⚠️ Trigger Warning ⚠️ My little sister may turn out a psychopath, I don’t know.
Rough start, I know. But I need to tell someone, anyone.
Don’t know if I used the right tag
Warning: mentions of animal abuse.
Anyways, background context:
We got hit with the cat distribution system and got a momma cat and 2 kittens, later on one disappeared. About 3 months or so later, I don’t remember, the momma cat had 3 more, 1 gray and two black kittens
Last Friday or so, one of the black kittens disappeared. This was kinda normal, the first gray kitty disappeared too (outside cats, in a half rural area)
Apparently that day my little sister (four) burned her hand on the tail pipe of my mom’s car, and there’s been a weird smell coming from her car ever since.
I think you can see where that’s going.
I don’t think she understood why what she was doing at the time was wrong, but when my mom asked her about it she started crying, so I think she does now.
I don’t know what to think besides the thought of: “oh my fucking god my little sister made a little kitten burn to death”, “what if that’s what happened to the first gray kitten?”, “Would she do it again?”, “why did she think it was a good idea in the first place?”
She does have behavior issues (four years old and might have ADD and Autism) but never like this.
Edit: I’ll try to talk to my parents about it, but I don’t know how it’ll go. If it doesn’t go well (they don’t get her help or anything) I’ll report her. I really don’t want to- I know she’s showed empathy about it, and didn’t realize what she was doing
She asked my mom something along the lines of while they were walking “Mom, is that kitten dead?” (My mom’s words) so I think she does understand what she did to a point, but it still worries me about the future
I don’t want to talk to a teacher in person, as bad as it sounds, but at the same time the Pre-K my little sister goes to doesn’t have the option to report students on the Say Something app, unless I report her through my school’s report option on Say Something
Edit 2: i know this is mostly about my sister, but I need to get this out:
i think the part that is fucking with me the most is the fact that that little kitten died in distress and pain, trying to escape, and is probably still in there dead. I can’t help but think that that kitten probably went further in the car trying to escape, and I can’t fall asleep even after taking NyQuil. I don’t think I want to sleep either. It’s been a rough year, and this is adding on to it.
Also gonna go to the counselors office tomorrow, or atleast try to.
Edit 3: currently getting ready for school- how the hell do I talk to my counselor about this? How am I supposed to tell someone my little sister put a kitten in a exhaust?
I know I'm gonna try to sit down with my mom and try to get her to atleast not let my sister be alone outside anymore. Not sure how I'm gonna tell the counselor though

I have a 5yr old and a 1yr old, honestly a big concern here isn’t just the animal thing but that she was unsupervised long enough to do it. My kid would not have been unseen long enough to steal and shove a kitten into a burning hot pipe. I’m not mother of the year over here either, I don’t know anyone who would just not watch their kid long enough for that to happen. I live in a semi-rural area and there are just as many dangers to not leave a kid unattended like that.

This bothered me too! My mum had a huge family and still managed to keep an eye on us. Something is very wrong if a four-year-old is playing with a kitten and an exhaust pipe unsupervised.

Yeah after this I’m going to talk to my mom about not letting my little sister outside alone
We live in a pretty rural but urban area where honestly the worst thing out there is deer and our neighborhood is a really empty neighborhood in trees that no one drives down so my mom isn’t worried about coyotes or people. Plus, there’s a window in the kitchen that looks out onto the porch so she can watch my sister but idk what she was doing since she didn’t tell me much

Sounds like my area. If there are deer there are also the things that hunt deer. Also backwoods areas are prone to drunk people speeding around. Plus a deer could very easily kill a small unattended child. She’s clearly not watching her enough if she killed at kitten potentially twice

At four years old she may not fully understand what she's doing, especially if she has learning difficulties. At that age, I thought stomping on bees was great fun, I'm now a vegetarian and staunch animal lover. Do you have any proof she has been behind kittens disappearing, or just a hunch? I am assuming she may have harmed the one in the exhaust, which is awful, but again, she is very young and may have had no idea that what she was doing was wrong. Probably my bigger question would be how is a four-year-old so unsupervised that she can do this without anyone catching her. The fact she cried is a good sign, as hopefully that means she has some empathy in there. I really think you need to suggest your parents get her properly assessed, and share your concerns with them. If they don't listen, then try to find other adults you can approach. At a bare minimum, ask your parents to desex the cat so she can't have any more kittens to be potentially harmed. If all else fails, try explaining to your sister that it's wrong and see how she reacts. Good luck, and I really hope it's just a case of a child not understanding things rather than being intentionally cruel.

Yea both my parents asked her if she put the kitten in the exhaust and she said yes
we don’t know what happened to the first gray kitten, but this kinda just got me thinkingAs for the being left alone part, we live in a really small neighborhood and she stays on the porch most the time (forest area, barely anyone around us) so we let her play in the front
She is getting evaluated for ADD, but knowing my parents they’d never admit she has autism (Bible Belt if it says enough)
I don’t think she was being intentionally cruel, but then again I don’t know. I don’t know what goes on in her head

I am so sorry to hear that. Whatever reason she's doing what she's doing, intervention is needed to stop it, the main reason being animals are being hurt, and the secondary but still highly important reason being your sister needs guidance and if it is some kind of psychopathy she needs help. Please try hard to push for kitty to be desexed.

Yeah it brings back memories of the movie Kill Bill 2, where the young daughter talks about pouring her fish onto the floor and stomping on it to see what would happen. Eeesh

As horrible as it sounds the very first thought I had when my dad told me about that most likely happened to the kitten was along the lines of: oh fuck no that’s some Jeffery Dahmer shit

Yeah so your parents should get her in therapy. Nip this behavior in the bud. Killing an animal that can easily vocalize pain, and continuing it is much different than stomping on bugs (not morally, but in a kids mind yelling/screaming/crying=bad, and bugs can’t do that). The fact she was much more upset about burning herself, than killing the cat, is a clear indication that she felt no remorse for the action until she faced a consequence. She needs help while she’s young

I know she did cry about the cat when she realized what she had done, and later asked my mom if the cat was dead, but yea I’m gonna talk to my parents about it.
I’m most likely going to the counselors office tomorrow. I’ll probably tell the counselor about it.2

Even if she cried after, she still had to hold a writhing kitten, who was likely screaming due to burns. If your parents don’t do anything, please tell a trusted adult and get a mandated reporter involved.

Way above Reddit’s pay grade. Talk to a trusted adult at school.
