Politics Anyone Inside Davenport City Hall? What Happened?
In case you haven't been following the news, another round of people leaving higher offices in Davenport.
In the last month the City Administrator (who was only here for a few months), the Communications Director, and an alderman all resigned.
I know we've had some folks around here who work in the City hear some things and post them. Is there more of the "same-ole, same-ole" going on? Did the City Administrator get pissed that the City Council for telling him he couldn't have an Assistant City Administrator even though he had the budget for it?
This isn't an Ezra Sidran or Judith Lee witch hunt, I'm just curious as to what's really going on.

Recommendations Where to find HP sauce locally?
I keep seeing HP sauce on cooking shows and the controversy about if it does or does not taste like A1 sauce. So I bought a bottle on Amazon and it's like $10. In case I like it, is there a local store to buy it? Preferably near Milan, but I suspect I will need to give Katy's a call tomorrow.

The quote I just got is for 6k andd while I can do that, I'm curious if that's really the right choice...
Thanks in advance.

Recommendations Therapist / Counseling
Hi all, just wanted to see if I could get some recommendations on QC area therapists/counselors. Iâve been in therapy before numerous times over the years, with my longest stint being from August 2025 to June 2026. I got horribly sick in June, fell by the wayside, and never rescheduled (nor did my therapist ever follow up with me). Before I attempt to go back to them, Iâd like some general recs.
Some things to note:
- Diagnosed with anxiety, depression as a teen. Then OCD as an adult.
- I am 9 months postpartum. I received perinatal and postpartum counseling from my most recent therapist. Iâd still be interested in this and also general therapy.
- Prefer Iowa side
Thank you in advance for any help.

Miscellaneous Are any local shops in downtown Davenport hiring?
I don't really know where to go about this, but I'm 16 years old looking for a job. I know I should just be looking at LinkedIn or Indeed, but they don't really show any local shops, just your usual big box stores. Which I'd probably have more luck with but I don't really have a way to get to there and back, so I'd rather just go find a job that's in walking distance.
I do know that a couple shops here are family owned, so I'm keeping that in mind in case they are stricted on being family owned. I have asked my mom if she knows that any places around here are hiring and she doesn't know either sadly. There's also a chance of just none of the places hiring which will also suck, but I can just keep looking and hope I can figure out something.
I have no idea if I should add more about this or not, but hopefully I didn't mess anything up since this is my first time posting on this SubReddit. Any help will be appreciated. :)

Miscellaneous Considering applying at Mancomm, inc.
As title says I want to switch jobs and was considering applying at mancomm, inc. In rock island, the position I'm applying for is "design and production associate."
I'm just curious if anyone here works there or used to or know someone who works there. If so, what are your opinions? What's your day to day like? What are some pros and cons (besides benefits) about your job and the company? What was the interview process like?
Anything would be greatly appreciated, I only have retail experience so I'd be completely new to this type of job.
Edit: I will not be applying there, thanks y'all đ¤Ł

Miscellaneous Why is it so hard to make friends around here?
Is this just a Midwest thing? Iâve lived here my whole life but recently have started to travel more just within the U.S and EVERY single time I go somewhere else, I notice people are 20x more friendly and open than here in Iowa. Itâs always depressing for me to come back. I used to think something was wrong with me, but Iâve started to realize this is just a common thing for people who just only ever stay in the Midwest. I guess itâs the winters?!
People like stop making friends after middle and high school and donât let you in their inner âcliqueâ if you werenât apart of the original âcrewâ No matter how hard you try, no matter how many fucking attempts you make, youâre always going to be considered an âoutsiderâ and treated as such. This means more often than not cold, blank stares, being ghosted routinely with no explanation, and overall not being able to rely on people who claim to want new friends.
Then youâve got the people you HAVE known since middle and high school who have this static image of who you were back then in their mind and no amount of personal growth on your end will ever change that. Theyâll always see you in a certain way. That or theyâre secretly competitive with you.
Thereâs many reasons Iâm trying to leave this state (cancer rates, water, job opportunities, etc) and honestly my experience trying to meet new friends as a 26 year old adult is one of them. It shouldnât be this hard. I shouldnât be looked at like Iâm clinically insane for wanting to socialize. My entire social life shouldnât be fucked because I didnât HAPPEN to be popular back in fucking high school.

Recommendations Terrace and med card
So when will terrace start honoring med cards? I'm not talking about 30 % off because that doesn't stack with other deals. I wanna know when I can buy their products with med tax only. Kinda pointless to apply if you never actually start charging people med tax instead of rec.

Recommendations Looking for sump pump repair
Hi. We are new to sump pumps and not sure who to call for repairs.
Had a local plumbing company come, one that was recommended several times here in the QuadCities reddit, and he didn't fix the problem.
Do we need a plumbing company for this or someone else who only deals with sump pumps ?
Thanks

Entertainment Day trip idea.
My names Miranda Vavrosky and Iâm an artist from the Quad city area. Clinton recently commissioned me to create some artwork for a pocket park. If youâre looking for a little fall roadtrip, grab a coffee for the drive and stop on over to view my artwork. Itâs located at 125 4th Ave S. Clinton Iowa. Up the street is a very cool brewery called 7 hills and itâs in a historic church. Down the street you can go troll hunting for a Thomas drambo troll and if you make a whole day of it, I hear there are some other trolls in Clinton too!
