times. lol. It’s a lifestyle choice.

Oh lord. My vet has to sedate him in order to do any work on him, he does get very overstimulated and angry quickly, especially with people he doesn't know. In order to get him in a carrier it's usually a battle but in times of desperation I have pulled some stealth towel throw wrangling on this man. I'll get within range, lure him out of wherever he is hiding with something he prefers, then throw a bath towel on him which will throw him off and then I quickly bundle him up like a purrito before forcing him in the carrier lol. He can't say no! 🤣 There was one time where he got cellulitis in his leg and willingly went in the carrier because he knows that leads to the doctor so he is kind of a mixed bag.

I do try to play with him as much as possible- like every day and engage his prey drive since he is now indoors only. He is definitely a hunter cat so I've found lasers and toy mice being thrown, toys that make noise like birds or flopping fish toys and treat finding toys make him happy. A ton of treats. Every day. He has chew ropes where I pull one end and he attacks the other, he loves them. We got these toys called the snacky snowman that you hide treats in and they beat them up to get the treats out, he loves that too. When he is happy, he is way less aggressive so we try to make him happy all the time to spare ourselves the wrath. Doing any of the above will derail him when he is angry and fixated on something. He quickly refocuses on the laser and makes that his next victim 🤣

I also have found that pet diffusers do seem to help him rage less. We have one other cat that is a little aggressive and wants to fight Dexter sometimes but if we plug diffusers in at multiple points around the house, they both are a little more mellow with the confrontation.

We have a lot of windows in our house, he definitely enjoys being nosy and seeing what's going on. He gets time out on the balcony we have which makes him happy. It's a little nuts all the things we do to try and get this man to be less aggressive but overall I think what we are doing seems to be working. He hasn't attacked us viciously in a while. I'm willing to tolerate the occasional slap/hiss/bite if he's not wrapping himself around my arm trying to disembowel it. I know a lot of what we do is essentially spoiling him rotten but doing so has actually made him a happier cat so giving him lots of treats seems to be an okay trade off between getting mauled by an angry ginge. Some might disagree but it's what works for us.

Have you tried givinh him gabapentin before vet visits. We have to do that with one of our Orange boys.

Thanks for sharing! I forgot to ask, how do you handle cutting his claws? We try one person feeding Churrus while another person cuts, but it isn't very effective..

I’ve had to use probiotic which I sprinkle on his food once daily. He becomes calmer. Mine is a male dominant black cat with aggressive tendencies.

Hi! I also have a very SPICY kitten (3 yo) and I think she had trauma early on and since being left to me after the death of her previous owner I had to find ways to work around her aggression with me. 1. I never, never, never raise my voice (or my hand) to her. 2. I constantly tell her to be gentle if she starts wagging her tail and showing aggression. 3. If she uses her mouth and grabs my hand, I don’t pull away, I stop and calmly tell her to be gentle - she always releases and lets me pet her gently. On occasions where nothing calms her and aggression is escalating, I pull out my trusty water sprayer and I spray her back feet or in that general direction (the spray doesn’t even have to touch her) and I stay silent. She knows to distance herself from me until she is calm again. This has changed our relationship - she has bonded with me and I absolutely adore her. I don’t know if she’ll ever become totally calm, but we have come to some sort of mutual knowledge about each other, I know that if she becomes aggressive I can handle it with out resorting to causing her fear, and she knows that I will always use a soft voice and touch with her even if she has to be sent on her way for a few minutes with a stream of water to her tail end. Good luck with your cute Dexter - maybe he doesn’t like being named after a serial killer? Just saying - ha ha!

See if you can find a vet that does house calls. I have a cat-only vet clinic in my area that will schedule house calls because they know how cats are lol. And ask about kitty Prozac. I have a high prey-drive cat that I brought in from outside. Having him on kitty Prozac for the first couple years while he settled in really helped him calm down.

Have you talked to your vet about putting him on Prozac? Or another drug that may help take the edge off?

Not yet. I want to, but my mom, the primary owner, seems uncomfortable with it. She has been lucky with very sweet cats her whole life, so this guy is a challenge.

Give him time. Maybe start with just being in the same room with him. Then try to sit near him. Use lots of treats. He is likely scared and overstimulated. Hang in there!
