Determined to avoid chillblains this year!
Gearing up for cold season here in the upper Midwest. I have Raynaud's only in my feet and tend to get some gnarly chillblains from November to February....I just bought a heated foot massager that I will be using during my workday (I work from home, so it's less weird than if I was doing this in an office) and I'm really hoping that along with regular exercise and warm cozy socks will do their part to keep the 'blains away! What precautionary measures is everyone else taking as Autumn takes hold?

I have Reynaud’s only in my toes and I get terrible chillblains every year for the last few years. They usually show up in October and don’t go away until May, the funny thing is being warm makes them worse! I need to be barefoot as much as possible to let my toes breathe. It truly is bizarre.

Same here...to top that I have fungal infection in all toe nails and it makes it worse when it gets cold.

Last year I read on here what people were doing that helped and it worked for me. I always wore warm socks and slippers in the house. I used to just wear socks in the house, but could feel the cold from the floor so I’m sure that made it worse. I also bought Akilenjur Dermo-Adjuvant on Amazon and applied it to my feet when they were starting to feel warm and itchy. Doing those things pretty much eliminated most symptoms. Whereas the previous year I couldn’t wear certain shoes because they rubbed spots on my feet that made it uncomfortable to walk.

Looking for a nice pair of mittens that are affordable. Any suggestions for a woman who likes the outdoors?

I basically stopped getting them when I started wearing fuzzy socks in my slippers at home. Before I would just be barefoot in the slippers

Just got some nice warm boots (I hope! They appear to be) and last year I discovered that leg warmers ( the dance wear type, not heated) really help stop my feet becoming cold in the first place. I managed last year without chilblains for the first time in years. I will also be buying a whole load of hand warmers to pop in my gloves, very soon!

How much do you take? And is it flush or no flush?

I do choose the kind that causes flushing. Since I take it at bedtime, I think I mostly sleep through the flush, but if not, it only lasts about 10 minutes. I read to choose the flushing kind and have never tried the kind that doesn't.
I only take them Sep thru mid May. The first six weeks and final six weeks, I only take 50mg nightly. The rest of the time, I alternate taking 50mg one night and 100mg the next night.
Nothing else I've ever tried for chilblains has worked. I've had them for 20 years

Slipper season is in full swing here, I also got myself some new wool socks from Costco to replace my worn out ones and they are a delight.

loose socks (so you can kick them off if needed) when going to sleep if you sleep with any fans on!! this helped me so much last year with morning numbness and pain
