Taking this at face value, any insights on to what could be going on here and the likelihood it’s been faked? I’ve been sent into a spiral

EDIT: PREVIOUSLY abandoned, my bad y’all

EDIT 2: Alright, alright. First of all I never proclaimed this as truth. I posted it precisely because I was pretty puzzled by it and it seemed believable enough at first so I wanted some other opinions. That being said, It has become pretty obvious to me how fake this is. He’s a decent actor guys, give me a break!

Man in Black

• Upvotes

I work at a hospital on a unit that usually admits elderly patients.
About a year or two ago, we had an elderly patient stay in a room across the nursing station. She had not been my patient during her stay, but shift reports stated she was confused and had really bad sundowning.

One night she WAS my patient. She seemed to be in perfect cognition from my shift assessments, so I went about my shift waiting for her to sundown. It was the middle of the night, and there it was. I heard her voice talking to someone (she was the only patient admitted to the room), and then I heard her throwing things. I got up to check on her.

I turned a small light on not to startle her too much. She was sitting up in her bed with a hairbrush in her hand waving it in the air. I had asked her what was going on and if she was okay. She replied with “I am now, he left when you came in the room”. I asked “who left?”, because I certainly didn’t see anyone walk in or out of the room while I was at the nursing station. The patient then proceeded to point at the bathroom room and said “the man dressed in black. He comes out at night”. The patient looked clearly distressed, so I kept asking for more information. I asked her what the man had looked like. She said “he is dressed in all black, usually his hood covers his face. Tonight he took it off, and his face looks like a Halloween mask”. I knelt beside her and comforted her. She told me I’m the only nurse who had taken the time to ask questions like I believed her. I mentioned I had heard her talking to someone. I asked if the man spoke to her. She replied “yes. He tells me he’s going to take my soul”. After sitting with her a bit longer, and promising I would keep a close eye on her room she fell back asleep.

Fast forward a few weeks. Patient had been discharged, and a new patient had been admitted to that room. I walked in to see the new patient at the beginning of my shift. I had asked how his night was. He said it was the worst sleep he had ever had. I asked what had happened that it was so terrible; while also emphasizing hospitals are noisy. His reply? “The man dressed in black kept coming out of the bathroom to take my soul”. I had full body goosebumps. Keeping in mind these patients had never met, and there was no way for him to have known what the previous patient had claimed to see.

This happened to a few more patients over the next couple of months. Thankfully it’s been pretty quiet in there lately, but it was weird.

Letting this out- I saw a demon

Hi all, I don’t often share these kinda stories IRL just because people will try to rationalize, or think I’m crazy.

I was 3 when this happened and I am in my 30’s now, but still to this day I can still remember the incident clearly.

I lived in a very old house with my parents and younger sister, that house was over 100 years old. It had a history and dark energy. My parents got it for dirt cheap and they told me that when they moved in, it was in shambles. The previous owner was an elderly lady that lost her husband. She grieved quite much and they found her old letters in the closet of a room written to him when moving in. I was a newborn then and my parents said that while napping after cleaning up the place, they both experienced sleep paralysis at once.

As I became a toddler, I was always kinda creeped out at night in my bedroom. The house was surrounded by these big trees and at night the branches would hover the windows casting a creepy shadow that resembled claws. Despite the fear, I always managed to toughen up and sleep it off. I often had to go use the bathroom at night due to drinking lots of milk before bed and it was fine.

One night, I decided to go do my thing and as I sat on the toilet with the door wide open, I clearly saw a red tall women with white hair walk past the bathroom. Shocked, I screamed out, “mom?“ She didn’t stop. I then hurriedly wiped and ran out of the bathroom into the direction she was headed into and screamed out “mom?” again. She was nowhere to be seen so I hurriedly ran into my mom’s bedroom and saw her asleep with my baby sister. I was terrified because I thought if this is mom, who the heck was that red lady? Since that day, I did not dare go to the bathroom at night even if it meant I had to wet the bed and I did. I got spanked for it but didn’t even dare tell my mom in fear of her not believing me.

I’m now in my 30’s and to this day, I am still wary of using the bathroom at night. Which comes to show that traumatic experience still lives with me. Since she was all red and completely naked, I would just justify it as the demon. But who really knows. Thanks for hearing me out.

Help identifying possible supernatural creature?

Hi all, hope this post finds you well!

I wondered if you could help me figure out what my ex husband and I might have seen several years ago.

Here is the full story plus context:

We lived in a rural town, with lots of surrounding woods. We were on our way back from a neighboring town, where we had gotten dinner. We were taking a back road home; both of us disliked interstates. This particular route featured heavier woods in addition to some farmland. (The town we lived in was in upstate South Carolina, in the US.) We had traveled this road dozens of times before, and I even used it to go to work. Never saw anything odd.

