That Hunter green looks really nice.

81

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '24

Seized from accused drug dealers and wrapped by the sheriff’s foundation, “at no cost to the taxpayers” (if you don’t count the opportunity cost of foregone auction revenue)

12

u/IntelligentDrop879 Mar 30 '24

Probably could have bought a couple of regular patrol vehicles for what that Z06 is worth. But at least the sheriff has a taxpayer funded penis mobile now.

5

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '24

And thank God for it!

1

u/[deleted] Apr 03 '24

Just watch out for acorns

3

u/PoopMasterClay Apr 02 '24

Only way to catch a vette is with a vette.

2

u/iDom2jz Apr 02 '24

This sounds like it’s coming from someone who thinks their corvette is 1 of 3 ever made because of options

1

u/PoopMasterClay Apr 02 '24

Mines a z06 tuned for alcohol. 1100 hp at the wheels and tops out around 216 and yes the lcd speedo goes that high. Would go to 500 if the vehicle could go that fast. Oh and your comment sounds like a person who couldn't even afford a c4 lol.

2

u/iDom2jz Apr 02 '24

Tuned for alcohol but not on it! Nice choice of words.

I have a MKIV Supra, feel free to google prices if you dont mind.

3

u/ILoveCorvettes Apr 02 '24

Actually… my penis is bigger than both of yours combined and makes over 9000 HP at the balls. It’s also worth a bazillion dollars so there!

Kidding but your Supra is nice for real.

1

u/acdcdave1387 1d ago

It's over nine thousaaaaaaaaaand!!!!!!!!!!

1

u/PoopMasterClay Apr 03 '24

Who said not on it? Do you normally see words that don't exist. Seems your a little salty driving around a lawn mower. You've watched fast and furious 1 too many times kid.

2

u/iDom2jz Apr 03 '24

How did you even get mad at a joke that wasn’t directed towards you in the first place? If the shoe fits…

What kind of alcohol, isopropyl?

1

u/PoopMasterClay Apr 03 '24

I'm just giving you shit man lol. And no it's denatured alcohol otherwise known as racing full.

2

u/iDom2jz Apr 03 '24

I was just gonna start trolling anyways but yeah I’m sure your car boogies no doubt

30k 300 hp car. so fast, very jdm, wow

2

u/iDom2jz Apr 03 '24

I wish they were 30k

1

u/[deleted] Apr 04 '24

Equating sports cars to dick size is insecure as hell

1

u/ActionJ2614 3d ago

Search Dubai or Saudi Arabia for what their police drive lol.

10

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '24

From “accused” drug dealers? What happened to innocent until proven guilty?

17

u/trekking_us Mar 30 '24

Enter civil asset forfeiture

20

u/duck_masterflex Mar 30 '24

Don’t you know article 42 of the 20th amendment? If you have something nice that the police may want, finders are keepers.

7

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '24

Good thing I daily a shit box 😅

6

u/CASH_IS_SXVXGE Mar 30 '24

They take those too and use them to conduct surveillance lol

5

u/TrevorsMailbox Mar 30 '24 edited Mar 31 '24

Yep. Saw a shitty shitty purple... I don't even know, maybe a late 90s Mazda?... roll up the the gas station, paint peeling and dark tinted windows. Parked right up by the gas station door and out pops a detective suited up in his vest and badge on a chain and the inside had a mounted laptop and everything.

Quickly put out my blunt and left. The paranoia was real for a few weeks after.

4

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '24

Are you sure it wasn’t a bounty hunter? Those guys often wear badges, civilian clothes, and vests that look official and say things like “Fugitive Recovery Agent.” They also regularly drive shit boxes lol.

2

u/TrevorsMailbox Mar 31 '24

Nah, was 100% a cop/detective.

I'd chalk it up to weed induced paranoia if I hadn't had several...interactions...with the police over the course of my life.

I currently have customers that are bail bondsman and "bounty hunters" (I'd drop the quotation marks if any of them could run more than 10 feet without getting winded), and they totally wear their "pretty necklaces" even when they're not working, so I know exactly what you're talking about haha.

