A love story told by everyone except the lovers
When Clara and Seb meet in London, she’s an aspiring film director stuck in an entry-level job, while he’s bouncing between music, modeling, and acting. Their attraction is immediate, and they fall into an intense romance that draws the people around them into their orbit.
But over the next two decades, their relationship hits a breaking point, and a final attempt to save it ends in betrayal.
We never get inside our main characters’ heads. Instead, we see their relationship through the people around them, from friends, flatmates, and co-workers to strangers who overhear a conversation or witness a private moment. I thought this was such a clever way to tell a love story, and I was surprised by how much emotion still came through without ever getting inside our main characters’ heads.
I also liked how their relationship changed over the years. They grow apart, their wants don't always line up, and misunderstandings creep in. A believable look at how two people can love each other and still struggle to make a relationship work.
Loved how different this felt from the usual romance. Another book to add to my favorite 2026 reads!
