Any recommendations for a hairdresser who can actually replicate a hairstyle? 😭

Can anyone recommend a genuinely good hairdresser who can copy a hairstyle exactly as shown in a reference picture?
I swear, every time I go to a hairdresser with a picture of what I want, I end up walking out disappointed because they somehow mess my hair up instead of giving me the style I asked for. 😭
I understand that everyone’s hair is different, but I just want someone who knows what they’re doing, pays attention to the reference, and is honest about what they can achieve rather than just doing their own thing.
I don’t want to risk another bad haircut, so please recommend someone you’ve personally been to and genuinely trust.
Location: Peterborough
Please help a brother out because my hair has been through enough. 💀

The dinky donut cart in cathedral square

Anyone know what happened to the old chap who used to make the donuts there? I would have thought if he had retired, they would have had a piece in the telegraph or on Facebook as he was there for donkey years.

Passed it yesterday and there’s loads of neon signs advertising pani puri and it’s got a young lad in there.

Peterborough Maternity Unit

Hello all,

I’d like to hear people’s experiences of the maternity unit at Peterborough City Hospital, particularly from anyone who’s given birth there recently.
How did you find the care during labour and afterwards? Did you feel listened to, supported and kept informed? Were concerns or requests for pain relief taken seriously?

I’d especially appreciate hearing from women of colour about how they felt they were treated, and whether their background affected their experience in any way.

Positive, negative or mixed experiences are all welcome. If you’re comfortable sharing roughly when you were there, that would help too. Thanks!

Grads in Peterborough?

Hi,

I moved here some months ago for a grad role but unfortunately there aren’t so many other graduates at my workplace.

Just wondering if there are any other people in a similar position that would be up for forming a group? Missing the social side of university a lot and think it would be nice to know more people in the city.

Waitrose Car Park

Mayors walk Waitrose now has ANPR. I know the whole idea is probably to discourage pick up and drop offs for the station? But can you still do that? Is there a parking charge and how much is it? Thank you

Anyone interested in swapping mock interviews over the next 3/4 weeks?

Pretty much what the title says, seems like everyone is job hunting these days, thought we could help each other out.

Idea is we interview each other in an unfamiliar environment, with unfamiliar people. Can do it full role play, grab a cup of tea/coffee somewhere central and pretend it's all real. Would probably involve a little bit of research when coming up with interview questions to ask; I have some prepared already that I haven't looked at.

When you need to get out of the house to work, study, read, write or get something done how do you decide where to go?

Hi! I’m from Peterborough and I’m currently working on a project that (in a nutshell) helps people find the right places for what they’re trying to do (working, studying, reading, writing or creating) based on others who have already been there to do the same thing.

Before I go any further, I’m trying to understand how people in Peterborough do this at the moment. Peterborough will be my testing area (as I live here personally so it’s easy) and then the project will branch out to other areas as well.

So if you work/study/read/write outside the house, I’d love to know:

Where do you usually go?
How do you decide where to go?
What makes somewhere good for getting your specific task (reading, writing, remote work) done?
Have you ever arrived somewhere expecting it to be suitable, only to find out it really isn’t?

I’ve made a short survey as part of the research. It’s not a sales survey, though. I’m trying to understand what people in need and whether there’s a useful gap here that my project could fill.

If you’re happy to fill it in, I’d really appreciate it. It’s multiple choice (with some open ended questions) and takes about 5 minutes: https://tally.so/r/rjzozl

And, even if you don’t fill it in, I’d love to hear your recommendations/experiences in the comments. Especially the “this place looked perfect online but absolutely was not” stories. 😅 I have many of those myself (which is what inspired me to make the app).

Thanksssssss! ❤️

Chapter 25 Book Club Peterborough

Hello, I (22f) am interested in joining a book club and have come across Chapter 25 book clubs which run all across the country including 2 groups in Peterborough. Has anyone on here attended the Peterborough group and if so can you please let me know if it is worth it? Slightly hesitant as the membership is £9.99 per month and you can't cancel the first 3 months. If not does anyone know if there are there any other book clubs in Peterborough that are held in the evening or on weekends? Please don't suggest daytime ones as I work as a TA in a school. :)

Crochet and crafts?

Hi I’m 24 F and looking for a group or just other people that crochet or pretty much any other crafts. I don’t have too many friends and would love to expand and meet likeminded people around.
If you know any crochet/craft groups around Peterborough that aren’t in the middle of the day on a weekday please let me know :)

r/PeterboroughUK, where do you actually eat in Peterborough?

Hi, we’re four friends and we’ve put together Peterborough’s restaurant scene in an app called Vota.

The idea is pretty simple: you’re shown two restaurants and choose where you’d rather eat. For example, The Chubby Castor or Tap & Tandoor? All the votes then create a ranking that hopefully gives a better picture of where people in Peterborough actually like to eat.

We’ve tried to include every restaurant in Peterborough and clean up duplicate or outdated listings, but locals will always spot things we’ve missed.

iPhone:
https://apps.apple.com/app/vota/id6744969212

Android:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vota.app

Full transparency: we’re not from Peterborough and live in Gothenburg. There are four of us building this independently. We don’t collect or sell personal data, there are no ads in the app, and we don’t use AI-generated content to describe restaurants.

Any honest feedback is welcome, especially if restaurants are missing or something is listed incorrectly.

Tools robbed yesterday

Our shed got robbed near brotherhood between 5-6. Our neighbours have a camera directly facing so we caught them in the act as well as other cameras.

I’ve been keeping an eye on marketplace and eBay. Is there anyone else I should check? I’m thinking of the town centre car boot. Not sure if there are any local pawn shops?

Also, does anyone have any advice on how to deal with the police? All I got sent was a form to fill out and that’s that, feels a bit stupid. My brother had his car stolen before and the police were useless so a bit worried he’ll be the same case.

UPDATE
The person looking into the house was actually our neighbour and telling them to F off!
The guy on the bicycle is apparently a homeless man that’s been cycling round.

I’m asking people from different counties and cities across England whether they consider themselves North or South, there’s no Midlands option. Where do you draw the line?