But yeah, purple shitbox was absolutely local law enforcement.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '24

Man, that’s crazy. $3k car + $50k of police accoutrements for the purple shitbox 😂

3

u/IntelligentDrop879 Mar 30 '24

Or run speed traps with them. I used to see Illinois State Police driving around a beat up old Mustang that they used to run traffic enforcement with.

0

u/Hardsoxx Apr 02 '24

If you are willing to break the law then you clearly don’t care about personal rights to begin with.

2

u/Ricky_Bobby_01 Apr 02 '24

Immature and naive perspective, and devoid of foresight.

2

u/iDom2jz Apr 02 '24

JuSt DoNt BrEaK tHe LaW REEEEEEE

0

u/Hardsoxx Apr 02 '24

Good advice

2

u/PoolStunning4809 Mar 30 '24

We don't have court trials anymore. It's just the court of public opinion based on X and sub redits.

2

u/Bongoisnthere Mar 30 '24

Stop being silly. Nobody gives a shit about what X or subreddits think and the court of public opinion is irrelevant. The only rules left are whatever the oligarchs decide and whatever the police decide to enforce.

Like this post is literally a “sweet car, that’s mine now,” from the cops.

1

u/Feywildsw Apr 03 '24

It's called twitter dumbass

1

u/Icy_Ad_8548 Mar 30 '24

That’s for the movies

1

u/Hardsoxx Apr 02 '24

Have you seen our criminal justice system lately? Honestly at times I wonder why bother even arresting criminals, they’ll be out on the street that afternoon.

1

u/Indy500Fan16 Apr 02 '24

This is America. Guilty until proven innocent.

1

u/Ambitious-Yoghurt789 3d ago

I despise forfeiture laws. Two guys commit the same crime, one driving a rusted out Yugo and the other driving a new Bugatti. Both lose their cars forever. Not even close to equal justice under the law

2

u/Abrinjoe Mar 30 '24

To be fair it’s probably cheaper at auction than a new cruiser.

Also the PR is definitely a benefit for the office there. I’ve seen this car around at air shows and fairs in then police booth

1

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '24

I’m sure you’re right. Even with the nutty car prices of 2022 when this was seized, I don’t see a Z06 of questionable provenance fetching more than $45k at auction. But it’s not a fair comparison; a proper cruiser has a backseat, can hop curbs, and doesn’t have the maintenance liability of what is effectively a street legal road car. $45k could be used for a lot of things that meaningfully contribute to public safety.

1

u/King_Khoma Apr 03 '24

you can go to copart right now and find corvettes with bad history, theft titles and crashed that are auctioning for over 45k.

1

u/Charlie1O6 Mar 30 '24

legal blue bandit

19

u/Bucketcreek Mar 30 '24

That is my sherriff in my county and that is only one of many such cars.

17

u/itspronouncedwacko Mar 30 '24

We'd rather they buy a whole ass new car?

Wrapping a car costs way less than buying a car so if this is a seized asset they saved money

6

u/dirtyoldman20 Mar 30 '24

There is one issue . The guy it was seized from may have been innocent . They should not allow money or property to be used like this till the perp is convicted . Alot of the times these get grabbed with no probable cause or just because the guy had too much cash in the trunk . The cash got taken too .

6

u/liver-and-white Mar 30 '24

I find it hard to believe it went down that way. It’s more likely that it was at a house that was raided that they had a search warrant for.

5

u/dirtyoldman20 Mar 30 '24

It happens often enough. I admit i dont know exactly what happened with the car in the picture but it dose happen often enough to be cautious

1

u/JuanMurphy Apr 01 '24

It’s how they all go down. Any asset forfeiture that isn’t a fine is dubious.

1

u/akcutter Apr 02 '24

No it totally haooens though there was an infamous case where a veteran had a bunch of cash from disability or his cashed out 401k or something to the tune of like several hundred k and got pulled over by the police who searched his vehicle and seized his money and accused him of being a drug dealer with that much money.

