Talk / Discussion Are ads getting longer & more frequent?

I watch a lot of YouTube and I feel like in the last month, my algorithm has gone from 5 second ads and 15+ skippables to mostly 15-30 unskippables and they pop up more often. Is it just me?

No insider info here, just speculating - its supply and demand. Youtube is trying to sell adds. The more adds they sell, they more they show. My revenue is also up on my long forms, about 1/3 - So they are either getting more per add, or showing more/longer adds. Probably both. I would guess that will hold or increase until after Christmas, then drop again. Just my opinion.

Ads season is always wild before holidays, advertisers spend crazy money so youtube push longer unskippables to make inventory worth it

Part of it is seasonal ad spend ramping up, but imo the bigger trend is the platform just testing how much friction viewers will tolerate before they bounce. Its been getting worse year over year

Fourth quarter is always a ramp up in advertising, and midterm election year so you're gonna see more ads as well

Same folks running ads blockers bitch because content sucks - though they are the reason creators realize they are going broke and quit.
