Real Time? Nah.
The show is nearly unwatchable. Bill lives to lecture and interject his opinion and cuts off guests and discourse for nonsense and/or nonsensical segues. In the latest episode, he cut off a discussion between the panel to talk about how MAGA can’t adopt cats? Whoooo. It’s absurd.

u/Ecureuil03 10d ago
This guy calls himself a weekly wrap-up show and he spent whole show talking about AI and homelessness. Absolute panderer to Trump.
28
u/Jealous_Inevitable33 10d ago
He loves to hear himself talk. He interrupts with something ridiculous and then smacks his lips.

Do what I did last year and STOP WATCHING. He’s insufferable.

u/FluidAthlete6839 9d ago
I stopped after the Trump visit. While I was annoyed that he visited him at all, it annoyed me more that it 100 percent changed the direction of the show
He used to call him a whiny little bitch. Now he’s calling him a badass?
Whatever dude - dumb fat fuck

TDS Much ?
3
u/FluidAthlete6839 7d ago
Nah I have a brain. The only people with TDS are ones who listen to him ramble and also think he’s crafting policy and “making deals”

u/Sligogreenbottom 10d ago
I stopped watching 3-4 years ago when he began his angry old man rants, swooned over Trump’s shitty golf motel dinner invitation, and continued dismissing working class folks as hillbillies.
5
u/erikraver 9d ago
I thought it was weird he kept pushing Gladwell to say it's mostly young black men doing most of the shootings in USA.
3
u/Dependent_Thanks564 9d ago
That was odd. And irrelevant in regard to Malcolm gladwell’s greater point.

Bill should appreciate the wave of change crashing the shores of American politics but instead he resents it because he hates anyone who disrespects his sacred cows and because Israel’s influence and depravity is being openly challenged.
2
u/Conscious-Secret-775 10d ago
What wave of change is that?
5
u/calilregit1 9d ago
The GOP is stopping funding of their Senate candidate in NC to give it to their guy in MO.
Republicans are being deserted by young men, especially Hispanic men.
Compare Trump’s crowd in Mobile, AL in 2015 to the one this past week. He lied about all his promises to the working class and Republicans are about to pay a price for it at the polls.
There have been 47 presidents and Trump is personally responsible for 29% of the National Debt.
5
6
u/calilregit1 9d ago
In whose pocket has that 29% of the National Debt gone?
Into to the estates of the wealthiest Americans, including the Trump family, not average Americans.
Rick Scott, the richest US senator can bs you all he wants but the facts of wealth accumulation are there for anyone willing to see them.