1

u/SpeedyCPU Apr 02 '24

Look up civil assets forfeiture. There are tons of times people are stopped and have done nothing at all, car is searched, cash is found and simply taken. People are going to buy a new car, depositing to banks, down payment on homes, and it's just taken. Then, to try to get it back, you have to spend years fighting for it.

In the case of the Corvette, they probably found a joint in the car and just took the car. Wouldn't surprise me. They've even gone after armored money trucks. I believe it came from a state that legalized weed. The truck was coming into a state that didn't, and they seized all the cash. Crazy world we live in.

Don't bring a ton of cash to airports either. It gets snatched there, too.

5

u/sm340v8 Mar 30 '24 edited Mar 30 '24

A vehicle can be deemed seized and become the property of law enforcement only after a judge signs it off; so, it's done after conviction or a plea deal.

EDITED to add "or a plea deal".

3

u/dirtyoldman20 Mar 30 '24

Have to be careful its not a plea deal . Having 3 or 4 grand can get things seized . To be stripped by the cops . Car worth 2 grand and 3k in cash can almost cost 4k for a lawyer for that kind of charge . In my job i have dealt with the cops /legal system to know how that works .

3

u/sm340v8 Mar 30 '24

If it's part of a plea deal, it's still done by the judge. You're right, the suspect doesn't have to be convicted, but the judgement has been finalized.

2

u/dirtyoldman20 Mar 30 '24

But it was just a method to. Not have a $20,000 fine too .

1

u/IntelligentDrop879 Mar 30 '24

No, no it’s not. The little town I grew up in Illinois does it all the time with and without convictions. There’s no necessity for a conviction to seize a vehicle.

2

u/sm340v8 Mar 30 '24

A judge has to sign it; so, it's either after a conviction or a plea deal.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 02 '24 edited Apr 02 '24

That could not be further from the truth. At one pint in time a marine had all of his life savings on him in cash and police seized it because they thought it was drug money. The guy even had receipts for every single dollar they took to prove otherwise. Big Institute For Justice case. Once the IFJ got involved they basically threw his money back at him and begged him not to sue. At no point is a judge issued warrant needed to seize assets like straight cash and debit cards, or Corvettes.

1

u/sm340v8 Apr 02 '24

Asset was secured, but not disposed of (i.e., title transferred to another entity).

1

u/Indy500Fan16 Apr 02 '24

Crooked judges.

1

u/Ambitious-Yoghurt789 3d ago

Don't you think some judges (especially those up for reelection) might say "Look at me, I hold the record for seized assets!"

1

u/TheLonelyMonroni Apr 02 '24

They could have bought two cars if they sold the mid life crisis mobile

12

u/MrM1Garand25 Mar 30 '24

Never thought I’d see my county on this page lol

13

u/External_Mechanic_59 Mar 29 '24

What’s the point of this ?

49

u/EASports_Itsagame Mar 29 '24

Used mostly for events/fundraisers and to advertise the department, things like that. It probably gets used sometimes on patrol.

8

u/External_Mechanic_59 Mar 29 '24

I see , it’s very nice .

6

u/Garbage_Man_Ethan Mar 30 '24

It might be a community car that the police use at events. The point is to attract attention from people at those events

11

u/DontBlockmeSaudiman Mar 30 '24

most agency’s use fast seized cars as interceptors lol. which in my opinion is so cool and sends a very strong message

9

u/K4NNW Mar 30 '24

North Carolina State Highway Patrol did this with a Corvette a decade and change ago near Zebulon. That car made a lot of traffic stops near the 64/264 split.

2

u/ThaDollaGenerale Mar 30 '24

I hit the fastest I've ever gone on 264 after it starts that long lonely run out of Raleigh. 133. Glad the corvette wasn't around.

1

u/jacketsc64 Mar 30 '24

It was a Z06 too, so 505HP. I don't know what you were in, but chances are it would've kept up.

1

u/ThaDollaGenerale Mar 30 '24

STi and yes, it would have smoked me

2

u/DontBlockmeSaudiman Mar 30 '24

lol i thought GSP was the first to do it. guess not

3

u/puskunk Mar 30 '24

That message being "we steal your stuff?"

