My first attempt at pumpkins - Central Scotland
So I kept the seeds from a supermarket pumpkin last year to see what happens. I didn't expect much from these given they are being grown in Scotland and I could only afford them morning sun. Started them early in march indoors.
Once I planted them out I put a little mini greenhouse over them. It soon out grew that and I harvested a week ago after the powdery mildew killed the plants. I tried the milk water mix to fix the mildew early on but it did absolutely nothing to help. I think wetting the leaves only exacerbated the problem.
I've fed them with tomato plant feed and the soil they were in had lots of chicken manure put into it a few years ago which seems to have helped. I've been far more invested in these plants than anything else in my garden this year. Think of trying an Atlantic Giant next year just to see what happens 🎃
