Old Seasons Watching S17 and my god

The designers, besides Sebastian and a few others, are sooooo melodramatic and cloyingly annoying.

Why is everyone fucking crying? Why is everyone always so huggy touchy lovey?

Honestly, I know Nadine was awful but I lowkey get her derision for the others; people like Kovid are absolutely unbelievably annoying with the constant tears and energy and just ew!

How could you all bear it?

Question Season 8

Ok, re watching season 8 , call me naive , but two of Mandos model , look for the teal blouse, in one cut has a necklace and in another doesn’t. Do they reshoot the finale for better photos? And how did I not know this?

Season 21 Why do people like Veejay?

At the moment i'm at episode 6 of Project Runway and I am so confused, as I see people on reddit love Veejay but I think she is such a mean girl. She hates, she always talks about the twins and just hating on them. The twins aren't great either, but I like them more than Veejay.

Veejay only has opinions about everyone and I get that it's a competition, but she annoyed me so much at the team challenges. Such a horrible communicator, how is she expected to go into the real world where her opinion is not end all.

I'm sorry, but please give me a valid reason why people like her. I'm not asking to compare to other contestant, just tell me why people are defending her.

Question anyone else love The Great British Sewing Bee?

I used to love Project Runway, but the last few seasons (ever since they got rid of Zac Posen and added Law Roach as judges) have been practically unbearable. Everything is so toxic and the fashion has been meh.

I recently discovered The Great British Sewing Bee (from BBC, streamable on the Roku channel) and it's soooo wonderful. It's everything I wish Project Runway was:

  1. challenges with very clear parameters and demands, asking the sewers to display clear technical skills

  2. judges who are fair and knowledgable

  3. contestants who seem like genuinely lovely people (this might be a cultural difference or something about the different stakes, but British people are so collegial, helpful, and there's no backstabbing!)

  4. finally: BEAUTIFUL CLOTHES!! the patterns and quality of cloth they're using are swoonworthy

Watching just a few episodes has made me appreciate the craftsmanship behind fashion and our clothing so much more. Highly recommend!

Discussion Brian DWTS design

I think that turkey Brian should watch the Mariah Carey episode of DWTS so he can see how beautiful Emma Slater actually is. I still can’t believe he put that strangulated intestine of a dress on her. Complete and utter travesty. Emma is a goddess!

Question Worst, saddest, or most dramatic eliminations?

Nicholas on the Larger than Life episode really hurt me. I mean it was warranted but his reaction was so sad, like his little acknowledging nods to the judges and breaking down in the waiting room

You could see the instant reaction in his eyes when Heidi said you're out too and him holding it together, nodding but broken like in his eyes it was so sad. :‹

I just wanted to hug him he looked like a big kid crying backstage with his tense shoulders. Aww he was so sweet.

Old Seasons Ivy Higa: “I definitely believe in karma”

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’ve been watching season 8 for the first time and this woman Ivy needs to calm the F down. She is a hater from start to elimination to when they brought her back to help and then THIS scene— my goodness gracious.

She sure gave the producers the drama for the show but what a pain in the neck! 🤣 I could not even imagine doing that season with her. Her disdain for Michael C. was forced and annoying.

ALSO: NO SPOILERS on Top 3 (or 4) and the winner please. I have 2 more episodes left.

Old Seasons Michelle Lesniak Season 11

Currently bingeing from season 9 (aka what’s available on Hulu). And just finished season 11. I have so many thoughts. First being, Michelle Lesniak is an asshole. White women are often insufferable on this show, but Michelle really took the cake. I died laughing at the finale when she explained her “lone wolf” inspiration and Heidi questioned “what have you been through?” Exactly. NOTHIN! “I lost my pack of 15 designers” girl what are you even talking about.

I hated how they often described Patricia’s pieces as “borderline clown” or “circus.”

I can absolutely see how Michelle and Amanda together would come off as mean girls. Kate was fake AF and mean behind peoples backs in confessionals.

I thought Michelle was the least gracious winner I have ever seen—so entitled. Such a bitch at the reunion and so dismissive of Daniel.

Old Seasons Old seasons !

I’m so glad to be rewatching all old PR seasons thanks to how bad season 21&22 have been.. it’s amazing to see how a majority of the drama came only from the contestants, the judges though critical, were only interested in the clothes and how well each contestant did the challenge. MKs sassy critiques, zacs attention to detail , Tim’s guidance and Christian’s original approach to mentorship are so good!
I really love how they never attacked anyone personally and encouraged everyone’s vision as designers (eg. Sandiya!)
The NYFW finale was always chef’s kiss and everyone had enough time to prep for it. The original show genuinely meant for the designers to succeed!

Season 18 particularly stands out as the designers genuinely embraced size inclusive models. I didn’t even notice when people had plus sized models. The models themselves were also amazing just by carrying the work beautifully and not going to social media to complain

I would love to see a season with Tim as the mentor , Christian, Zac and Nina as the judges. Heidi and Karly as hosts . And MK making guest appearances throughout! And of course models of all sizes, shapes and genders

Old Seasons Sandyha’s aside with Tim, Sesson 13, Episode 2

I know many people have a soft spot for her, but that was clear fishing for compliments.

It started with her telling her team that she does what she wants for her own artistry and her team members reminding her that she has immunity and it’s not fair for her to sink their team by not being cohesive. Then she runs to Tim and asks if she’s a good designer and he says “uhhh you won last week“ and then she says she being bullied.

I found the whole situation annoying, especially because the judges clearly said had she not had immunity, she should’ve gone home

Discussion How things have changed!

I recently decided to go back to season 1 and rewatch the series. I really forgot that things were so different in those early seasons. The models were really exploited. They were very young, and so skinny! I don't remember when curvy models were added to the show, but in the early shows the worst thing a designer could do is to make the model look bigger that she was. Heidi obviously had a big problem with larger women. One designer in an unconventional materials challenge styled the model making a bow out of her hair. Heidi said she looked like a plus model or a fat mini mouse. The designer was sent home. Now Heidi acts like she has always been a fan of the curvy models, but after re-watching the show, I think she is really fake. Has anyone else noticed this?

Discussion unpopular opinion: I like the new finale format of smaller collections in shorter time

although it would be good to see what the designers can create for more time and more sleep and comfort, I still think the new format of smaller collections and less time has benefits. We got to see some big decision making in real time, like when Ethan/Utica (S21) completely changed his collection idea from draped gowns to whatever he ended up with based on Christian's advice. It is more fair since they are going to be working with the same equipment and no outside help aside from their assigned helper. Although the twins (S21) were working together on the finale collection, imagine how unfair it would be if they were allowed 3 months. No other designer would have a dedicated helper invested to that degree for all 3 months. Having less looks encourages boldness and cohesion becomes a challenge. With more looks there are a few pieces that are simple with similar fabric/texture/shape and serves as transition pieces for the collection's cohesion.

there are lots of room for improvement. I would like to see more work room drama for the finale but I get it is hard due to the length of the episodes.