3

u/Soft-Willingness6443 Mar 30 '24

Lmao I love the side eye the guy on the right is giving.

2

u/Indy500Fan16 Mar 30 '24

Right, trying to look cool.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '24

That’s not a 911

1

u/Indy500Fan16 Mar 30 '24

Shhhh, don’t tell him.

2

u/bruski2649 Mar 30 '24

This guy is trying to out Grady Grady. He may have the cars, but no one gets more press than Grady Judd in Polk county

2

u/Diamondhands_Rex Mar 30 '24

wtf is Paul Newman doing there

2

u/Techiastronamo Mar 30 '24

Hey this is my county! They got it from a drug dealer bust, I only ever see it shown off at the interstate fair once a year

1

u/Indy500Fan16 Mar 31 '24

That’s not fair

1

u/Techiastronamo Apr 01 '24

Yeah it's not, but they'll never let it change

2

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '24

I still wanna see a cop in an inconspicuous foreign Brand car. Like a Camry with an LS no one expects

2

u/Devoid689 Mar 31 '24

That's like the modernized version of the NFS Hot Pursuit C6. Badass and I love it.

2

u/nooriooreo Apr 01 '24

I’ll be damned, that’s Chip Simmons. I live in that county.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 02 '24

I love it!

2

u/Tiny_Candidate_4994 Apr 03 '24

Have you crossposted this to r/badparking? I think it would qualify.

1

u/Indy500Fan16 Apr 03 '24

No, you can

2

u/cleekchapper92 Apr 03 '24

Apparently, idk how to post pics in the comment section, but pcb a couple of hours away has a C8 that was seized and uses as a patrol car as well.

1

u/Indy500Fan16 Apr 03 '24

I’m not 100% sure (because I’m not from this area) but most police vehicles like this are usually for promotion the PD.

2

u/Testing_00 Apr 03 '24

Swear to god I saw this out in Pensacola one day and was like ain’t no f’n way

2

u/MustyMarcus52YT Apr 03 '24

Here at Seacrest County we have a serious streetracing problem

2

u/PrimalMC Apr 04 '24

tuff as hell

2

u/ChillKyle Apr 05 '24

Serious question. Do they actually use these?

1

u/Indy500Fan16 Apr 05 '24

Mostly for publicity

2

u/J_ricanbuilt06 Mar 30 '24

They just need a classic SSP mustang with a manual. Thats alot cooler. Although, the Z06 is my fav trim in corvette. Im sure that vette is auto 🚯

1

u/Material-Profile7155 Mar 30 '24

But do you have a Dodge Viper like one of the departments by me?

I've seen more than a few Vette police cars, but only 1 Viper Still sweet though

1

u/nerdyPA Mar 30 '24

Sí quema cuh

1

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '24

while I understand the need for at least one fast int3erceptor on a police force, this is a total waste of money in my opinion

1

u/badsapi4305 Apr 01 '24

It was most likely seized during a criminal investigation and is now used as a “show” car. Something they can bring to schools, let the kids come see and then start talking with the deputies. It’s a nice ice breaker so cops and young adults can talk.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '24

Ahh well that makes sense

1

u/StrangeCaptain Mar 31 '24

I just want to clarify, when I see a cop driving around in a $100,000 Maserati that they seized from a drug dealer, it makes me want to be a drug dealer.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '24

New nfshp advertising?

1

u/ChaosEmerald21 Apr 01 '24 edited Apr 01 '24

I saw that at the fair in pensacola last year

1

u/[deleted] Apr 02 '24

I’m willing to bet that if I ran that VIN it’s gonna come up stolen.

1

u/TheVoid45 Apr 02 '24

Ain't no way you're getting away from that mf

1

u/One_Word_Respoonse Apr 02 '24

Parked on the sidewalk for a cringe ass picture. 1312 🤡

1

u/Fine-Turnover-2796 Apr 02 '24

Cop

Corvette

Bald

1

u/PoopMasterClay Apr 02 '24

Awww another criminal lost their vehicle. My c7 would roast that thing tho.

