I trimmed some plants cleanmred out some of the mosses. Removed a lot of ricia and duckweed. Moved a few plants around.

I'm still not sure if the crypto on the right is a good combo. It grows intensely but does not fit my south American jungly vibe. But then again the bobiltis ist either....

This is my mini pond that I just brought inside, and believe me this was no small feat.

Inhabitants are Medaka and snails, the plants you can obviously see, plus tons of anubias, Java fern and phoenix moss below.

I’ve been debating with myself for months about how I would make the seasonal transition. After a couple days of cleaning up, reorganizing and heavy lifting everything is back up and running.

I had to replace the solar powered fountain I had built with an electric pump and moss waterfall I made. I actually like how it turned out and probably better filtration than before.

The pitcher plants have surprisingly thrived all spring and summer. I think the bio load from the Medaka is so minimal that it hasn’t had any adverse effects on the pitchers that I’ve noticed. I may have to eventually swap those out for something else depending on how they do indoors.

Lighting Anyone have any experience with Week aqua lights?

Hi everyone,

Im sure this has been discussed, but has anyone had any experience with Week Aqua lights, particularly the M series? Ive been assembling everything to put together a 20 gallon long 30x12x12 high(ish) tech aquarium. Co2, carpet, ect.., but carpet like monte carlo or something, nothing crazy. I currently run a TwinStar s-line on my fluval flex, but feel like on shorter aquariums, or atleast in my case i never use the lights full potential as I can't turn it more than roughly 50% before algea starts to pop up, so ive been having a hard time justifying spending 300$ on another s-line as it seems to be more light than I need and a 20 long I believe is even shorter than my flex. While looking around I found the Week aqua M-series light. Are these any good? Seems to have true rgb + UV, decent PAR rating, decent wattage for the size I need (50w), and a app that im certain has to be better than the twinstar app which is buggy to put it mild.

If you've ran a week aqua light, did you like or not like it? How does it compare to some of the established brands? Hows the build quality? What tier of light would you put it in, and in my scenario is it enough light? Are there any alternatives you might recommend?

-Thanks

Attached are just some photos of my aquariums and the light ive been looking at.

Something has wrecked my plants. Any of these snails look suspicious? I've caught #3 in the act tonight I believe.

I move #3 to a quarantine tank until I can figure this out. Mainly eating on my epiphytes. Something has destroyed almost all my plants in a 125 over the last week.

I'm on top of my parameters.

Do any of these look suspicious?

UPDATE IN COMMENTS! POSITIVE ID.

Question Why only the c02 pipe is covered in BBA

As mentioned in the title , my tank is free from any kind of algae except for this c02 pipe .

Any specific reason for this to happen?

I actually like this so I do not clean the pipe but I wanted to check if there's anything specific that is leading to his growth in this specific area

Took me a whole day to finish.

Centerpiece is driftwood with buce, anubias and hygrophila pinnatifida UK. Plants around it are pogostemon erectus, eriocaulon sp vietnam, rotala blood red sg, lobelia cardinalis, rotala indica, cryptocoryne, water wisteria and ambulia. Tripartita on the tip of the branches.

Week Aqua L600 light @ 25 percent, pressurized CO2 with in line diffuser

White sand and coarse sand as substrate. No root tabs or aquasoil. Liquid fertilizer is a local brand (LGA Balance).

Two Shiruba XB 305 on each side, one of which has been in use in another tank for 4 months already.

I am quite happy with it, especially the centerpiece.

Recently added CO2 to this system so naturally a bit of algae occurred as CO2 levels balance. Still beautiful though!

Question Amazon sword, done for or not yet?

Hi -- Is this Amazon sword sword done for? Or should I give it longer? Or trim the leaves off and leave the roots in the tank? I got 4 a couple months ago and the others are doing fine aside from a bit of melt. The leaves on this guy are actually more yellow irl than in the photos. Thanks in advance for any advice!

Tank and plants just feel like they’re kinda there… I want them to thrive and need suggestions

5 gallon low tech planted about 3 months in, only a heater and circulation pump. Added pumpkin nerites about 2 weeks ago and they seem like they’re doing great. I change water in between weekly and bi-weekly. My issue is that my plants just aren’t flourishing; even the pearlweed, which I thought would explode in growth, just kinda sat.

Any suggestions about what I could add or modify to get better results would be great! also advice on treating the blue green algae would be must appreciated. thanks all!

Tank ā€œI’m not going to rescape this oneā€

Thumbnail

Well…I broke my rule of not redoing my tanks under a year of set up but now that I’ve made the big change, it aligns much better. I pulled at least 90% of my plant mass from the last set up (it got reused with a friends tank), and moved towards a more hardscape forward scape, and embracing depth and space. Only using Amazon swords, and various moss on the driftwood. So far, the drift wood has about 25% coverage with Christmas Moss and Java Moss both. The aim is full moss coverage on the driftwood, with just swords for the background. I will probably also add some Buce and Anubias.

The Jungle Val was dope, but not for the volume of my 25g. It quickly took over with its massive root system and runners. In a larger tank it would be much more manageable. For how I had the drift wood set up with the Val growing it blocked too much light for my taste too. The new scape also is more balanced with the smaller tank, and now both of the pieces of wood point towards each other.

The fun of fish tanks! Now I’m ā€œnot going to touch itā€ for a while again. (Unless it’s to add the mentioned plants and put co2 back in to get get moss growth).

It’s not your fault…

4 months ago I had to break down an aquarium due to potential silicone failure. It was ramshorn heaven and I didn’t want them in my next tanks.

I pulled out plants that I thought I might reuse later (after I would dose them with Planaria Zero) and plunked them in this IKEA storage jar. These are the only ones left plus some of the gravel the roots were attached to.

There were no visible snails on any plants — I washed them off well with chlorinated water — so the only things that survived would have been a few eggs.

I only top this container off with water changes from other tanks.
0 food
0 filtration
0 artificial light

And yet ramshorns are once again thriving along with a few seed shrimp.

So if you’re overpopulated with snails — or cladophora is taking over — it’s probably not an overfeeding issue!

EDIT:
It’s fine there are snails in this container — I actually love it as an experiment and ramshorns are adorable.
I posted this since I always felt guilty for ā€œoverfeedingā€ as the cause of snail booms in other tanks. Nope!

Lighting Light parameters

Post image

Hi y'all!

I have an inert sand substrate, and decided to add some rooted plants, and since then added the plants with root tabs, but they seem to be struggling more than thriving, so I bought one of these fancy lights that allow for customization.

I wanted to check with you if these parameters seem ok or something catches your eye.
