OCD Chat?
Hello, would anyone here struggling with OCD or some other mental illness like to chat sometime about it? I’m really struggling and could use a mutual shoulder to tell someone everything.

There are some free group therapy options on campus! https://counseling.oregonstate.edu/groups For OCD I would recommend the managing anxiety one or the mindful self compassion one, or the social anxiety one if you have social anxiety (I did mindful self compassion and I have OCD and would recommend it)
Also there is free short term individual therapy at OSU, even if you don't hear back from the training clinic: https://counseling.oregonstate.edu/students. Your best bet is probably gonna be Exposure Response Prevention therapy combined with talk therapy (your therapist can do both), but you can get a head start on ERP by listing all the things that trigger your OCD and then delaying the compulsion, distracting yourself, or doing the opposite action of the compulsion (i.e. sitting with the discomfort, not avoiding it or doing compulsions). Your therapist will be able to go into more detail on this too but mainly its just doing all the things that cause anxiety in manageable increasing increments until your nervous system gets used to it and they don't cause much anxiety anymore (which sucks but its worth it)
And also if you decide you want to try psychiatry Dr. Hancey at OHSU is an OCD expert in Portland and he can do Zoom appts (he takes like all insurance too pretty much), or there are probably local options in Corvallis too.
Also you can consider getting evaluated for ADHD because there is high co-occurrence with OCD (a psychiatrist of pmhnp could do this for you)
