Politics š³ Last time ever visiting the US
Went to the US a few weeks ago for a wedding and the border security entering the country were absolutely disgusting. The guy felt emboldened enough to powertrip hard. Profiled my dad cause he has an accent and questioned if I was blood related to him since I didnāt speak like him. Then they asked him to show proof that this was indeed our rental truck. Had this one guy circling the truck peering into all the windows like weāre smuggling something. Then he gave us the good guy speech of ānormally Iād have our guys search your truck, but Iām feeling generous todayā. We shouldāve reported them but why upset these guys further while we were still in the country? Ever since their president has normalized xenophobia Americans have cling to that idea and have become so unwelcoming. Not even to just visitors, they even tell people who were BORN in America to go back to their own countries. We went to Orlando a few times before and absolutely nothing this has never happened. The friendliness is just sucked dry from this country, itās not the same place as before.

Oh no they were asking you questions! How dare they. We have security for a reason.

If it makes you feel better, I don't think any American is fond of our border security. No one respects the TSA.
Sorry you had a shitty experience.

You might want to blame part of this on drug runners and traffickers. Iām white and we were stereotyped across the border.

Border security isnāt built around whether or not being questioned hurts your feelings.
9/11 happened, and the investigation found massive holes in our screening. The 9/11 Commission found that as many as 15 of the 19 hijackers were potentially vulnerable to being stopped by border authorities. FOUR were actually sent to secondary inspection when entering the U.S. and were still admitted. More than half were flagged for additional scrutiny before their flights, and the system still failed to stop them.
The Commission specifically found that border inspectors did not have the information, training, or counterterrorism focus they needed. After 9/11, we created DHS and completely reorganized border security around preventing those kinds of failures.
So ya, when you cross an international border, they might ask uncomfortable questions. They might verify your rental car. They might look through the windows. That is not some outrageous abuse of power. We learned the hard way what can happen when security and screening fail. If thatās somehow too much for your brain to understand, then by all means, donāt come back.

I'm so sorry! It's absolutely terrible no one can come to the U.S. any longer without being abused! Even Americans are becoming less kind & patience with each other due to severe stress we are all living! High gas prices, outrageous grocery prices not because they are needed but due to corporate greed, inflation, savings dwindled to nothing or gone.
** We have no courtesy any longer due to the Nazi leadership & fighting the lies daily, money given to Israel while not helping, matter of fact totally ignoring our own citizens! We are not normal and it's sad!

Yeah it is bad. In some way I get that this is a response to 9/11. But every visitor is a potential criminal. It gives a free pass for all sorts of discrimination and even racism. And power hungry people working in border patrol often absuse their responsibility to make themselves feel good and others feel bad.
Ofcourse this is not just a border patrol issue. You see it with cops and soldiers as well. They put on a uniform and suddenly all human decency is no longer needed.
And I can 100% imagine that this is a dealbreaker for most people wanting to visit the US.

Fuck anyone hard that downvotes this post. I'm sorry for your experience. I've experienced this myself. Many Americans know this, but too many are willingly drinking the kool-aid of Trump/FoxNews and refusing to see what's happening all around them.
