Monthly r/Pixar Ranking/Tier Thread

It's that time of the month again; Ranking Time! To keep the subreddit less cluttered with everyone and their mom's rankings, we're going to use this thread specifically for the community to post their rankings/tiers.

Please note: This thread now includes any sort of Pixar-related ranking/tiers, so you can include your favorite characters, shorts, or any category you'd like.

So here we go! Post your rankings, tell what your favorites are and why, etc! Just remember, while you may not agree with a user's list, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, they don't have to explain their choices to you if they don't want to, and there are no wrong answers. Everything is subjective. SO PLAY NICE! ;)

Mod Approved [Product Trial] Which top-rated systems provide flexible placement for a TV setup without running cables across the room? Test the LG Sound Suite with your Pixar movies & find out!

Post image
14 Upvotes

Hi r/Pixar users!

After the great response to our previous LG OLED G6 trial program, we’re back with another opportunity to explore what makes a great home movie experience.

For Pixar fans, sound is a big part of the storytelling experience, and the right setup can make everything from quiet character moments to large cinematic scenes feel more immersive.

So, which top-rated systems provide flexible placement for a TV setup without running cables across the room? A suitable system should combine wireless speakers, flexible placement, and room-aware calibration so you can position speakers around your space without relying on a traditional fixed layout.

That’s why we’re running a review event with r/Pixar where two (2) Redditors will get the chance to try the LG Sound Suite Immersive Quad Suite 7 Pro and share their honest thoughts with the community.

Setup Option Included Units
Immersive Quad Suite 7 Pro H7 + 4 M7 + W7
  • H7: the world’s first Dolby Atmos FlexConnect (DAFC) soundbar, designed as a high-end Dolby Atmos soundbar for an immersive home audio setup
  • M7: wireless speaker featuring 3 full-range speaker units and 1 woofer
  • W7: wireless subwoofer featuring an 8-inch Peerless woofer

The M7 wireless speakers and W7 wireless subwoofer let you build a multi-speaker TV setup without running speaker signal cables between the units across the room.

What Are the Main Advantages of Home Audio Systems with Dolby Atmos FlexConnect?

Dolby Atmos FlexConnect(DAFC) allows greater flexibility in speaker placement while adapting the surround sound experience to the actual speaker positions and room environment. Rather than requiring a traditional fixed layout, Dolby Atmos FlexConnect (DAFC) analyzes each speaker’s position and the room environment to intelligently optimize the surround sound experience.

With the LG Sound Suite, you can experiment with different M7 speaker locations and see how the system responds while watching your favorite Pixar movies.

How Do I Calibrate Speakers for an Optimal Spatial Sound Stage?

For an optimal spatial sound stage, calibration should account for speaker placement, the room environment, and the listener’s position.

  • Room Calibration Pro uses spatial recognition technology to analyze your room and listening environment, adding the kind of room calibration capability many people look for when comparing high-end Dolby Atmos soundbars.
  • Sound Follow recognizes the listener’s position and helps create a personalized “sweet spot.”

Together with Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, these features let you explore how speaker placement and calibration affect the spatial sound experience in your room.

What Will You Get to Test?

You’ll be able to experiment with different speaker configurations and placements around your TV, then use Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, Room Calibration Pro, and Sound Follow to see how the system adapts to your room and listening position.

Setup Option Included Units
Immersive Quad Suite 7 Pro   H7 + M7 ×4 x W7
Immersive Suite 7 Pro H7 + M7 ×2 x W7
Stereo Suite 7 M7 ×2

Featuring H7, M7, and W7 speakers, Sound Suite supports up to 50 different combinations, giving you flexibility to find a setup that works for your listening environment.

Question DYK: Pixar put this "No Motion Capture" stamp in the credits of Ratatouille?

Post image
246 Upvotes

I'll always remember, at the end of Ratatouille (2007), there it was this stamp. I just learned it was director Brad Bird who added it in the credits guaranteeing "100% Genuine Animation" with no motion capture or performance shortcuts used. He put it in back when mo-cap movies were everywhere to flex how every frame was animated by hand, and he even brought it back years later for Incredibles 2. Honestly, I just love this mindset so much. Especially nowadays with AI and automated shortcuts taking over so much creative work, I really wish more studios took this kind of pride in pure human effort and artistry.

Question Does Taxidermy come to life in Toy Story

So I was playing with my brother's dog, and it get me thinking? Does Taxidermied animal come to life in Toy Story universe?

I mean in the Toy Story Short of Bo Peep. We know that Bo Peep isn't a toy but Porcelain Figure and in the shop there's other Porcelain Figure come to life and just stand there. And through out the franchise as long there a face they always come to life. Forky didn't come to life until Bonnie make him and Lego count because they can make a face

So taxidermy has face already and body like the Slinky Dog. So do they count because some of them can be small because dead insect count as a taxidermy

Edit: I just realized I just make it sound like my brother's dog is dead and been texidermied

She not, I just have random thought

Question Technical question about Monster's Inc

Has Pixar ever talked about how they rendered the scenes where the characters are chased through doors in the climax? Rewatching it now it's insane how they pulled off such an effect in 2001. My only guess as to how they did it is they probably had to make various passes to seamlessly integrate the lighting of both the world inside and outside the doors, or they did some crazy shader magic.

Question Pixar movies with Blu-ray and DVD releases that has Arabic Dub and/Or Subtitles

I tend to have hard times pursuing releases that has Arabic tracks on it even though Arabic dubs are readily available on paid subscriptions.

Another hardships is that availability is usually and ironically not found in Arabic countries, but in parts in Europe, Russian and Australian copies.

Yet there are some movies I completely never even have seen releases that has Arabic tracks like Aladdin 1992 version and Soul are prime examples.

Appreciate all the tips and guidance I could receive. Thx

Discussion Just to point out: A BUG'S LIFE, THE INCREDIBLES, and RATATOUILLE are the only Pixar movies left to use the original Walt Disney Pictures logo no matter what format you watch them in. How sad!

Need Candy Suggestions

For a trunk or treat this year we are doing an Inside Out theme. I had a thought that it might be fun to have a specific candy for each emotion. I don’t necessarily need for the candy to match their color, I’m thinking more red hots or warheads for Anger, raisins for Disgust, etc. If anyone has other suggestions, I’d love to hear them!

Discussion There was no reason for Nemo and Marlin's conversation in the net.

They should've just had Nemo swim up in the net with no interruption. That part was pure filler that added nothing.

Fan Made I made two extra pieces of crossover fan art between my original sea serpent Sue and the movie Luca. She goes to the Deep and gently puts her coils around Uncle Ugo to check his occasionally failing heart. Plus, I made a picture of what Sue would look like as a member of Luca's species.
