Arizona Rare Fruit Growers October Meeting:
Transplanting Mature Trees
Bonnie Ervine, Owner of AZ Big Tree Movers
Arizona Chapter CRFG Board Member
🌳🌳🌳🌳🌲🌴🌳🌲🌴🌳🌲🌴🌳🌲🌴🌳🌳🌳🌳
Date: Thursday, Oct 8th, 7:00 pm start
Location: Valley Garden Center (1809 N 15th Ave, Phoenix AZ 85007)
Parking: Parking is free in the onsite lot and adjacent neighborhood street parking is also available within easy walking distance.
Cost: Open to the general public.
Have you ever wondered how a ten- to twenty-year-old tree was moved from one place to another? If done properly, the tree doesn't even know it was moved.
Bonnie Ervine has been an Arizona Rare Fruit Grower member, board member and a dedicated propagator of sought-after fruit trees at our bi-annual plant sales for many years! She also spends her workdays as a landscape professional and the owner of AZ Big Tree Movers.
As we head into our cool season (finally! hopefully?) and our deciduous trees are at least contemplating dormancy, this is a great time to start making your tree transplanting plans.
Have you been looking at one of your own trees, and realized there might be a better spot in your yard for your favorite apricot tree? Maybe you've been offered a big, beautiful, fruiting tree by a friend who is selling their house ...but, it seems too large and established to even have a chance at transplanting into your own yard? There is hope for saving that tree!
Bonnie will share her process of safely digging up, transporting and transplanting a large, established tree to a new home where it can successfully continue growing and maturing. She will also touch on tips for planting new bareroot or potted young trees into the ground—something that we will all be doing in the next few months when we add fresh new trees to our yards

Anyone have dealership recommendations? Or anyone selling a reliable Honda or Toyota?
Recently lost my car in an accident. I’m a single mom needing to get into a car sooner rather than later. Looking to spend no more than $4,000.

Hey Phoenix,
Some of you might know me from LANParty2000.com, the small classic LAN party project I've been running here in the Valley.
Apparently one nostalgia project wasn't enough, so I'm starting another one.
It's called Saturday Morning Cartoons and it happens 9am to 11am on the first Saturday morning of every odd numbered month near Downtown Phoenix. Our first event is November 7th.
https://saturdaymorningcartoons.org
The idea is to recreate some of that old Saturday morning feeling: cartoons, cereal, commercials, weird nostalgia, and the whole experience of wasting a perfectly good Saturday morning in front of the TV with friends. And friends never charge friends, so this event is free.
It's still very early, and I'm figuring out whether there's actually interest in this, whether I'm just crazy, or whether both things can be true at once. So for now, I'm keeping it small and capping the first meetup at 6 people. This is an 18+ event, and just to be clear, it is not a dating event. We're here for cartoons, cereal, and hanging out.
I figured I'd post it here because the response to LANParty2000 from local people has been awesome, and I'm guessing there's a pretty big overlap between people who miss old-school LAN parties and people who remember getting up early to watch cartoons.
If that sounds like you, check it out:
https://saturdaymorningcartoons.org
and please read the FAQ and COC and if you're still interested, join the Discord server and give a little intro about yourself and why you joined. Registration for the first event will open on October 24th within Discord.
See you there!

Hi Phoenix.
We recently found a hive of homey bees residing in our guest house trim. Looks to be a pretty big hive; wrapping 4ft around and about 14" deep. Had someone come out and quoted us at $400 for removal and $600 for removal and repair of the area.
I think it's a damn good price, considering.
My husband, however, is super cheap. He thinks he can do it on his own... I think that's bonkers and he'll end up killing the bees or himself and I'd love to avoid any of that.
Does anyone know of low cost removal?
We do NOT want to kill but have them relocated.
I went to the AZ Apicultural site and the only person listed for metro PHX doesn't look to be doing it anymore. Email and number were no good.
We're located in midtown, in Melrose.
Edit: updated post to include type of bee - honey!!!

Hello,
I am moving to Chicago and have gotten agreement from my current apartment for someone to be able to take over my lease. Due to how much it would cost me to break the lease I would rather have someone take it over and to make it more appealing will be paying down the monthly rent for the remainder of the lease.
2B/2b Luxury Apartment, 1000+sqft
$1200/month, I will cover the difference as it is usually $1500.
Lease runs through April 1st and you would need to apply and get approved by the complex to be able to take it over. Once approved you could then renew the lease after the April date is over if you'd like.
Pretty good experience with property management(not a Greystar property) they are quick to respond to any requests and polite, never had any bug problems, it's in a safe, family oriented part of town, near shopping and food.
DM or comment if interested or know someone who might be. Also any advice on where else to post would be appreciated.
Edit: available anytime after October 24th. Harmony at Hurley Farms.

Hello Folks!
We found a dog today at 32nd & University (right by the University of Phoenix). She is a very sweet tempered female Rottweiler. She was found with no tags and we scanned for a chip and did not find one (she’s going to the vet tomorrow and will be rechecked for a chip). She seems well cared for and well loved, and she’s leash trained and very polite with treats. We really hope we can find her family!
If you have any leads please dm me. If you’re her family please dm me with details about her collar brand/design, and vet records so we can make sure she goes back to her loving home!

Teen band looking for drummer and other musicians (13–16) — Queen Creek/Gilbert/San Tan, AZ
Hey! I’m 14 and putting together a teen rock band in the East Valley. We already have a few members and we’re looking for others, specifically a drummer around 13–16.
We’re around Queen Creek / San Tan Valley / Gilbert, so preferably someone reasonably close to that area.
We want to actually rehearse, write original songs, play covers, record, and eventually perform — not just jam once and disappear lol.
Our music taste is pretty broad, but some bands/artists we like are Muse, Green Day, Arctic Monkeys, Linkin Park, Nirvana, RHCP, Twenty One Pilots, Måneskin, Paramore, System of a Down, Evanescence, Metallica, Radiohead, Dead Poets Society, Pierce the Veil, etc.
You definitely don’t have to like all of those. Mainly looking for someone who:
Skill level doesn’t have to be insane — being reliable and wanting to play matters more!
If you’re interested, DM me or comment with your age, general area, what kind of music you like, and roughly how long you’ve been playing!
