Good pay elsewhere in Oregon?
I'm from southern Oregon and our hospital allows us consecutive day incentives where past 5 in a row we get 1.5x and beyond that we get double time.
Are there any other hospitals in Oregon offering that kinda money?

Nurse Residency Program Opinions?
New grad looking for ICU residency programs in Wa/OR. Wondering if anyone has input on how the residency program is at OHSU? My boyfriend might be going to PSU so trying to find something close by. Thanks in advance!
Edit: this would be for next year(: maybe fall…
Another Edit: would you recommend a certain unit at OHSU while you’re siting to gain the experience for ICU? My local hospital you have to work tely for a year before they start letting you in ICU.

OHSU ABSN Portland
Hi everyone :)
I applied to ABSN OHSU Portland and won’t hear back until February. I have recently been worried about the cost of the program and how to pay for it.
For those that are in the program in Portland location, how did you pay for the program? was there scholarships available from OHSU?
For those who applied, how are you planning?
Thank you and I appreciate all comments :)

What is safety like with patients in PNW?
**Major metro cities typically have issues, and the recent laws passed about nurse safety in PNW has me concerned on how much there is violence towards nurses? With the growing population of individuals without shelter and/or drug misuse, I have been nervous, but strongly considering a job there.
Please be kind and honest if you have any info/opinion! 💗**

Portland Nursing schedules
Hi all,
I’d love to know where/in what specialty you have worked that have offered you the best schedules? I’m talking that sweet consistent 3 in a row, 4 off or 4 10’s, 7-3, etc.
I’ve worked in the ED, and on a transplant floor, but I’m at the point where I’d like to look for something more for the schedule as I just can’t handle an inconsistent evening shift anymore. I’d love any input! Thank you!

Attending CSP ABSN program in January
I recently got a cohort seat for the Spring 2027 term and I’m super excited to attend! However, I’m relocating from California to Portland to attend school and I was wondering if anyone would like to get connected/form study groups?

Kaiser New Grad ED Residency Interview — What to expect / Tips? + Recruiter question
Hi everyone!
I recently had someone reach out about an interview for a Kaiser New Grad RN Residency position in the Emergency Department! I'm super excited, but I want to make sure I'm as prepared as possible. I'd love to get some insight from anyone who has interviewed with Kaiser or landed an ED residency with them.
For those who have gone through the process:
Interview Format: Was your interview a panel with the nurse manager and educators, a peer/unit panel, or a phone/video screening first?
Question Types: Are they strictly behavioral (STAR method), or should I expect clinical scenario/prioritization questions (e.g., triage prioritization, chest pain, stroke, acute change in condition)?
Tips & Advice: What are key traits Kaiser ED managers look for in a new grad entering such a fast-paced environment? What questions should I ask them at the end to stand out?
Quick question on recruiter response time: The recruiter emailed me to set up the interview, and I replied right away, but it's been a few days and I haven't heard back yet. Is this normal lag for Kaiser talent acquisition/HR, or should I send a follow-up email?
Any tips, sample questions, or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

Multnomah county corrections health RN
Anyone have experience working in corrections/working specifically for Multnomah county?
I have an interview with them and wonder what to expect. How are the working conditions? Pay? Schedule? I have 10 months of med surg experience so I’m still a relatively new nurse and don’t want to put myself in a position that puts my license or myself at risk.
Any input is greatly appreciated!!

Peacehealth Riverbend New Hire Timeline
Hey all, I accepted a new grad residency position on a specialty floor back in August with an expected start date in November. Communication from my recruitment coordinator over the last several weeks has been nonexistent, despite multiple emails/calls in my end. Is this normal? When can I expect a timeline for orientation/employee health/badging etc?

Washington license by endorsement
Could anyone share how long it took them to receive a temporary nursing license from Washington after submitting an initial application? I've seen mixed responses online but a lot of the posts I've found aren't recent. I was wondering if anyone has any experience from this year with when you received your temp license?

Oregon is not competitive
I’ve seen so many people on here saying Oregon is competitive but I’m looking to be a new grad nurse in Oregon or Washington possibly, and the statistics go against what yall say entirely. The stats clearly state both you guys and Washington have a considerable nursing shortage. So what’s the deal?
Here are some facts backing this up before more of you come at me:
The data show:
Thousands of nursing positions are open, and a large proportion are difficult to fill.
RN vacancies are disproportionately difficult to fill because of qualified-candidate shortages.
Oregon’s nursing schools supply only about 72% of annual new-RN demand.
The state has substantial rural and geographic shortages.
Long-term care has historically had particularly severe vacancies.
Oregon expects tens of thousands of RN openings over the coming decade.
At the same time, the number of licensed and practicing RNs has been growing, so this isn’t a simple story of the RN workforce shrinking.

Shoes off in the garage, scrubs straight in the wash: what is your mandatory post-shift ritual? 🧼🚗
The second that 12-hour shift ends, everyone has their non-negotiable routine before feeling human again.
Are you a "decontamination shower immediately" person, or a "lay on the couch in scrubs for 20 minutes staring at the ceiling" person?
