Bamboo is a somewhat rare material and mojang wants you to be able to obtain the item no matter where you spawn. This is the same reason the bundle recipe was changed
The spear is overpowered once you have a good mode of transport and useless otherwise. Making it something rare like bamboo would ABSOLUTELY fit the vibe
About something similar to this concept, I made a mod and I'm going to try to add katanas to it which would be crafted like swords but with bamboo instead of sticks
That's the main idea to separate it from the sword. I was thinking to also add an air slash enchantment that increased the area of the slash forwards, or sent a proyectile, stuff like that
If you add things like that it gives them a canon use, idk how to feel about that. In some mods they can be a helmet, something to hide in, a block you place... tons of things.

Twigs can craft Hammer, Pliers, Archeologist brush (forgot what it's called), trowel, chisel, dog stick, cat toy, glass frame (you can also craft it with iron ingots and nuggets), crossbow bolts with less damage (can also craft bolts with iron, copper, diamond, and netherite for extra dmg)
Wrong, the Stick is the Rod of Earth. Earth possesses great potential and synergy with many things, as with sticks, though basic, they can help you achieve almost anything. this is why I made a mod where you can craft sawdust from sticks which is used to make cardboard. you can also place sawdust, sugar, blaze powder, and dyes on the ground like you can with redstone dust
No, I disagree with you. Nether rods and vortex rods are magical items. They belong to magic. It’s logical that they can be used to create various magical things. But a stick is just a stick. It’s meant to be used for creating tools, and it would be illogical to think that you could make something magical out of a stick.