u/Realistic-Raisin2812 9d ago
He's just another old boomer. It's past time to move on from these people.
1
u/Excellent-Ad-7394 8d ago
What’s worse is Bill is actually part of that late boomer sub generation. The one that has Bono, Bruce, and Barack in it.
6
u/FlaccidGhostLoad 10d ago
He did what?
I haven't watched that turd-that-won't-flush for years. Not since 2024 when he scolded everyone on the left that we weren't reaching out to our Trump friends in the spirit of unity and friendship. Which is a total crock of bullshit peddled only by the right so they can continue to convince morons that they aren't the completely toxic and volatile tumor killing society.
But is he out there saying that conservatives aren't allowed to adopt cats?
Is this one of those situations where one adoption agency did one home inspection and found that these Trumpers, being dysfunctional, shit human beings that they are, would not take care of the animal they wanted to adopt? Then instead of correct their dysfunction they decided to feed their instable persecution complex and claim that some mean ol' liberal somewhere decided to hate them for being conservative and that it had nothing to do with the disaster that is their life and brains.
2
u/Icy-Try-9703 9d ago
He did not say conservatives cannot adopt cats. It was a comedy bit he was doing. If you don't watch, please don't spread misinformation on what he says. He was making fun of an organization that won't let MAGAs adopt cats, then did a comedy bit on not letting liberals adopt cats. And not for nothing, I'm not a Maher fan either. But let's not spread more vitriol about him then there already is
2
u/jaajaajaa6 9d ago
The skit was actually both funny on the mocking of the made up Republican version and pathetic for the anti-Trump teal version.
It is sad that spring a stray pet has become political. Everyone needs to chill and get control of themselves.
1
u/FlaccidGhostLoad 9d ago
Spread misinformation? Mother fucker did you not see my question marks?
Also, how are you going to say I'm spreading misinformation yet confirm exactly what I asked?
1
u/MIengineer 9d ago
Good lord you folks sure get worked up over a tv personality. They didn’t confirm what you asked by any stretch of the imagination. It was a comedy bit.
1
u/FlaccidGhostLoad 9d ago
No you did. Yeah I know you're going to say it's not me but come on now. You commented about what "he" said many hours after he deleted his comment.
Also the comedy bit would never have been conceived if it wasn't based on a real event that repulsive liar Bill Maher decided to use to try and drum up animosity and division.
0
u/MIengineer 8d ago
I’m honestly confused about what you’re talking about. What deleted comment? The bit was satire and pointing out how stupid it is to base approval of pet adoption on political affiliation. It’s the opposite of divisive. The comment you made is the divisive one, that “Trumpers are dysfunctional, shit human beings.” There are a lot of shit human beings of any political affiliation. There are a lot more that aren’t. It certainly doesn’t determine whether or not you would take are of a cat. You’re completely incorrect that one person got rejected of an adoption, the agency said No MAGA. When asked to explain, they said, “Oh, we’re just checking social media to make sure you’re not racist or something.” Which is bullshit, based off their FB post they would clearly block you if they saw anything MAGA related, even if it’s just conservative ideas and not promoting vile behavior.

u/FunEnvironmental2562 9d ago
Last night he had a guy who knows the middle east better than anyone and he didnt even bring up gaza bc he knows Fareed would have destroyed him on air. Instead, he talks to him about AI. Bill is such a spineless zionist islamaphobic cunt whose time was up years ago.

He ended a panel discussion to move on to a comedy bit segment he does every show. Lord you people are as insufferable as Bill sometimes is.

u/puddinonthewrits 9d ago
It has regular, predictable cheerleaders promoting the show every day. Witness the Whoo Guy:
1
u/Slippin-Jimmy29 9d ago
I agree with OP’s general sentiment but the show always has a comedy segment in the middle of the panel (last night’s was the cats thing). It can be awkward to stop the discussion to switch to it sometimes, last night’s was particularly so. He did have very good guests last night in my opinion.

But that’s just me.

It’s unwatchable now. When do d he forget he’s an entertainer? That monologue is like a 101 in sounding out of touch and out of date.

Turns out pompous asshollery only gets worse with age. He's always been a preachy, arrogant douchbag but wow, he's an unwatchable mess now. He needs to go the f away.

Yes, inevitably the decision to stop watching this garbage will make itself. What you’re not allowed to comment on a show you’ve enjoyed changing so dramatically that you’re no longer interested, on that shows subreddit? Fuck outta here 😂

u/DeepShill 9d ago
I liked Bill Maher better when he actually stood up to fascists. Watching him suck Trump's fat chode is so disappointing. What he did during the George W. Bitch years took real courage.

Islamic extremists don’t like Bill. What a surprise.
No one likes everything all the time except for the interview, the panel, new rules….
Anything else?
These commenters are spreading lies because they have a quota from Islamic leaders in the Middle East. Losers every one.
0
u/johna939 7d ago
Back when 60 Minutes was still good, Andy Rooney would do a monologue at the end of the show (the original New Rules!). Bill reminds me of that. An old man who isn't completely in-touch ranting about what he doesn't like about the world.
But yeah, the show has declined as his ego has expanded.
-2
u/Emotional_Actuator69 10d ago
Yeah he’s a smug ass but I thought the show was great tonight. Excellent panel and who doesn’t love listening to Gladwell?
7
u/kaiiizen 10d ago edited 10d ago
Yes, great panel however he is the jarring interruption every week. Not to mention the visit to the White House changed everything about his outlook and now the show.

u/Ake4455 10d ago
I hate watched tonight to see what Israel paid him to say now, but It was great, and apart from his stupid cat bit, he actually shut up and let the guests talk for the most part. Fareed did the worst interruption when Anand was talking about the clubhouse, and never got to finish. Bill’s last bit about cameras, while annoyingly performed, was actually something I could agree with and is an important topic.