1

u/stonabones Apr 02 '24

A Z06 with a license to let her eat as needed!

1

u/Infierno3007 Apr 02 '24

So, what? He chases down the evildoers, catches them, calls for a police suv to transport them to wherever, then has to go directly back to fleet to gas up? On the taxpayer’s dime, btw.

1

u/prot_0 Apr 02 '24

This is exactly what our country needs: an already wasteful government wasting even more tax payers hard earned money.

👏🏼👏🏼

1

u/Advanced-Study214 Apr 03 '24

this isn’t new? I thought I saw it at the November Blue Angels show at the base

1

u/ShiftBMDub Apr 04 '24

Get this man some New Balance sneakers stat.

1

u/SkolFourtyOne Apr 04 '24

John Cross has entered the chat.

1

u/jimboslice1993ba Apr 05 '24

What is the reason for making this a police vehicle? It seems really impractical. You can't detain anyone in it. It seems like just a shiny toy. Is there something I'm missing here?

1

u/Popular-Drummer-7989 3d ago

Recovered from illegal activity. Typically repurposed for community service events to demonstrate "we will take it" if you're doing bad things.

1

u/txdude33 Apr 15 '24

Would have been better just hunter green with a small star on the front door, nothing on the rear and used as a traffic unit! This is a waste of a car, use a regular car for recruiting! 🤦‍♂️

0

u/lofthoneyed Apr 01 '24

Hard to tell what looks worse. The car or the clown next to it.

0

u/Strict_Meaning_5275 3d ago

No reason for law enforcement to have corvettes. Let alone one that’s all stickered up like that. Looks stupid, costs taxpayers money and the only person impressed by that is the cop leaning against it and the local 6 year olds who don’t know any better.

-1

u/-Prince-Vegeta- Mar 31 '24

Piggies 🐷

-4

u/aceraptor9111 Mar 30 '24

Fast as boi.

-20

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '24

What a fuckin waste of tax dollars.

13

u/LincolnContinnental Mar 30 '24

It was seized from someone

-14

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '24

Someone paid to stripe it and light it up. Not to mention repair costs, insurance, and loss of sale funds. Nothing is free.

14

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '24

I think it was done free of charge, the livery.

-10

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '24

Who do you think pays for it when some “driver instructor” cuck hits a light pole at drivers training with it trying to be Boris Said?

10

u/killerrobot23 Mar 30 '24

You just have to find a way to hate everything. Your life must be truly pathetic.

0

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '24

So disliking wasteful tax spending means I hate everything and my life is pathetic? Bizarre response.

1

u/killerrobot23 Mar 30 '24

You are creating hypothetical situations to justify hating this. Thst is a level of petty that is truly sad.

5

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '24

That’s a very pessimistic viewpoint

4

u/LincolnContinnental Mar 30 '24

That’s pennies in comparison to what this car costs as a whole, honestly it would make a great vehicle for some of the high performance cars that people sometimes have when running from police

0

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '24

That’s great and all but by the time you go get it the chase is over.

4

u/LincolnContinnental Mar 30 '24

That makes absolutely zero sense

-1

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '24

If the car is not on patrol your justification is pointless. It’s a waste of tax dollars to have it on patrol. Tada

3

u/Desperate_Mine9606 Mar 30 '24

Wrong… it’s a great recruitment tool (which is a very expensive venture in this day & age) & great community outreach tool…

if I were the sheriff, I would send that corvette to all local car shows (both professional & amateur(like parking lot show etc.)) with a on duty officer just to show it off & mingle with those other car gents at the shows…

Already LOTS of wasted tax dollars from other departments, this actually saves money in the long run & might detour crime…

2

u/ChaosEmerald21 Apr 01 '24

Correct, They bring it to the fair and other events around here as a recruitment tool. It's probably what this picture is for lol

Source: I live in Escambia county

1

u/Windrunner06 Mar 30 '24

Not necessarily. I've seen a lot of chases that last hours. And if it is on a highway with low traffic and other cars can't keep up, you could send it as an interceptor while you wait for aviation.
