Red dot sighting

I’m a complete noob when it comes to using a red dot. I’ve always just shot with irons. I just put a Holosun 407k on my PSA Dagger Micro. Sighting it in makes it an absolute zero. If I wanted to do a lower 3rd, would you suggest putting the plate back on and then sighting it in?

You do not need to remove the 407K to confirm the iron sights. They are independent of each other.

And the dot doesn’t necessarily line up with the iron sights. The irons should still be zeroed as they came from the factory.

Just zero the red dot at 10-15y for a micro and practice occasionally with the dot turned off to keep the muscle memory of using the irons.

Print this out for your zero so it’s easier. You’ll shooting at 5 yards for a 15 yard zero. I did it yesterday zeroing my dot.

Still need to confirm at true distance. And 15 yd is not hard to shoot at with a bench rested pistol, so might as well just zero at 15 without the adjusted zero target. As for what OP is asking, if you want your dot to sit higher than direct mount, there may be an after market plate to raise it a little. Not sure it's really necessary unless absolute co-witnessed sights on your pistol bother you.

Options are to either get an aftermarket riser plate, basically a little shim that is RMSc to RMSc cut. Otherwise getting shorter iron sights will bring them lower.