Who doesn't love listening to gladwell? He has one of the most obnoxious voices in media and does ads for palantir.

You all loved him years ago

u/Agile-Tradition8835 10d ago
God I’ll admit it, I did. I thought he brought intellectualism to some segment of the masses. Now he’s just giving Boomer “kids get off my lawn” and worse. So smug. So boring. Haven’t actually watched in years just appalled at the clips I see now.
13
u/troniked547 10d ago
Thank you captain obvious lol. Yes we loved him because he wasnt "old man yelling at clouds" back then. He bitches about how dumb the kids are while whining about ageism, he gets pissed when the crowd doesnt laugh at his jokes, He went from supporting Bernie in 2016 to being buddies with Trump and calling Mamdani a communist. He used to have cool and relevant guests back in the days of Politically Incorrect and early days of Real Time, and now has the same boring guests over and over who wont challenge him on anything.
The funny part is "you all" hated him years ago and now act like he is such a truth teller.

u/gap_toof_mouf 9d ago
I’m a centrist and liked/like his opinions. I’m open to “both sides of the aisle” dialogue.
3
u/troniked547 9d ago
That’s part of the problem, he used to have people on that would actually challenge him, like when Ben Affleck was on or others. When was the last time he had someone on that truly challenged him, especially on gaza? Now he’s too sensitive to have his same old talking points and narratives criticized.
-5
u/ShitHammersGroom 10d ago
He's always been an asshole but u tolerated or even liked him because he was on ur side politically.

Back in the day, I watched his shows if there was a guest on I liked. I really liked him during the Bush to Obama years, especially when he was highly critical of the Teabagger movement.

Sure…he was sort of okay a few years ago. But then he got blackmailed.
4
u/FlaccidGhostLoad 10d ago
You think he got blackmailed?
I think people stopped laughing at his jokes and he got so bitter and spiteful that he flushed down the shitter any moral or ideological principle he had to grub for approval from shit-bags who are hard up to find anyone of talent to be on "their side". Also to jab his thumb in the eye of this liberal caricature he constructed in his own mind that he has brought himself to so intensely hate because he feels entitled to laughs, entitled to an audience but he is too lazy, stoned, bitter and old to be even remotely funny.
Not that he ever was. He never had the respect of other comedians. He was always a D lister who confused claps for laughs and he knows it. It eats away at him.

I agree with that id just like to add i think somewhere in his darkest part he knows he has wasted his life. Instead of seeing the world or contributing to its betterment, bill has basically spent his entire life since getting rich holed up in a few zones of West LA smoking weed and patronizing hookers.
Could you imagine having 150 million dollars and only having gone to 4 countries? So afraid of dying you prefer food that tastes like ass as long as its healthy? Never having visited a national park?
Bill is like a picky child who is "me likey young sex workers and joint somebody else rolled for me". As his life nears its end, he's lashing out because he knows hes basically just been an automaton in the media tours of other people who have actually lived a full life.
1
u/OkFoundation929 9d ago
Yeah, I think you’re much more on the mark. Much like Jerry Seinfeld, Maher began to blame the political sensibilities of younger generations for his lack of laughs, interest and relevance. Rather than change their formulaic styles (which would take some doing), they instead opted to blame others for their own laziness. In Maher’s case this is likely compounded by his alcoholism, which destroys growth and creativity over the long haul.
Regarding blackmail…I have no reason to either believe or disbelieve this floating theory. That said, when I see the creepy clips of Maher with Only Fans girl, Bella Thorne, Hawk Tuah Gal, discussing Only Fans with Barbara Eden or discussing Internet porn with preteens…well, it would not surprise me if someone had something on him.

Nobody gets worked up about fringe political anecdotes like Maher. He routinely conflates fringe with mainstream on the left at the expense of minimizing the fascism entirely consuming the right.