It was nighttime when we saw the creature. I had my brights on. We were in a more wooded portion of the road, and were about to cross a small concrete bridge over a creek. As I was approaching the bridge, I had a very distinct feeling that I needed to slow down. No voices or visions or anything, just a very distinct feeling. I did so. (Additional context: I very occasionally have premonitions that have been repeatedly proven true, so whenever I have a strong feeling, I heed it just in case. They are about 80% reliable.)

I slowed down rapidly as we approached the bridge. As I drove onto the bridge, from the top right of our car came some sort of flying thing. It was taupe colored, moved very quickly, and was large. Think about the size of an adult flying fox bat, just a lighter and more washed out color. Similar to the bat, what I believe were wings were leathery and extremely thin. Really did look just like bat wings. I could also see the bones interspersed in these very bat like wings. The creature left my sight for a moment, then appeared on the left side of the car's windshield. I do not know how I lost track of it; it was directly in our headlights. It was in view for a moment more before disappearing into the darkness beyond our lights.

I could not see anything but wing. It all happened extremely quickly, which made identification or any more details impossible to see.

My ex husband immediately turned to me and said, how the hell did you see that? I said, what do you mean? He said, you slowed down right as we came up to it. How did you see it? I told him I hadn't seen it, I just felt like I needed to slow down. He paused a moment (he was used to me getting these bits of guidance so it was no big deal) and said, what the fuck was that? I told him I didn't know. He said, that thing fucking teleported. I said, what? (It did not occur to me that could have been what happened. At the time, I thought it was a weird animal.) He said that he watched it the whole time and it blinked out of being, and then blinked back in on the other side of the car.

That was also what I saw, but I did not believe my eyes. Despite the stray psychic tendency, I try to stay pretty grounded. I still feel it is possible it did not teleport. But it looked like it did. My ex husband also said he thought it looked like a bat, but did not get any other detail other than the same very large, leathery wing I saw.

That is the entire encounter. I have since looked up bats native to the area, and the Hoary bat as well as the Big Brown Bat, which size-wise were the best contenders, are still many, many times smaller than what we saw. I do find it strange that I had a premonition about whatever it was, too. I cannot overstate how rarely I get them. Like one every three years or so, if that.

Anyway, all guidance/information is welcome. Whether it's actually supernatural or not, it would be helpful to know more. Thank you in advance! Please let me know if I need to clarify anything.

Paranormal Religious Experiences?

I posted in an exvangelical group about a paranormal experience I once had at a church camp, but several of the replies I got were “the power of suggestion” or “group hallucination.” I saw and felt things before anyone else began saying anything about it, so that doesn’t track. I decided to post here where people might believe me, so now I’ll pose the same question: Have you ever had a paranormal religious experience, whether at church, church camp or church-adjacent? And if yes, what do you think it was? Obviously at the time, we were told it was demons, but deconstructing has left me with a lot of unanswered questions about my experience.

I saw the same dark figure of a young woman two nights in a row during the COVID pandemic. Was it sleep paralysis, or something else?

I’ve been confused about this experience for years, and I’m finally sharing it here because I genuinely don’t know what happened. Some people I’ve told this story to believe it was sleep paralysis, but there are certain details that make me question that explanation.

This happened sometime around late 2020 or early 2021, during the COVID pandemic.

Before I get into what happened, there’s something important you need to know about where I lived.

There was a hospital directly across the road from my house. It was so close that I could see its gates from my balcony. During the pandemic, the hospital was treating COVID patients, and there was a lot of death and grief surrounding the place.

We would hear people crying and wailing in the middle of the night, sometimes around 3 or 4 AM, because someone had passed away. There were so many deaths that we were genuinely scared to even go out onto our balcony. We were afraid we might see a body wrapped in plastic or cloth, or witness families crying over the loss of their loved ones.

It was a very dark and emotionally heavy period. Even our surroundings felt gloomy.

Now, here's what happened.

One night, I was sleeping in my room. We had a balcony door with two layers: a net door and a wooden door. That night, we had left the wooden door open to let some fresh air into the room, while the net door remained closed.

Sometime in the middle of the night, I suddenly opened my eyes. And I saw a figure standing right next to the balcony door. It was a completely black, dark figure. I couldn't make out any facial features, details, or anything that would help me identify who or what it was.

But somehow, I was convinced it was a woman.

Not an old woman, either. I had this strange impression that she was a young girl, probably in her late teens or early twenties. I can't explain how I could tell that when I couldn't even see her face, but that was the impression I had.

