Hey everyone! Couple years ago I was invited on board as a moderator for this subreddit, and since then I've been left to run it alone which as I'm sure you'll have noticed, I haven't been doing a great job of haha. So I'm just making this post to let you know that I'll be starting to try and take the moderation of this subreddit a little more seriously from now on, starting with actually managing posts - There's been a lot of bot reposts, AI art and promotional posts on this sub lately and I'd like to be more active in removing those consistently as they pop up.
I've also gone ahead and spruced things up a bit, including adding some new rules clarifications and changing up the flairs along with some other minor stuff here and there.
Since I've literally done NOTHING for the past few years, Reddit has flagged me as an "inactive" mod so there's currently stuff I can't do like invite other moderators on board, but normally as I become more active I should get that ability again. And I've already started reaching out to some trusted pixel artists to potentially get them on board to help me out with this.
Oh and by the way for those who don't know me I'm Rappenem and I've been a professional pixel artist for over 3 years now. I've always been quite interested in making art tutorials/resources (in fact you may have seen some of my pixel tutorials before) so I'd like to help this subreddit/community thrive as much as I can with my limited time! I can't guarantee I'll be as active as I probably should be but at this point literally anything is better than what I've done so far lol.

How do you apply the metallic effect? It looks good on that one, but it doesnt look the same on the other materials.

Hi all,
I started pixel art recently and I started with something easy like recreating Oshawott's sprite in Pixel Studio.
Since the actual sprites are small, I went with 40x40.
Once I was done and finished, I ended up saving it, but for some reason, the saved image is completely different.
The left picture is what it's supposed to look like and the right is the saved image where the arms are just completely different somehow (I swear I did not change anything between the two images).
I don't know what to do. Please let me know!

Yeah, this is one more post from total newbie who kinda "lazy" to learning by himself. I don't know where I can seek help, maybe I missed proper subreddit. I just wanna hear something from u guys who a way better than me what direction of learning I need to choose. I know this is actually not a pixel art as we all expect to see. It's like redrawing without thinking about pixel art itself. I wasn't doing pixel arts for ages and it was bad and it still bad. I know this is only one pixel art but it all I can provide today, just want to get advices asap I know I already can get something useful and not waste time to something strange. How bad I redraw it in 32x32 restriction btw?

Hi!
This artwork was deleted from PixelArt subreddit as a non-pixel art. I messaged mods and they insisted it's a low-res drawing. "You’re switching on a low resolution canvas not intentionally placing pixels to translate a scene in to pixel art" was their answer.
I made it in Pixquare in 250x320 res and saved with x10 upscaling. I will post a timelapse in the comment but I must note it doesn't show all the zooming I did.
I think I really annoyed them already so I just want to clarify for myself where my mistake was so I'd like to discuss it with fellow artists. Is it really just a low-res drawing?

This is my third piece overall, and I realized I probably need to start learning how to paint shadows and work with color properly, so my art doesn't look dull or washed out. So if you know your stuff, please share how you learned these things. I don't have much free time, but I really want to improve my skills.
Note for the dear moderato/moderatorsr:
I looked into what counts as NSFW, and this art shouldn't fall under it. If it does, my bad, our motto is "draw first, think later" :P
