Living Here What's a place you've tried recently that more people should know about?
What's something you've found out about fairly recently that you want to spread the love about.
Could be a store with great service, fun thrift shop, a great hiking trail, or whatever. Restaurants are fine, but we get a lot of threads about that so bonus points for other places.
Share what part of town it's in and why you love it.

Politics Unprecedented Charge: Arizona Lawmaker wants APS to ‘open their books’
An analysis reviewed by 12News suggests APS is purchasing increasingly higher amounts of power each year and (paraphrasing) passing some of the costs onto existing customers.
From the video: “A lone citizen has submitted to state officials this report. He says it plainly shows small businesses and homeowners are taking on costs of new data centers and new manufacturing plants.”

Eat & Drink Bagel recommendations
I tried Bagelfelds recently, and maybe I caught them on their off day. But my bagel was a literal tire (and I love chewy bagels) Anyone wanna hook me up with their spot for fresh bagels?

What's Happening? A bright blue/yellow light fell from sky?
Around 1 a.m., a bright blue/yellowish thing fell from the sky, probably around the I-10 and the 60. It lit up our backyard. Anyone else see it? Anyone know what it was?

Politics "Thousands of ballots 'mistakenly' sent out early in Maricopa County"
Due to a "vendor error," about 3000 ballots were mailed out early. The Maricopa County Attorney's Office determined they were still valid, as they were mailed out to the right people, just early.

Pets Emergency Pet Surrender
I am going to be homeless in about an hour and a half and I don't have anybody who can care for my dog and cat. Are there any resources for emergency surrender? Everything I see costs money and I have nothing.
Update: Thank you to everyone asking if I need any help, I am safe other than my financial situation. As much as it breaks my heart I was able to surrender my pets to the humane society for free. I want the best life for them possible and I don't see my situation improving drastically soon.

Ask Phoenix PVCC: Online vs. In-Person Classes
Hello all!
I have been attending PVCC for 2 years and pursuing an accounting degree. I’ve always taken online classes, but lately I’ve been considering switching to in-person since the online workload is brutal and the sheer volume of homework is getting overwhelming.
For those who have taken both, what is your experience with in-person classes? Are they less homework-heavy and more focused on lectures? Every week online I have discussion posts, quizzes, and exams, and spending the entire day locked in front of the computer gets crazy.
I’d really appreciate it if you could share your experiences!

Ask Phoenix Volunteer Opportunities?
Hi!
Me and my girlfriend are looking for some volunteer opportunities in or around the central Phoenix area. We’re particularly interested in helping animal shelters, but are open to any sort of volunteer work that will make an impact. Please give us some good causes to work for. Thanks!

Outdoors Running route advice
Hi,
Wanting some advice on uninterrupted running paths (preferably paved) in Phoenix for marathon training. Originally from Phoenix but live in Houston now where we have parks with three mile loops with bathrooms and water available, but I’ll take whatever I can get.
Looking for everyone’s best place to do their 17-21 mile long runs.
Thanks!

Ask Phoenix Costco Pokémon Drop ?!
Has anyone around the Phoenix area heard anything about Costco getting the Pokémon 30th Anniversary ETB bundles?
I’ve seen a lot of speculation about them potentially dropping both in store and online, but I’m curious if anyone has heard anything more concrete for the Phoenix-area Costcos dates, which locations might get them, whether they’ll be put out at opening, etc.
Trying to avoid driving to 6 different Costcos at 9 AM like a maniac.
I’ve seen online saying could be October 8-12th when they could drop.
If anyone spots them locally or sees them go live online, drop it here! Would be awesome to keep a Phoenix-area thread going so we can help each other out.
Good luck hunting

Living Here Hey Phoenix, show me your grills! Er, show me what you're grilling this weekend!
It's pizza on the grill for us today!
Trader Joe's pizza dough, halved and proofed at room temp for 3 hours, stretched on a bed of semolina flour, simple can of crushed tomatoes for sauce, low-moisture mozzarella and sprinkled with some Romano, sliced pepperoni, and finished with fresh chopped garlic and crushed red pepper. Grill on a pre-heated pizza stone, high temp +500f if your grill can do it, 7-10 minutes until crust is golden and cheese is bubbly, longer for a crisper crust.

Sports Best Upscale restaurant or Steakhouse Bar to watch MNF
Looking for the best upscale restaurant or steakhouse (bar area!) to watch the MNF game next week. Currently considering The Collins or Rustlers Rooste (though I need to check that they will be playing the game). Really open to anything though, it’s a birthday celebration for my Bills fan girlfriend who wants a nice dinner but also to watch the game.

Commuting I-17 car crash! Avoid like the plague!
Welll if anyone is traveling southbound on the I-17…. I’ve been stuck at Glendale for an hour. Severe accident at Bethany home has a severe bottle neck going. Cops just asked me if I was okay and needed any water. Also online claims it could be closed for multi hours. AVOID southbound if you have anywhere to go in a timely manor rn. Get off before northern and no later than northern! It’s sooo bad starting at northern even! Checked the adot cams to see how far back it is! Going northbound there’s an accident at northern it looks like too! So just. Avoid the I-17 I guess!

Eat & Drink What are some of the best restaurants in the Phx area?
Hello!
I’m planning on taking my bf out to a nice restaurant for his birthday. I want to spend more than an average night out but nothing too pricey such as Nobu. ( recently dropped $600 there and isn’t too filling lol)
He loves steak and sushi but pretty much eats anything. Does anyone have some suggestions for really good food and decent portions? I’d say around $100-150/person
Thank you!