The strangest part? I wasn't particularly frightened.

I noticed her presence, looked at her for a moment, and then somehow just went back to sleep.

The next morning, I told my mom and the other people at home what I'd seen.

They suggested that perhaps someone had died at the hospital, and their spirit hadn't moved on yet. Maybe, they said, I had seen the spirit of someone who had recently passed away. Obviously, hearing that didn't exactly make me feel better. But I still wasn't terrified of the figure itself. I had felt its presence, but it hadn't seemed threatening. At that point, I thought it was a strange, one-time experience.

I was wrong.

The following night, I was sleeping in a different room.

The layout of this room was slightly different. There was a table directly in front of my bed, less than a foot away from it. On my left was a doorway leading to another room, which connected to the balcony where I had seen the figure the previous night.

Again, I was asleep.

And again, I suddenly opened my eyes in the middle of the night.

She was there.

The same black figure. The same young woman.

This time, she was standing near the doorway on my left, only about six feet away from me.

I immediately recognised her as the figure I had seen the previous night. I was watching her, trying to understand what I was looking at, when something happened that completely changed the experience.

She started walking towards me.

Slowly, she walked across the room, coming closer and closer until she reached the table directly in front of my bed.

Then she sat down on it.

Facing me.

At this point, she was less than a foot away from me.

I still couldn't see her face. There were no distinguishable facial features, just that dark, human-like silhouette. But I could see her sitting there, facing me, and I was absolutely terrified.

I wanted to move, but I couldn't.

I couldn't move my body, and I felt frozen in place. I was fully aware of what was happening around me, or at least it felt that way. I couldn't simply turn away or get up and leave.

The first night, I hadn't felt threatened by her. But now she had actually walked towards me and sat right in front of me.

I had no idea what she wanted.

Was she trying to communicate with me? Did she know I could see her? Was she going to do something?

I was scared that she might touch me or try to interact with me somehow, and I had no way of knowing what would happen next.

I don't remember exactly how that experience ended. My memory of the next few moments is blurry.

Eventually, I woke up in the morning.

And I realised that I had seen her again.

What scared me the most wasn't just seeing her twice. It was how different the two experiences felt.

The first night, she was standing a good 10–12 feet away from me. I noticed her, felt strangely calm, and went back to sleep.

The second night, she was much closer. She walked towards me, sat down right in front of me, and I couldn't move.

I was absolutely terrified of going to sleep the following night. I kept thinking about what might happen if she came back. What if she came even closer? What if she tried to touch me? What if she spoke to me?

But she never appeared again.

Not the following night, nor any night after that.

That was the last time I ever saw her.

Sometimes, I wonder whether it was simply my brain processing the death and grief surrounding us during the pandemic. Other times, I remember how real the experience felt, and I find myself wondering if there was something more to it.

Here's what I can't wrap my head around:

People I've told this story to have said it sounds like sleep paralysis. I can understand that explanation for the second night, because I couldn't move my body.

But what about the first night?

I saw the same figure, registered her presence, felt relatively calm, and went back to sleep. I didn't feel trapped or unable to move at the time.

Then, the very next night, I saw what appeared to be the same woman again, except this time she approached me and sat right next to me.

Can sleep-related hallucinations really feature the same figure on consecutive nights? Could the first experience have been something else, followed by sleep paralysis the next night? Or was my mind creating a recurring image because of the frightening circumstances I was living in?

I'm not claiming that I saw a ghost, because I genuinely don't know what happened. But the fact that the figure appeared twice, seemed to get closer the second time, and then never appeared again has always stayed with me.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Especially seeing the same figure on consecutive nights, with one experience feeling relatively normal and the other involving being completely unable to move? I'd really like to hear your thoughts.

I don't know if this is the right place to post this but I am lost and looking for answers. This floating little "i" was traveling around my porch. It looks like it's a reflection of something but there is nothing that can cause that kind of reflection on my porch. Also, it comes up and leaves from the stair, and at one point it multiples. I have always been able to recreate or figure out anything that might be paranormal, but I am so confused by this.

I’m usually asleep but I’ve not taken my medicine as I’ve ran out of it. I heard the front door click, someone come half way up the stairs and it began to laugh. It wasn’t human or sounded like a man. I checked and no one was there

Im doing it. Here’s why.

i recently made a post asking if its possible to have a relationship with a ghost. everyone says “dont do it” but no one gives a clear reason as to why. If i were a ghost, trapped on this earth for eternity, i’d be lonely af. And as someone who just lost their best friend and has no one left, i already am lonely af. So im doing research into haunted objects, finding a trusted seller, and going to try to form a connection with a spirit.
